The Order Summary page still lists it as "Game of the Year" Edition, so if anything happens, I think you have suitable documentation to support sassin' Target's customer service. And at that point, the discussion isn't "sell me something cheaper", but rather "you accidentally mailed me the wrong item", which should be less of an argument.

BINGO. How fast are they running out of codes now? Every 1-2 weeks? Of course the last codes got pulled due to stacking, but that wouldn't have happened if they didn't give everyone a free pass. I'm very interested in how this plays out. The GOTY is still up at amazon for $57.99, and at target for $59.99, and the regular edition at target for $39.99. A previous poster mentioned that the regular and GOTY editions have the same DPCI, but they have different ASINs on target.com.

I just checked the order information on my Target.com order and it shows the GOTY edition, as does my confirmation email.

It hasn't shipped yet, so my guess is that it'll ship today or tomorrow, and then I should see what happens.

If I get the non-GOTY edition, then it's going to be real fun to deal with, plus I know I'll be asking for a refund of the shipping charges, or they can RMA it back and ship me the right item.

I followed up my irritating call to Target this morning with an email letting them know how unsatisfied I was. I received a response from them this evening, letting me know that if I reordered the GOTY edition they would refund me the difference between the two orders, but that I would have to return the original (standard edition) back on my own, either online or to a B&M Target. I responded saying that that was great, so long as I would also be refunded shipping for the original, faulty order, unless they also take that off when I take the standard version back to the store (I don't think I've ever ordered anything from them before, and I know I've never returned an online order, so I honestly don't know how they handle that).

So long story short, everything tentatively worked out for me after all. Hopefully my order was an isolated incident and none of you have to deal with these shenanigans.

They told me that it would be on the same 2-4 week delay, so I asked them to waive shipping charges and upgrade the shipping from Standard to One Day. Which they just did.

Email dialogue with Target:
When this order was placed, there was no 2-4 week lead time for this order. It was showing as shipping on 10/12/09, and I know other people that ordered the same item after I did and have already received their items. I cannot get this item at a Target store, because I will be paying $59.99 + tax for the item, not $39.99 - 10% discount + shipping + tax on the item. If I go to the Target.com website and try to place an order for the same item, it is showing estimated delivery of 10/22/09 - 10/27/09 for Standard Shipping. I had canceled an Amazon.com (http://amazon.com/) order to place this Target.com order because the item was at a much better price through Target.com. Please remove the shipping charge from this order and change the shipping from Standard Shipping to One Day Shipping at no cost to me.

When I emailed them, the above statement was correct. It was showing 2-4 weeks lead time, though when I placed it in my cart to make a new order, it was showing 10/22/09 - 10/27/09 for the delivery window.

Yeah I just got something saying it'd be November 14. I emailed them asking if there was any way they could get it to me quicker and if not I'd carry my business elsewhere. I wouldn't mind waiting a few days but when I'm paying for shipping, a month is beyond ridiculous. On top of that I'll be having to pay for MW2 and the gow collection, I'll just order it from amazon or use that money in the TRU B2G1.

I see that the fallout is available in our stores too. If you'd prefer to buy it at your local store and cancel the item from your order, just go to http://www.target.com/my-account and use the "Cancel Items or Orders" link.

Remember, we won't charge your card until we actually start shipping your order.

Your best bet is to take the DPCI number 207-22-0300 to your nearest Target store and ask a team member to point you to the item. If they're out of stock, they'll be able to point you to the closest store that does have the item.

My order was also similarly delayed. I'm canceling it. It was a great deal, in theory, but in order for a sale to actually be good the merchant actually needs to actually sell the item to me. I already gave Target a second chance to get it right (see above), and the aggravation just isn't worth it to me. This is in all likelihood my only pickup for the season, and I am not going to wait another month for it. I won't be ordering from them again, no matter how good the deal may seem.

That's when they removed the shipping charge and upgraded it to One Day Shipping.

Might be worth shooting them an email and see if they'll do it for you like they did it for me.

Mine has shipped and I have a tracking number. It shows the GOTY edition in the shipping confirmation, but we'll see what's actually in the box.

I also accepted the delay through the link in the email when I received it. I'm not sure if not accepting the delay will cause them to hold shipping your order until the date gets closer to November 13th.

I canceled my order also, but on the bright side I went to Best Buy with the printed out invoice and picked up the GOTY edition and asked a employee for a price match and they said ok and looked at the price of 39.99 and asked from what store the deal is from and applied the discount. Then it needed a manager's approval, so she called for a manager twice and finally the manager came almost running, didn't even look at the computer, then typed her password in like a split second and ran off. So after that I payed for it and walked out happily and glad to not have to deal with target anymore!
