To the person who thought it was a good idea to make matchmaking only. FUCK YOU. And somehow this bullshit practice has thrived where so many games are matchmaking only. WHY can't I just get a server list and choose a game? Rate it by ping, distance, and skill level. I was playing Uncharted 2 Beta and the fucking thing hung for like a minute searching for players. And I got matched with a level 46 player when I was level 15. GREAT matchmaking there. I also got level 1s on my team. FANTASTICO! Seriously why can't we just have our server list, save our favorite servers and keep matchmaking as a sort of quick game option instead of forcing this torture on us. Unreal had it right. Team Fortress 2 had it right. Uncharted 2, Gears of War, have it WRONG.

Agreed with on Uncharted 2. My matchmaking on it takes forever.

This was my rude awakening when I finally joined Xbox Live. All of my previous online gaming experience had been on Star Wars Battlefront (1and 2) on PS2, where there were server lists (and you could open your own room and boot griefers, etc).

I've never had any issues with it other than Gears 2 taking forever last fall/spring. Other games I thought it was fine and preferred the automated system to going through server lists etc. Kind of moot anymore since I haven't played anything online in months, just keep live for Netflix. Will probably pick up MW2 though.

Server lists wouldnt really work on XBL since the majority of the games are hosted by the people playing the game. Your server list would be everyone on xbox live at that moment hosting that particular game.

This is true. The COD/Halo matchmaking seems to work pretty well most of the time.

Yea, I agree about U2's matchmaking (I've never had problems with speed though). I just hate having to choose between two levels only. But, there is a party and custom game settings if you just want to play with your friends.

Yea, I remember Halo 2's online system being awesome. Although it wasn't as good in Halo 3. I really miss having active clan systems in games... so much fun.

yeah the matchmaking in tha game is flawed but just because someone has a high rank doesnt mean theyre that good. ive seen people with very low ranks kick major ass and people with high ranks suck its all relative but if you got into the demo late youre going to have to deal with the occasional domination from experience players.

you may want to join up with the u2 cag group i think alot of them are new to the game too so you should have a chance to get practice there.

I definitely agree about Gears. The matchmaking is horrible, and you're penalized for backing out of a match - they want you to suffer through every ridiculously unbalanced game they set up.

Server lists work perfectly. This is why I prefer playing games online on the PC rather than console. When I play a game of Unreal Tournament or a game from Valve I just get a whole entire list of servers I can play on. Matchmaking is just a fucking joke.

Halo 3/CoD matchmaking works pretty well. Much better than the Gears 1 server list method.

All I have to say is... Try Socom, That makes ANY game seem not as bad.

This pissed me off when Halo 3 first came out. I was used to playing FPS's on the PC, where server lists and numbered pings are the norm. Not matchmaking and ping measured in four shity bars like a cheap cellphone.

I got over it.

When I first saw the thread title I thought that this thread was about eHarmony or something.
