How much is overnight shipping? And overnight shipping is guaranteed to arrive on release date right? I might to do overnight shipping if it's still less than $60 with shipping.

$37.99 for me with the ECA coupon. Wow!(Well $53.99 - $6.00 - $15.00 coupon for next game)...
Awesome! I have another $10.00 Coupon coming from Dragon Age. My next game is going to cost $35, plus probably another $10 coupon. Looks like Bioshock 2 is going to be cheap! :) I am starting to love buying from Amazon more than Gamefly.

First let me tell you your math is terrible. $59 - $15 is not $45, it's $44. People can't even do simple subtraction, damn.
Second, how do you just take the gift card off the original price? It doesn't cost $44* it costs $59. The gift card is for a future purdhase so you're math is terrible.
Thanks for the post anyway

Whos getting it for PC? I'm not trolling/starting anything i'm just actually considering it because i enjoy matchmaking like the xbox does with MW1. I wouldn't mind getting it on pc if it was like that. With the 15 dollar off i'll get Xbox most likely but still.

really? so $20 for a bulky steel case, and art book you'll glance through a couple times in your life, and a decade old game that you'll never play because you'll have mw2 is not lame?
so 90$ for cheap ass nvgs (probably of low quality and durability), said things above, and the potential to raise the videogame standard price if the version sells well is not lame?
care to rethink your definition of lame?

If you're really interested in getting in from Amazon for the $15 credit, I'd order it before this week ends. I remember the first time they offered $10, the price was $52.99(I may be wrong on this, forgot what the price was then) they took away the $10 credit offer for a good minute(Right when I was about to order too.. ). Then after a week or two, the price went to $59.99 and they started offering the $10 again. You never know if they might pull out the offer so just order ASAP if you really want it. Shipping depends, if you get FSSS, probably about a week. Standard probably take you about 3-5 days, usually 3 or 4 days. Depends also where you're located at. Hoped this helped.

If you want midnight release, go ahead and do that and keep your receipt. Then wait for your Amazon shipped copy to come, return that to Gamestop. You have 30 days to do so. I've done this a number of times.

I'm not trolling here but someone please explain to me how this deal is better than Walmart's. I'm still relatively green here and I'm just looking at the math and not the stores.
Walmart 59.82 - 5.98 (10% Bing CB) - 15$ (eGift card) = 38.84 (not including shipping + tax)
Amazon 59.99 - 15$ (amazon credit) = 44.99
I guess tax and shipping might make the difference for some amazon customers (depending on location), but if you get the site-to-store shipping in Walmart, it's just tax then.

Um, no. That means you can use Bing for your Amazon purchase will get you nothing. If you can use your Amazon ODST gift card, then I can use my $50 gift card from easter and get it free at Walmart.
Bing can be considered, but not other gift cards. The better deal to me would be Walmart (unless if the gift card can only be used online-which I don't think that's the case) The reason I'd choose Walmart is being able to go to the store and can purchase anything, socks, boxers, deodorant, food.

Take Bing out of the equation, as ECA counters it. So then they come out the same except for the free shipping and no sales tax (in most states) from Amazon. That's why people see it as the better deal.
But hey, nobody is telling you where to shop.

Um, no. The Amazon ODST credit is not a gift card. It is a promotion. Regardless, you can't use either the $15 Wal-Mart card or the $15 MW2 credit because neither give you a discount on purchase, it is a discount on your next purchase.

Eca -10%(atleast). Either you already have it pre-ordered with eca, or you can get a code before the game comes out(codes will be back before this game is out unless amazon kills the deal)
60 - 6 - 15 = 39$. So it equals wal-mart's price before tax, not to mention all the people with other promos and trade-in credit to amazon over the past few months.

