Hey guys, my VCR just broke down on me yesterday and I am looking for one that doesn't have the problems that it suffered....basically it stopped accepting tapes and had problems when trying to eject it....Also maybe there's a good deal on the DVD/VCR combo ones but I'm wondering if there's a model that has that can use the VCR to record the DVD you are watching....Thanks for you help....

Wait a few weeks, there will be some crazy deals coming up at Sears and stores like that, since it is kind of close to Thanksgiving...

WalMart has a Sanyo DVD/VCR combo for $99. It has progressive scan and TV Guardian if you have small children.

None of the DVD/VCR combos at WalMart have macro-vision bypass. The only brand I know of that does is JVC and you won't get one of those for less than 150 bucks.

It bypasses the macro vision software on the DVD to allow you to copy it to a vhs. The manufacturers dont advertise this feature because they dont want any flack from the movie studios.

^^I've been trying to do some extensive research on that subject. I went through a lot of DVD/VCR combo reviews and got this Toshiba http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0001FV35U/qid=1097535931/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl23/103-4847067-4879808?v=glance&s=electronics&n=507846
I got it from BB for $120 with tax....It tapes from the DVD to VCR but only those tapes with out copy protection (damn it basically all movies)...However I'm considering buying one of these products: [url]http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=13&products_id=2950
or

I'm wondering If anyone has used these DVD Decoders or known someone who has and if they are effective in combating Macrovision. Also since I have the Combo DVD/VCR will any of these work to make that Macrovision problem go away....
