Upcoming Deal
Get Wet with this PS3 Game

well this is kind of odd because it doesn't show up in the "Today's Deals" section of Amazon, but instead on the Video Game DotD page:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_6716412_1?ie=UTF8&docId=1000208101&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=right-1&pf_rd_r=00TASQ8H313G3A67C11E&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=457286001&pf_rd_i=468642

kind of a given that this is going to be Wet for PS3.

Is this Video Games Lightening Deal new? I've never seen it before and I check almost daily.

y2jasper
10-09-2009, 04:26 AM
i'm pretty sure it is, i think the same thing happened yesterday as well....i hope amazon keeps this going, i wouldn't mind one more game being on sale every day!

Just started yesterday or the day before I believe.

Wow, Amazon's hint guy must have really wanted to go home early.

bvharris
10-09-2009, 10:30 AM
I hope they keep putting the name of the game in the hint, and always capitalizing it for good measure. Takes a lot of the guesswork out.

10-09-2009, 10:33 AM
maybe it's a trick and it will actually be jet moto for the new amazon psn store (then I might be interested - why have they not made a new one of those, I loved them back in the day)

Why are the DOTD always crappy PC downloads?

How long have you been following them, a week?

It is very hit or miss but is certainly not always crappy PC downloads

Wow, nice find OP! I check the deal of the day daily, and *TOTALLY* missed that there was a lightening deal for games!

This unfortunetly is going to have me glued to Amazon even more :D

I'll definitely get Wet (uhh...that...well..okay) if it's cheap enough, though I suspect the discount won't be high enough, particularly without my ECA discount :(

Hmm...$30, maybe. $20 I'll get it for sure, but I'm guessing it'll be more like $40.

Jodou
10-09-2009, 10:58 AM
Just calling it now, but it will be $45.

bvharris

Just calling it now, but it will be $45.

Yeah, I doubt it would be much less than that given the meager discount we saw on Infamous yesterday.

Wolfpup
10-09-2009, 11:06 AM
Okay, after rewatching the trailer on wet.bethsoft.com, I'm buying it for $30 for sure.

Faith (Eliza Dushku, if I spelled that right) plays her too, which is perfect.

"Shot at Love" *HAS* to be seen :D

doodofdoods
10-09-2009, 11:17 AM
If it's $30 and any of my eca codes work I'll probably buy it.

TwistedBishop
10-09-2009, 11:29 AM
I hope it's under $45. Otherwise it's the same as the Best Buy Gamer's Club deal, although there you'd get extra points as well (around an extra $4 in future coupons).

drmuerto
10-09-2009, 11:50 AM
Too bad it's PS3. I played through the demo a couple of times and really liked the soundtrack. I'll definitely pick this one up when I see it hit $30, although I suppose I'd be very tempted at $35.

I like this extra lightning deal thing too. I wonder if they'll keep the time to be the same every day or if it'll vary.

Xanthophyll Carotene
10-09-2009, 11:53 AM
I kind of dig the demo too... if it's cheap, I'll bite. For $45, no...but for $30...yeah, I'm in.

10-09-2009, 11:58 AM
Nice to see Amazon doing this. I was also getting annoyed with the cheapo PC download games being DotD. Offering a 2nd deal is a good idea.

Ill jump on "Wet" @ 30. Gotta remember, when it first came out it was 49.99 to begin with (had a pre-order $10 saving).

My thoughts exactly. If it's below $45 I'll be very surprised.

Maybe it's Amazon's ploy to ween out all the old ECA codes people have on their account by ordering and cancelling.

confoosious
10-09-2009, 01:51 PM
If it's near 35 with SINGLE ECA, I'm in.

By the way, where are all the "waaahhh there's never a PS3 deal on amazon" folks?

They are claims, you can have a LD in your checkout cart for a day..... you don't have to order it right then and there.

Your order will not be backordered because you claimed one of the 102%.

Normally with lightning deals you simply have to claim the item and put it in your cart. Then you have until the end of the day to complete checkout.

I mean I'm not opposed to someone buying something they're kind of interested in but think they'll probably sell. But I think a lot of us frown on just buying it as some sort of investment and taking it away from those of us who actually wanted the game...

I'd have to agree that its pretty weak to buy this with the sole intention of trading it back in to make around $15. I was one of the unfortunates who missed out on this deal when I had the intention of actually playing the game.

I CONCUR. Let the gamers who actually want to play the game get it.

Same with people who buy concert tickets in large amounts for the sole purpose of raping your wallet, no lube with a spiky dildo on eBay. You couldn't get one BECAUSE some jackass bought 25 tickets to resell them.

