View Full Version : Eternal Sonata (PS3) @ Amazon for 29.99
Amazon has periodically been getting Eternal Sonata for the PS3 in stock at the MSRP price. Looks like they got another batch in because they were sold out just a day ago after I ordered.. and couple nights ago when I tried to order. Might be a good deal for those looking for a new copy because I believe this is the best price from a reputable company on the market right now. Hope this helps some people out, and for those who are hesitant, the game is definitely worth the $30/$27 price. Pick one up quickly, NAO.

Playing through this right now.
Not the best RPG I've played recently, but I'm enjoying and would say go for it for the price.

Decent music and battle system but the overall story was trash.
One of the most annoying things is how they would constantly bring up points already mentioned in the story. Notably Chopins story. I don't need to be told that he was from Poland and about the rebellion 10 times during the game. Just allude to it and get on with the story.
I paid $5 for it and that was about all it's worth.

Good game but stupidly short. Seemed shorter then Final Fantasy IV.
The 360 version raped me by only giving me under 200 gamer points and leaving the rest for a second play through.

Mis0, you must be a mind reader because I've been looking around for this. Hoping to pick this up at Toys R Us' b2g1 free. I think I remember seeing it there. If not, It's either Newegg or Amazon for me. Thanks OP.

Thanks OP, I have it preordered from newegg but would rather go with Amazon than hope they actually get it in (estimated ship date from them is in Nov.). I really enjoyed what I played of this on the 360, but have heard the PS3 version is the superior version due to some significant added content.
EDIT: After ECA it's the same price as newegg anyway.

Why has this become the default answer? It's not like he said, "I won't buy this if it doesn't." He asked if there were trophies. That's all. Would you have given a similar answer if he asked if it had good graphics or a quality story?
Speaking of quality story, how bad is the script in this game? Wow...

I agree. I can't remember a game I've disliked as much as this one in recent memory, besides maybe the new Prince of Persia game. The battle system is fun at first, but quickly gets repetitive, especially on higher difficulties when you're just spamming special attacks. And the story is brutally bad. I'm surprised so many people liked this game. The music is excellent, though, and it looks pretty.

It's worth at least $9000 on ebay.
So grab it while you still can.
Edit: lol @ "DealHunter"
Looks dead. As in the rarity.. I think it's going to be one of those games that won't get a re-print.. so the supply of it may not be as abundant say compared to Final Fantasy. However, it's not one of those must have games, so obtaining it won't be as hard.

I loved this game, easily one of my favorites on PS3. I think your enjoyment of this game probably hinges on how much of a stomach you have for JRPGs.

People play games for lots of reasons. The guy asked a simple question - hey maybe he owns an xbox and ps3 and was trying to decide version based on achievement/trophy support. You don't know. Don't be an elitist prick because you play games for a different reason than someone, or because you assume something. Seriously. If you want to do that take it to another forum or discuss in the games forums or something - but not here.

This. I bought this game the last time Amazon had it for $30, and, after "playing it" for 2-3 hours, I promptly sold it on ebay. Pretty visuals wrapped around an incredibly repetitive, derivative, and simple turn-based JRPG that's filled to the brim with excessive cutscenes and a terribly boring story.
Eternal Sonata is the perfect example of what's wrong with the majority of current-gen JRPG's (aka. their reluctance to change!), and is a perfect example of why FF XIII can't come out soon enough.

I'm kinda sad that I didn't jump on this, but I already have 3 games preordered in the next 2 weeks.

Maybe if you weren't a newbie, you'd know that he constantly posts in the PS3 trophy thread with that exact attitude.

Oh, my bad. Sorry I have a life and don't know about what everyone posts on an internet forum. I'll start studying now, douche.
And yes, this game is awful.

Note that if you're buying this game and because you own a 360 version, the PS3 version is actually much more difficult the first playthrough and many of some game-breaking bugs were fixed when they ported the game.
I played this at a friend's place on his 360 and it was such a breeze to play (but then he sold his X360). I bought the PS3 probably a month later and it was kinda obnoxious how randomly difficult the bosses were in this version (even after grinding to grossly outlevel the other mobs before the boss--though note, some bosses will still be very easy). I guess it takes a bit more finesse, of course.

As far as rarity, all I know is that a few months back when I was looking for this for weeks at a time, no one had it in stock for the $30 MSRP or less. It was either eBay or some small game websites.

I play for trophies, but i still buy games regardless they have trophies or not (e.g. VC). I posted the short "trophies?" post because i was "typing" on the Touch, too much to type...
If the game has trophies, it's like most of you would say "icing on the cake." If not, well, perhaps $15 is my preferred price.

Ouch, i'm a but hurt there... yes, i'm a trophy whore, but that doesn't mean i don't play games without trophies, come on now, it's all a bit of misunderstand. All i want to know is, does ES has trophies, nothing less, nothing more. Thanks for the answer by the way (i don't remember every older PS3 games have trophy patches you know).