Walmart Price = $ 59.99 + tax at $ 59.99 - 6 Bing - $ 15 GC = $ 44.84 using CA 9.75% tax.
Amazon Price = $ 59.99 - $ 15 Amazon Credit = $ 44.99

Bing CB= Bing CashBack. It's basically just an incentive to use Bing. Bing creates deals with sellers and if people search for items through Bing and buy from certain retailers (in this case, Walmart), the buyer gets 10% of their purchase back through Bing. I believe it has to go through Paypal, but I'm not 100% sure.
I have a question..I haven't bought a game via Amazon since they came out with the Release date delivery shipping option and I was wondering if I pick the free shipping I won't get it on the release date anymore? I used to with the free shipping and now I have to pay?
Yea, if you picked Free Shipping, it should arrive at your house 2 days or more after the release of the game. You either have to pay for the release date delivery or sign up for Amazon Prime to get it regularly.
Mine says FREE Two-Day Shipping with a Free Trial of Amazon Prime... how do you get free release-date delivery?
Release-Date Delivery = 5.98
One-Day Shipping = 9.98
Also, I was going to sign up for ECA but the Amazon deals aren't working now. Anyone have a code that I could use?
If you sign up for Amazon Prime (even the trial), you should get free release day shipping. Also, people do not take nicely to people asking for ECA codes, so just a heads up...

Bing CB - is Bing Cashback. It's an online rebate program that you can use to get a percentage back on your online purchases to many online stores. Search google for Bing Cashback, however, you won't get rebates on gift card purchases or when using a coupon/promo code.
Alternatively, I can refer you to MrRebates which I believe is the better rebate program, because you still get rebates after using online coupon/promo codes or when purchasing gift cards. I can refer you and you'll get an additional $5. The percentages on rebates aren't usually as much as Bing's, but they have more stores and works better for me.

yeah it doesn't seem to make much sense. But its probably due to the fact that people are only preordering the prestige and hardenend editions (the ps3 prestige is already sold out!). The $15 for the standard is just to get more people ordering the standard edition instead. Just a guess.

Small game shops will do this just to get more customers from Gamestop. Don't hate on the small store trying to do what they can to make it or the guy who supports them.

Is the ECA discount not working (showing up) for anyone else? For Amazon under benefits it says...
"Amazon.com – get 10% off your games purchases at Amazon.com. Simply download coupon codes from the Benefits section once logged-in to your account. Then apply the code at checkout at Amazon.com. (This benefit is currently unavailable. Check out our forums for more details: http://forums.theeca.com)"

I'm noticing a trend with collector's editions and pre-order bonuses. They seem to be encouraging people to get the standard versions by offering less of an incentive towards the collector's editions (like with Dragon Age, where they just completely hosed the people who order the collector's edition).
I wonder if they are trying to get people who used the 50% off coupon to switch to the standard versions of these games for the better pre-order bonus. Maybe it cuts their losses, considering many people pre-ordered the prestige edition for a net total of just $50 ($150 - $75 [50% off promo] - $15 [ECA] - $10 game credit [pre-order bonus]).
If people were to switch their order to get the $15 bonus, it would work out to $59.99 - $30 (50% off promo, if it carries over) - $6 (ECA, if it carries over) - $15 video game credit = $8.99 net cost. That's dirt cheap, but it's still only $51 off retail price, instead of the $100 off retail price with the Prestige Edition. That's also assuming that the 50% off and ECA would carry over to the new order.

It says: "This offer will be extended to all existing pre-orders."
If anything, I would not email them about it given my past Amazon experiences. If they screw up and only give you the $10 credit, there is probably a good chance they will then send you the $15 credit in addition. When they make any sort of error, they are usually very generous remedying the problem. Plus, you could lose the $6 credit (unless you know it is a "j" code) which is more than the $5 you stand to gain.

Wow...I already have had this pre-ordered for $42.99...now with $15 promo credit makes it even better!
I recently pre-ordered SvR 2010 for only $38.59 + $10 promo credit.
Soon I'll have $25 promo credits...which I'll hold for Black Friday. Here's hoping that Demon's Souls has a deal...that or Borderlands. Then again, I'm real tempted on using $10 right now w/ ECA for Dragon Age Origins (which also currently comes with another $10 credit).
In other words...I've become quite addicted to these $10 promo credit deals lately. :)

I'm still buying the PS3 version. For COD4 and W@W, I bought both the PS3 and PC versions. PS3 mainly for single player and to be able to sit or lay back and play casual MP. The PC version for the dedicated clan servers, mods, bigger games, and more competitive play.
I guess this year I'll be saving some money. I'll still play COD4 and W@W though, great play and mods that will last for a good while.

