Fullscreen, or 1:37 specifically (though it may be 1:33 for this transfer), is the original aspect ratio of the film.

Well BB is giving out $15 GC.

Pinocchio - $10
Snow White - $2.50 ($25 - $10 coupon - $5 pricematch - $7.50 preorder)
$15 Gift Card - $0
Total = $12.50 plus tax

Nice. Combined with Snow White (plus $5 gift card) for $10 from TRU, Braveheart for $9.99 ($19.99 minus $10 rebate), and now this, some sweet Blu deals this week.

I also love that BB.com now takes paypal as well (and works with store pickup), and I just happen to have just the right amount in my PP account.

Ordered one last night when I saw the deal over on SD. I had a $5 RZ Coupon so my total came out to $5.24. I had already picked up Snow White at TRU for $5 (w/ $5 GC). So all in all these movies ended up costing about $10 plus tax. Cant complain about that.

The full screen does worry me though. Considering I will be watching on a 50' Plasma. Is there a widecreen option or just that I stretch the image? The way I read it I was thinking the blu-ray was widescreen but the DVD was full screen. Eitherway worth $5.

I believe that Pinocchio introduced the watercolor borders on the sides(snow white has them too) to prevent burn in. Watched snow white last night that way and it was not distracting at all and I think sometimes it added to the film.

Has anybody tried to order this and Snow White for instore pick up and then busted out with the coupon? I wonder what the chances of getting that to work are?

Oh yeah, pretty sure I am going to let my 3 year watch this movie even with its use of the word "Jackass".

Picked up my copy of $5.24 after a $5 RZ Coupon. I went back to see what the shelf price was and they had a card for $29.99 so I think someone in the online dept forgot to put in the "2".

For some reason the copy that my BB had did not have the slip cover on it. Not that big of a deal but I am anal about those things. But for $5 I can let it slide (though it may get the best of me and I will buy at Target and then return my copy back to them to get the slip cover....:bomb:)

I picked up a copy today! Thanks OP!

To those that have not, but plan on buying this, be sure to order it online.
I went to my local best buy and Pinocchio rang up for $30, so I asked to price match their online price. A supervisor comes over and walks outback with the movie for a couple minutes to check, and comes back saying that it was an online only deal. So, I ask if I can order it online on a laptop in their computer section and then walk over to the in-store pickup line to pick it up and he said yes. So that is what I did, and it worked. A little bit of a hassle, but it's worth the $20 difference :D

Exactly. It's funny how people who grew up watching this movie now think it's wrong for their own children to watch it because of a word which is used in the correct context here.

Read this when POPEYE1716 (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/member.php?u=205495) posted early last night...

Just returned from BB.
Grabbed Pinocchio, Snow White and Snow White poster ...went to clerk to check BB online and TRU ad online. He confirmed both and walked with me to register.

Snow White pmd TRU $19.99
Pinocchio pmd to website $9.99
-$10 Disney coupon (it does not just scan and work, there is an extra key to hit, not sure what it ism but this coupon is legite and all BBs should except it)
Received $15 gift card

Walked over to Cservice to cancel Snow White preorder and received my $7.50 back. (Regular register cannot take the preorder amount off).

Dabnabit, wish I could print one of the $5 coupons..would have used that on Pinocchio!

Thanks ops!

Tried to get Up! (preorder) from the back but no go till tomorrow...

as others have said, it's used in the proper context so who cares?
my son is 4, and he's seen the movie. he doesn't even pay attention to that specific word. if it became an issue I would just explain to him what it meant and that it's not appropriate to use now and that would be that. you don't have to censor everything in the world from children. they're smart enough to understand things, you just have to explain it to them.

I remember watching an episode of Mister Rogers when I was little and he showed a picture of a donkey and called it an "ass."

Now had he followed that up by saying "Never go ass-to-mouth," that might've been a problem.

Quick question for those of you who picked this up. How many discs is it supposed to have? I only ask because mine came with 2 discs, one of them a bluray with all the extras, and one of them is a dvd with the main feature. Maybe I missed something, are just the special features on the bluray not the movie itself?

