Massively is reporting (www.massively.com/2009/10/02/crimecraft-prepares-for-a-conversion-to-free-to-play-announces/) that 'MMOFPS' CrimeCraft will be switching to a free to play model (they call it an 'unlimited trial') with optional premium subscriptions. The subscriptions will be either $4.99 or $9.99 a month, and offer faster XP gain, better customization, and more skill options. Existing players will receive a special title, an extra month of the $9.99 subscription, and to-be-announced bonus content.

CrimeCraft is billed as a 'Persistent World Next-gen Shooter' (PWNS... get it?) and is sort of a FPS meets Guild Wars.

Giant Bomb has a quick look (http://www.giantbomb.com/quick-look-crimecraft/17-1281/) which is a pretty good summary of the game.

The general verdict on the game is that it is not worth $50 + a subscription. The developer, Vogster, recently laid off a number of staff. Only time will tell how this turns out for them.