This is some amusingly hypocritical and half-witted logic. If a monetary amount like $15 is nothing to you, why would you care if you even got the game at the reduced price anyway? Why not just "get a job" and buy it at retail price? Why are you even on a site called "CHEAP ASS gamer" to begin with?

I always find it hilarious when people think they "deserve" to get the deal more because they are going to actually play the game. So what? These are video games not food or water, no one "needs" them so whining about some other guy getting it instead of you comes off as ridiculous.

Besides, I'm sure all of the people flipping it are then using the credit on a different video game. It's just a slightly more roundabout way of getting a deal on a game they want just as much as you want this game.

Very well said. I didn't get in on this deal, but could care less about someone buying it to make a few extra dollars. I was not entitled to get some mediocre game for 20 bucks, if you really want it that badly you would already have it or can wait a few weeks to get it for a similar price. Why can't we get some 360 love!!!

for the same reason PS3 owners didn't get the Red Faction deal the other day, Amazon usually when its a multi release game and they put one version on sale the other will be on sale as well in the next week or so. A good example of this was the 360 Ghostebusters Slimer Edition going in a LD then a week later they had the PS3 version on sale as well.

So check back and maybe the 360 version will go on sale as well...

By the way, where are all the "waaahhh there's never a PS3 deal on amazon" folks?
HERE! BTW I don't consider bad games a deal.

Figures the one time I brush off Amazon's lightning deal, it's actually an amazing price. I'm going to write this one off as a pricing mistake, because you can sell it right back at profit. Lol, if ECA still triple-stacked you could have got the game for $2.

I liked it too. Not every game can be earthshattering. This one could be fun.

People just love to rip video games like anyone gives a shit. They can't get jobs at Gamespot or IGN and need to share or something.

I mean, unless a game is a glitch fest that you can't play, let everyone buy whatever they want and let them enjoy it. Whoever posted about all the problems with Wolfenstein was doing the reader a favor. Others just like to bitch.

Amazon usually goes by your cart total before any discounts, so you probably did not have to add the blu-ray in order to get free shipping.

I had to add something else as well to qualify for free shipping. I also had to do it a few weeks ago when I got Castlevania OoE in a lightning deal, so I think it doesn't count for those.

I was able to get free shipping with the new KH game though, even though the total was under $25. I used the $5 off coupon code, ECA code, and it was one of my Gold Box quick picks, so I guess all those discounts don't affect it, but I've always had to add more to get free shipping if a lightning deal made the item under $25.

You and others mention the economy but how about some basic economics. When you insert an intermediary between the seller and the buyer that adds no value to the product but drives up its price, that's not good for consumers in the long run. It's not capitalism as some people wrongly assume -- it's anti-capitalism, because capitalism posits price competition lowering costs for consumers. It is short-sighted to support hoarding and flipping. It's a little bit of "every man for himself" that seems nice to people while they're doing it themselves in the short run, but in the long run leads to higher prices. Anyone who has tried to buy concert tickets in the past 10 years knows what that's all about.

This is correct. By buying all the items at a low price point and immediately trading them in, you are artificially inflating the lowest available price of the product.

I'm not sure what site you've been looking at for the several years you've been here, but flipping has always been part of the discussion. It is a way for people to multiply their gaming dollars. Flipping doesn't stop you from getting in on deals, it would have run out fast regardless, as it was limited quantity. Just because you wanted to play this specific mediocre game doesn't mean you deserve it more than someone that can easily turn it around into 2 games that they would like to play that are probable better anyways.

I do not know where a couple of you are getting the idea it's okay to do that. I mean you want to, at least have the decency to be embarrassed by it, and not sit here bragging.

Like I said, I totally understand buying a game you're sort of iffy on-have some interest in, but think there's a good chance you won't like it. But it's a whole other thing to get something that might as well be some stock investment you're just buying to sell.

I hate to break it to you, but you don't generate wealth by always paying retail or being irresponsible about money. In fact, the more you have, the less you have to pay for things, as a general matter.

Lots of different people frequent this site. Yes, there are plenty of broke college students, teens, etc. That's cool; I've definitely been there. There are doubtless also frugal gaming dads and moms (and single career-oriented people, like myself) who indulge in gaming as a hobby while trying to minimize its effect on their pocket books so that they can also afford important things like raising their kids, saving for the future, etc. The great thing about this site is that it is a valuable resource for all kinds of gamers who want to save money on their hobby.

The reasoning you used in your post crops up here once in a while, and it is ignorant and polarizing in a classist way. Not everyone who won't stoop to questionable behavior for $15 is Mr. Moneybags, and not all behavior that saves a buck is laudable in a stick-it-to-the-man sort of way. I already explained in a previous post why flipping raises long-term prices for consumers and why it's not in our collective interest as consumers in the video game industry. But it's cool; to each his or her own.