I don't want it censored. I just don't want my 2 year old saying jackass around the house whether it is in the proper context or not. Just like I don't want him saying motherfucking asshole shithead in the right context either. ;) When he is old enough to understand the difference then fine but for now he can watch stuff that doesn't involve questionable language. Not a big deal.

Not to totally derail this thread(though i am the OP), if 'jackass' is used in context of a donkey would there be any reason a 2-year old would especially pick up on the word as opposed to any other random word said in the movie? He would already have to inherently know that 'ass' has other connotations for it to be a big deal.

As soon as the BB page is up, I'm gonna order site to store, and pick it up probably Monday or something. I wonder if I can play it, since my bluray player (Sharp BD-HP21U) can't play Snow White at all (even with the new update).

picked up my copy slipcase intact. Thanks op.:DBlack bars can burn in, of course mostly on older plasmas and a whole lot of sd programming for long periods of time is required which is why grey bars are offered as options on most tvs and cable/directv boxes, etc.

Site is down for maintenance now that I'm home from work and ready to buy. Hope the maintenance doesn't incude fixing Pinocchio's price. Was gonna buy it for pickup to hedge my bets that they won't pm their own website, and give me the coupon. Might just be easier to pm at Sears (one by here is absolutely hassle free) and get the extra $3.50 off, use the $5 coupon and then do the $4 rebate. They would be paying me to watch it and eat some raisins!

ryoga79
10-11-2009, 04:10 AM
worried about the maintenance changing the price too. Let's hope it stays $10 site to store.

Hmm, seems now I can add it to my cart, but I can't chekcout without it going into maintenance. Strange.

edit #2: Finally got it order from home. Just said screw it and am having it shipped ($2.50 extra). I work 3rd, and BestBuy doesn't open until after 10am, and I live 40 mins from "town" so hell with it. Hopefully with have it by Thursday (my 2nd day off this week). Thanks OP!

I am such a doofus I jumped on this deal when it was first posted for in-store pick-up and just noticed after I opened up my copy to enter in the "Disney Movie Rewards" points that I already have it. I must have got it when TRU had a deal on Blu-rays when the movie "Bolt" came out. If anybody still needs a copy I can let mine go for cost
($10.70) plus shipping ($2.30) so maybe $13.50 total to cover paypal fees.

My copy does not have a slip-cover and has a unused "Disney Movie Rewards" points code worth 125 points.

EDIT: I thought the BB deal was dead on this but it is still available for $9.99 so I guess I will just list my copy on Goozex.

Just like a bitch is a female dog and hell is a place and a dam(n) holds back water, right? Let me take a wild guess... you don't have kids.

Now let me take a guess... you can't explain to your kids how to use words in the correct context , and how other people miss use them?

I ordered yesterday online and I picked up my copy today so I could grab the Up Steelbook too. Mine was the 2-disc platinum, no slipcover.

That is exactly right - because he's TWO.

I just picked it up. Mine is a blu-ray only 2-disc set. No big deal - I have the DVD already but kind of disappointing that others have received the 3-disc set.

The DVD is just a copy of the movie that they're including in hopes that people who don't have a blu-ray player yet, but are thinking of upgrading eventually, will go ahead and buy it now. No extra features or anything. So if you already have a blu-ray player, you're not really missing out.

Just to add to the 2-disc/3-disc topic. My copy was the no slipcover (aaarrggg) 2-disc blu-ray but on the back it says 2-disc blu-ray and 1 disc dvd (i.e. 3 disc). I am holding off on opening it incase I can pick up one with a slipcover and swap it out (I am anal about my cases).

Picked up mine today in store they had a few left. It was also the Plat 2 disc one without the slip cover. But when I opened it, it also had the dvd in it so I was pretty glad about that. Tried to get the Up steel book but they didn't have any at the store. Called the BB at another store and they had some in which was odd to me as it was in the Sun. flyer. The guy told me that they wouldn't get them in till Tues. Also if any CAG's have the slip cover and don't want it message me because I'd really like to have it also. Thanks

Hmm, two disc on the front, but the back mentions a third DVD. So that's cool. Although no slipcover... I'll keep an eye out in the different Best Buys I head into. If I find one with the slipcover, bam, I'll buy it and return the old one.

yeah, I know. I may be overreacting a little but when you have kids you go a little crazy. I told my wife about it and she was like "they won't even know what it means." In my defense, I was high all weekend (on prescription pain pills for my infected ass).

