take the game, a copy of the printout or whatever you have that shows the 39.99 price, and go to Customer Service

Yeah its that simple. Depending on the cashier might make things take longer if they want to be difficult. I had them pricematch GB recently and just told the cashier that I had asked someone in the games section if the ad was acceptable and that the person said yes, and showed the ad to cashier, the guy at the register said ok and fixed the price and had a manager come over to put in the password. Then walked out the store.
Edit:Correction- I paid for it then walked out of the store.

I'm a little confused, since there are 3 different answers...
Do we take the game and Target printout to the cash register?
Do we take the game and Target printout to customer service?
Or
Do we take the game and the Target printout to the cash register, pay full price, and then go over to customer service and have it price matched?
Because doesn't Best Buy do the thing where they not only price match but they also take another 5 or 10 percent off?
The reason that I ask, is people were doing the third option with the DVD seasons during the Big Lots DVD sale. Where they payed full price at the register, took the DVD's to customer service, price matched, and got them for the Big Lots price plus 5 or 10% off.

Take Target printout, leave in car.
Go to Best Buy, buy Fallout 3 GOTY edition for full price.
Go to car, take Target printout out and go back into store.
Take to customer service, tell them to price match the Fallout 3 GOTY edition to the Target printout.
If the employee doesn't live under a bridge and eat little children, it should be easy.
Leave with Fallout GOTY, go home, die playing through the game.

haha, I totally forgot people were buying this for other systems. Which doesn't make sense since the PS3 has the most inferior version of the game.
Just curious, why is the ps3 the most inferior version, i grabbed the ps3 version but i have all 3 systems (4 if you count pc). i like ps3 better all around and prefer the dualshock 3 compared the the xbox controller but if theres a notable reason to go with the xbox version i'll exchange it before i open it, quick reply would be appreciated, btw, thanks op

Both versions are almost the same, there really isnt any inferior version. The PS3 version used to have more glitches/bugs but thanks to updates it has all been fixed. they are pretty much similar now..360 version has slightly better graphics.

They're not "virtually the same" as one of the posters said. The PS3 version is still riddled with bugs, just go on gamefaqs.com to see all the complaints.
Im a huge ps3fanboy, really dont see the point of owning a 360...but if you have both, get thee 360 version. Or the PC one, if you dont mind gaming on your monitor.

Wow, I actually got BB to PM Target. Usually my BB is a pain in the ass. All I did was walk up and tell them about Target's price, the cashier went to a room and checked online, the manager walked over and authorized it without even looking at the deal, and I walked out happy.

I didn't want to, but it was the only plastic case for the game that they had, so when I took it up the girl @ the cash register told me that the paper would work with any version. When I took it to customer service to get price matched, it was not the same story. So, since I payed over 60 bucks I decided to take it to a store that actually has the Xbox version still and exchange it. The store locator lies, btw.

Tried the BB in White Marsh, MD, got turned down. Said that because the Target next door wasn't honoring the price and they had it in stock. So, I'm like whatever, and go to Target, after about 30 minutes of them thinking it's in stock and then almost getting a rain check, no dice, because they had the same PDI(?) and the rain check would just print for the one that they had in stock. So, I might try another BB and see where that gets me.

Good suggestion for those looking for more than one game and I agree about the driving around part (I did my fair share of it), but spending a $40 Target gift card is a bit different than spending $120 to get the deal. Can you actually even get this deal at Target? I thought it was a DPCI mixup. For me, I just was not ready to spend quite so much.

I would print one out now just in case, and if it's still up on whatever day you go to exchange it, (or this Sunday) print out another one in case BB tells you it's an old deal, so you can show that you did find it today.

You'd actually only have to spend $80. And, you'd get another $40 game or less for free.
So you'd probably pay for the price matched Fallout 3, some other game, and then get another for free.

I assumed B2G1 was buy 2 $60 games ($120) get 1 $60 game free. $120 for 3 games is $40 each. You do usually get the lowest price game free right? I also assumed the Target deal would be dead and no PM would be available. My main point is getting one new release for $40 is sometimes a better deal than 3 for $120.
EDIT: Another thing to consider is if you have to PM an item you are likely to negate the automatic discount at the register. Any time a manager has to put in their code, all automatic deals usually get hosed. You may then have to have a cool manager apply all discounts which is not always done.

Another thing to consider is if you have the money and don't want to waste a spot in the B2G1 deal then you should PM Target's 40$ Fallout GOTY, and save the spot for other things that are not already on sale for the 40$ price point. Save it for something that is still 60$.

So it now says on Target's website that the GOTY edition for PS3 is available online only for $39.99 (you have to add it to your cart to see the price). They also have the regular Fallout 3 for PS3 on sale for $39.99 with free shipping. I see the DPCI numbers are still the same but the catalog numbers are definitely different. Dunno they may send you the regular version anyway but you'd definitely be able to throw a fit when they do. The ASIN, (which is Amazons Standard Identification Number) is correct for each game. I'm not entirely sure why that's showing on the Target website, but I know nothing about Amazon/Target so maybe that's normal?
I see Amazon is selling the PS3 version from Target for the same price. It doesn't qualify for amazon prime or free shipping though since it's not from Amazon directly. My total in cart was 45.74.

