Video Games Deal of the Day @ Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_6716412_1&docId=1000208101)

------
What is the Video Games Deal of the Day?
From the site:
Each day, the Amazon.com Video Games team selects one or more products for our valued customers at a special, low, one-day-only price. Quantities are limited, so the price is only available while supplies last.

What are lightning deals?
Lightning deals are limited quantity, time released deals from Amazon generally found on the Goldbox offers page (http://www.amazon.com/gp/goldbox). At some point in the morning, the clues are listed along with the time(s) the item(s) will be available. Recently, Amazon has started a Video Games Lightning Deals section on the Video Games Deal of the Day page (http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_6716412_1&docId=1000208101) (generally have to scroll down to see it).

How often and when do the deals change?
Daily, and usually right around 12am Pacific time (1am Mountain, 2am Central, 3am Eastern).

Do these deals sell out?
It depends - the Lightning Deals will often sell out and fairly quickly at that (generally in less than an hour) if it's a recent / popular game or a really decent price. So if the clue sounds at all like something you're interested in, stay close to that keyboard. The Deals of the Day have been known to sell out from time to time, but it's more rare and more often than not if it's sold out early in the day it will become available again later in the day, at least briefly.

Any other little useful tidbits I should know about?
Yes!
1. Becoming a member of the ECA (http://www.theeca.com) can grant 10% off your video game and/or accessory orders at amazon.com (when the codes are up at least). Check other threads on ECA and the discount for more info.
2. amazon.com gives FSSS (free super saver shipping) on all orders over $25. The handy thing is that in the event a Lightning Deal drops a $25+ game's price below $25, the FSSS still kicks in based off of the original price. Hooray!
3. While I would be more than happy to maintain this thread daily, it'll probably never be able to stay out of the graveyard due to the time when the deals are updated; someone will be always able to post new threads before I can update. If anyone is interested in reusing this faq, knock yourself out.

Good to see that the game only lightning deals are back, this could be a good sign that they will run during the 5 day work week.

3 game lightning deals? only 1 might interest me, though.

The lightning deals I see are about movies and music and the Deal of the Day is BBC Earth on BluRay.

This is like the 3rd time they've had the Bigs 2 on sale at this price in the past few months. I grabbed it the first time and have been enjoying it. It does get a little repetitive after a while. I'm at the end of the 4th season in Legend mode. I bought it to play with friends though, as I think it'll be more entertaining than the other 2k games which are mostly garbage.

WOW!
I would have come across the deal of the day in my normal hunting, but I don't think I EVER would have come across the lightning deals.

For everyone that has a time machine, Fry's had the Spring DS Lite Bundle for $90 a couple months ago.

Or you know, just for reference to what Amazon might have it at.

I think they started the lightning deals only last week. I remember Infamous ($40) and Wet ($20) on different days, both for the PS3 only. Wet was infamous for selling out in a couple of mins due to the heavy discount and the fact that ECA code can be used to bring it down to $15 (the code took a 10% discount from the original sale price).

I'm going to throw my guess on the 10AM deal (with a bit of wishful thinking) on Raiden IV (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0029MAXPE/).

The 9AM PDT one is posted, and as suspected, it is the green DS with the Personal Trainer: Cooking title.

$99.98 after the Gold Box discount.

What do you guys think the last Goldbox deal is? It sounds like it could be Brutal Legend, but that would be really soon for that to be a deal.

bah, compared to the Wet deal on Friday, this is a little disappointing. If it was a DSi, then we may have a sellout quickly again.

The last video game lightning deal is high school musical. The lightning deals you're talking about are likely not video games at all, since Amazon has recently created a lightning deal section specifically for video games.

It clearly is NOT Brutal Legend.

"Get a killer deal on this brutal looking axe"

Now if you switched the words around, it could be Brutal Legend but it will be this.

The DS Lite deal sold out... dang. I've put together a $75 trade over the weekend to get the $30 Amazon coupon which I was going to use for a DS Lite this coming holiday season as I gave my previous one away to my neice when she visited.

Fingers crossed DS Lite drops in price in the coming months so I can snag one for myself...

Odds are your post wasn't there when he made his. Also, GODDAMNIT. Oh well, ECA codes still aren't back anyway.

Double also, I absolutely support there being an "official" DotD/Lightning Deals thread.

Dear OP,

You should ask CheapyD (or a different mod) to put this back onto the main deal forum, he might have not realized it was going to be updated daily. Also, you should put the current DotD/Lightning Deal in the title. Another also for your little FAQ there, you should include the fact that Free Super Saver Shipping goes by the pre-Lightning Deal price, so say X-Men Origins: Wolverine Uncaged Edition turns out to be $20 today, you don't need filler.

Love, Skoad

PMd Shrike about it, sounds like I shouldn't bother with maintaining a dotd thread unless I can update it daily at 12am Pacific which isn't going to be possible. Too bad, would've been fun. Anyone that wants to borrow the mini faq for future posts is of course more than welcome.

Yar, no disagreement here. The whole reason I wanted to maintain one was to help with the clutter of having 1-4 (depending on how many lightning deals) amazon video game dotd threads every day. But that'll likely be unavoidable even if I could keep this thing updated / bumped, so no big whoop.