I know some people hate the slipcases, so if anyone got one with a slipcase and wants to sell it, shoot me a pm. I'll pay about 5$ shipped for it as long as it's in perfect condition.

90% of the time I can count on Amazon to price match best buy. I have credit with Amazon and didn't feel like making the trip to Best Buy for pick up. Not a big deal, I'm sure it will come around on Black Friday. So I guess I missed out this time (damn .80 :roll: )

Amazon tends to match the weekly in-store ads or in-store prices only. I don't remember the last time they PM'd an online price like this, particularly since it appears to have been an error.

I've been impressed with Blu-rays in the past, but nothing could have prepared me for this. It's unreal. The clarity is almost too much... to the point that I'm seriously considering going out and getting some of the other Disney Blus.

Damn, Imma try to price match this in store tomorrow...hopefully it'll still be $9.99 on the site. Been wanting to buy it blu-ray before but speaking as a cheap ass I couldn't ever cough up the $29.99-$34.99 for it originally.

FYI- Disney movie rewards has a 10 off coupon on snow white if you already own a copy of snow white on vhs or dvd. With Walmart *possibly others* having the dvd/ blu ray snow white sets for 19.97, you can use it to get Snow White for 10.

Not sure if this has been mentioned though.

There are/were like 3 different topic posts on Snow White Blu-ray/DVD combo deals all of which include a $10 off coupon or code.

However, This Pinocchio one is new to me, upset I didn't see it earlier if it started earlier in the week, Thanks OP.

They refused a price match in Stafford, VA.

Per their website:
What is an "online only offer?"
It is a product or a price that is only offered to online buyers. Best Buy does not match Bestbuy.com online only offers in our stores.

I think all copies say 2 disc on the cover. My slipcover says it too, and I got all 3 discs.

Isn't there a Diamond Edition coming out?

Maybe in a few years -- but this edition just came out in March, so it'll be a while (it's generally around 6-8 years between Disney editions, I believe). Depends on whether you really want to wait for it, I guess. Honestly, how much more could they really add at this point that would matter?

And yet the site was allowing ordering for in-store pick-up . . . weird. I don't see what the difference would be at that point (and I think I'd point that out to them if they tried to argue with me about price matching).

I only decided to have it shipped rather than trying to price match or ordering for pick-up because the store closest to me didn't have it in stock, and I didn't feel like driving further for it when I could just have it show up at my office in a few days. Past a certain point, time/gas outweighs shipping cost.

Picked up my copy I ordered online with in-store pick up on Saturday. No slipcase and it says 2 disc Platinum on the outside but there are 3 discs inside. So it is confusing making people think there are 2 different versions.

Just wanted to thank the OP for this deal. Picked one up in store over the weekend. Brought a print out of the ad with me. They only had one version and it looked a tad different than the one in the ad, but the cashier put it through. $29-99-$20=$9.99+tax. Wife was quite happy with the surprise gift.

I got really really really lucky price matching in the store yesterday. I'm really picky about cases and slipcovers and stuff, but for $9.99 I don't care. I'd pay 9.99 for just the blu ray feature disc.

As others have pointed out, even if it doesn't have the slipcase, it still is the three disc set, 2 Blu-Ray, and the DVD. It's not like the Sleeping Beauty Blu-Ray where the DVD is in a sleeve inside the slipcase. The packaging for Pinocchio holds the DVD inside the case.

I only asked because Snow White (and apparently Sleeping Beauty) came with one, so I assumed it was the norm for Disney movies. I guess I was wrong.

Just got mine today. No slipcase, but there are indeed three discs (despite the "2-disc" label on the front).

Just wondering, though -- what inserts are supposed to come with these? I've got a sheet with the Disney Movie Rewards code and a sweepstakes on it, and a catalog of random Disney stuff with Jiminy Cricket on the front and Bolt on the back, but no actual movie booklet for Pinocchio. I'm only wondering because (if I remember correctly, have to check when I get home) both Sleeping Beauty and Snow White did have booklets. This one has a scene list on the inlay, though, so maybe not?