After seeing that Target had the PS3 version back up for $39.99 I tried a few Target stores in my area and had no luck. On a whim I entered a BB that was near the last Target I went to and after explaining the situation to the guy in the games section and showing him the page online I managed to score it for $44 including tax without needing a printout. :D
So if anyone out there goes to price match this at BB and you lack a printout of the Target page, just tell them about the sale and have them check the Target website. Just make sure you don't mention that you already tried Target and they sold out (assuming you did in the first place) because a lot of stores have a policy that if it's out-of-stock in a nearby competitors store, they won't sell it to you. :cold:

I said last night even thought I printed it on the 20th then he said he would have to call the Target to verify and I said okay. The guy rifled through some papers then just gave up looking for the number I guess and gave it to me for $39.99.

I guess I got in on this just in time. Printed out the PS3 version at around 10 PST, and went into Best Buy to price match around noon. Second to last copy left, got no hassle, and the manager already knew what was going on. Ended up buying Ghost in the Shell on bluray too, even though everywhere has it listed as being released in a month.

Got my PS3 copy at BB in Fullerton, CA today hidden behind Ninja Gaiden 2. PM'd it at register 7 off of my Blackberry running the standard, not mobile Target site. Another game to add to the backlog. Thanks OP

I printed out the target PS3 link on 10/20, went to BB near my job but they were out of them but would be getting some in next week. I used that same printout and decided to give it a try today at the same BB on my way home because of the reverting back to 39.99 link for the PS3 version. I had to take the print outs to CS but with a little patience and waiting for them to (check or make me wait around a bit) verify Got my PS3 copy matched & used my RZ card and $5.00 off card. Good thing i gave it a shot today (they had 6 more copies) because they probably won't be around because of the b2g1f sale. thanks CAG'ers

Went to the Washington Square and Beaverton BB in OR yesterday and both sold out of the GOTY. Bummer.

does anyone have an image of the printout they used to the PM the PS3 version? target's website now shows it as no longer in stock.
Great job guys. It's a great game. I'm sure that you will have a lot of fun with it.
PS3 owners, I have heard that the extra downloadable content doesn't work so well. Is there any truth to this?

yeah dude, that's so not true, read some of the things people are posting here on CAG or Slickdeals, alot of the managers don't even ask questions or look at the PM printout.

I got it price matched at Wal-Mart as well. Cashier called someone up and explained what was on the print-out and they approved it.

Can i just say that i'm shocked, that this is still being accepted. Target doesn't even have it listed on their site for this price anymore.
Don't get me wrong. It's an awesome game and u should get it as cheap as you can.
But WOW.
EDIT
Never mind its back up. That's cool.

Sigh, no go at the Walmart in New Bern, NC. They say they only match printed advertisements. No Best Buy within 50 miles of me, and the Gamestop here doesn't PM. It looks like I'm out of luck.

This game isn't really a $60 game in my opinion, so i'm glad I got the deal. I love Oblivion, but i'm having trouble getting into Fallout... it's just not as fun to play in a realistic world... I guess i'm weird, but I play games to escape from reality.

I personally think this is a much greater game than oblivion and with the expansions is really worth at least $60

Well I got shot down at yet another Wal-Mart today; these stores are adamant about it having to be in a printed ad, even though that shit isn't mentioned anywhere on their site. The woman today showed me one of Wal-Mart's circulars that said "Bring in a competitor's printed ad and we will match their price." I pointed out that it didn't say anything about only matching printed ads and she wasn't having it.
The next store I go to I'm bringing in their PM policy printed out and I'm going to ask them where it says that in their policy (it doesn't).

Did the same, ordered from Target via Amazon.com and came to $45.42 shipped for GOTY edition on PS3.
Edit: Canceled the order, prefer the Amazon buy $80, get $40 offer and get it straight from them. But it worked fine.

Oh, and by the way, just noticed that the PS3 version is fixed on Target today. Listed at $59.99.
And it's now...back at $39.99. Also, it's now orderable online (through either target.com or amazon.com from Target), which I just did. Like the others, $46.11 after shipping and taxes. I finally get to spend my target gift certificate from last Christmas.
Edit: Canceled the order, prefer the Amazon buy $80, get $40 offer and get it straight from them. But it worked fine.
Bah, this didn't cross my mind. Wish I would've read it earlier. Target.com says my order can't be canceled now, because it's being prepared for shipment :(
Edit: Did that even work, by the way? The promotion details says that the items have to have amazon.com as the seller. Oh well, I think I had to order from target.com to use my gift certificate, anyways.

I think he means he paid the higher price to Amazon and combined it with another game to get the credit.

Correct. You can't combine Target's price and Amazon's promo, but I decided for the additional $10 (Amazon=$56, Target=$46), I can get another game and get the $40 credit on a future game. Target's price is still a good deal, but I prefer to buy on Amazon and it came about the same in the end all things considered. And I get 2 day shipping w/ Prime.

Finally unloaded my $40 gift card on the PS3 version via Target online. Happy to do so, especially after repeat visits to three separate brick and mortar Targets with no luck.
The Amazon.com deal was tempting ($80 for $40), now that they finally lowered their price to $39.99, but like madcatz said, I had giftcards with Target to unload.
**EDIT: Can the OP please remove the "Dead" monicker on this thread...this deal is very much alive and worthwhile.
