View Full Version : 8 Dollars trade-in for all DVD's at Blockbuster

manofpeace20
10-06-2004, 10:09 AM
I went to Starbucks this morning and I saw a big sign on the front window of Blockbuster that said "8 dollars trade in value on all DVD's". This is a pretty good value unless you are looking to rid boxed sets or those pricey rare editions. However, I passed 3 blockbusters on the way to school, and only 2 had the special. Not sure if it is coincidence, but the ones that have the special do not have a Gamerush.

Well today is 10/5, and it was the first time I saw the sign for this special. For the uninformed like myself, this is a wonderful thing.

man if people knew about this 10 days ago the overstock movies would of flew 10x faster (buy them for 2 sell them for 8 ) ours is having it here what is kind of werid since if you want to double your money you can. Pawn shops sells 5 DVDS for 20 Take the to Blockbuster sell them for 40 ez 20 bucks. Bad thing is if Block dont want the movies your out 20 bucks.

Last time I was in there, they sold DVD movies at this dollar store by my house. Crappy titles like "Laser Mission" and some old, old Westerns. They weren't in the DVD cases, just some cardboard sleeve with the picture and info on them. I didn't look too closely, wonder if they were boots?

slidecage
10-06-2004, 10:45 AM
they are real Dvds but real crappy dvds. Walmart has them now too.. I doubt Blockbuster will take them since the things they take "have to be something they have in the store: that is what they said on phone

Yeah, I have a large DVD collection and I was thinking about trading some in...however, you only get STORE CREDIT or they will just credit your account. And the DVD's at BlockBuster always seem to be WAY overpriced. So, it's good if you have some cheap DVD's lying around....however, you still have to buy something there.

I got 48 dollars off some DVD's today. I asked them to place it on a giftcard, and I took it to a Gamerush and got the Mortal kobat Kollectors edition for dirt cheap.

Oh, I was not sure if you could use the BB GiftCard at GameRush...I would assume yes since both are under the same roof.

Maybe I will trade in a few DVD's. Like the House PArty Trilogy I picked up dirt cheap a while back

Thanks....now what to get rid of. I actually just filled up my rack of over 300 DVD's.....so I should either
A.) Buy a new rack
B.) weed out the not-so-good titles

I think the deal is going on till Mid November. That could change though. Man blockbuster's online library is definetly gonna increase with all these DVD and gamerush promotions. Also don't completely rely on blockbusters online library. I was able to turn in two dvd's not in their online catalog. They were The Rock the people's champ and WWE Judgement Day.

That is not true, every BB around here basically has a GR, and all of them do the deal.

And, I also managed to trade in a few DVD's that weren't in their systems and got 8 bucks for them, it's just a YMMV case if they take them or not, I suppose. They just really want inventory so that is why they are doing this, and I am positive they'll get tons of DVD's this way.

This deal is great...already traded in 13 DVD's (a lot could be had for $5 new....like The Smokers, Suicide Kings, The Fog....and a few others)

I now have $250 credit on my GameRush giftcard. I think I may have to invest in a game or two now. I was thinking of saving my credit for the Nintendo DS, but not sure if I really NEED a handheld gaming system....probably not.

Not necessarily. 2 I tried that were on the website were rejected. The store scanned the barcode and also allegedly looked manually and couldn't find either. This has to be the worst deal ever. I went yesterday with 5 DVD"s to trade and the manager said they can no longer accept DVD trades this day cause some guy traded in 187 DVD's an hour ago. He said come back tomorrow.

Well here I am...and the computer would not take Behind Enemy Lines, Vertical Limit, or 3000 Miles to Graceland. The only DVD's they took were Hellboy and Man on Fire.

THis deal sucks it seems Blockbuster will only take DVD"s less than one year old.