Wow, way to be a dick! If you were as thrifty as the rest of the CAGers here, you would already have coupons stacked from past purchases since Amazon has been doing $10-$15 coupons for the big releases
for quite some time now. In which case, it does work out to be $45-$50. When you add ECA(If you have one left) and Prime membership(Free 2 day or release shipping) you save an additional 10+%. Not to mention no tax!!!
I picked up Dragon Age for $38 shipped and will do the same with COD MW 2 and Bioshock 2. So go ahead and waste your money... I'll enjoy reverting back to 1980 prices on my games.

I wouldn't be so worried about dedicated servers if IW would lay out how they plan on letting users upload custom maps and mods for play without them. I've been modding Call of Duty games since the first, and if I can't do that anymore I won't purchase it.

Agreed. The Collector's Editions are always cool, they're just not worth the extra cash, especially not in this case. $20 for the original CoD I played on PC six years ago? Man, they really screwed up the release of this game with the lack of the dedicated server option. Everybody I know was planning on buying a copy (some guys 2 copies, since they run servers at our LANs), but every last one of them has dropped the game like a hot potato now.
People talk about the death of PC gaming all the time, but when it really happens? It's not going to be because of lack of customers, or piracy, or any other bullshit reason the companies cook up. It's going to be because of the companies themselves making crappy decisions and developing for the lowest common denominator.

Amazon dropped ODST to $51 on the release date. Anyone think that could happen with MW2 as well? Could be $60 - $15 GC - $9 refund = $36?
I've also got a $30 promo code from a previous Amazon trade-in promotion, so if this all works out right, I could essentially be paying $6 for MW2. Would be a sweet deal.

Before, when Amazon was offering $10, I remember reading the fine print and it never said anything about one per household. That's why I felt good in the back of my mind that three copies would score me $30 in promotional credit.
But now that they raise it to $15 (for standard), it says one per household all of a sudden? What about my $30?! They just cut my credit in half and you guys are getting yourselves wet over it?!
You forgot alot of people still have the ECA code for 10% off in their account. So actually Amazon is 59.99-5.99(10% off)-$15 credit=39. A better deal when you consider tax.

What a sneaky way to cover your ass, Amazon. At least I got the ECA in before the hoarders/stackers ruined it, but I can't help but feel ripped off still. :bomb:
LOL at feeling ripped off, smell the coffee and wake up amazon can change any type of promo they want. Hell they could not offer anything to begin with. You dont like the deal cancel and buy it from somewhere else. Plain and simple. The majority is buying a "copy" for themselves and not 3 or 4 to sell on ebay or give to there brother, mama and cousin.

:oldman: What the Fuck is this sh1t? Shouldn't it be the other way around? I pre-ordered my copy a while ago with the 50% coupon and some credit I had.
Why should you get more $$$ back when you pay less?:bomb:
Just be thankful they're offering something. Amazon hasn't offered these game credits on other CE's/LE's while giving it to the regular editions (like NBA 2k10).
The $15 is to match Walmart on the regular edition; plain and simple. I haven't seen any sort of offers for the hardened or prestige editions, so what's Amazon's incentive to even offer anything more?

Why is it so hard to understand why the standard gets 15 and the other do not? Amazon is simply matching walmart's gift card. Is it really that hard to understand? No one else is offering anything more than a 10.00 gc on hardened or prestige so why should amazon increase the gift card on those editions?

The only way this deal could be beat is if Best Buy or Toys R' Us uffer a $20 gift card. Since we won't know that information for awhile you can always go ahead and preorder at Amazon, locking in the $15 gift card. If a deal does come along later you should have plenty of time to cancel the order on Amazon.

Yes i know its videogame credit that gets deposited into your amazon account.
I can see if its one per household , per item deal. Like you can't buy two regular editions and get 30$ back. it would only apply once.

This is great but also annoying in a way. My two brothers also want the game, (they would go to 2 different addresses) but if I buy one copy, the $15 credit won't be given until the item ships, so one brother will get it release day (I have Prime) while I'd have to wait until I get my credit before I use it on the 2nd copy, right?

the reason why the hardened edition has less of a credit is probably because its the luxury version of a video game, and Amazon probably figures anyone willing to spend extra on a special edition will buy it with or without the added discount and if they were trying to get a cheap deal they'd just buy the regular one.

And I don't think this is most of America:
The following is a partial list of merchants selling items at Amazon.com which may be included in your order, and the states in which they charge sales tax.
Amazon.com LLC: KS, KY, ND, NY* and WA
Amazon Digital Services, Inc.: KY, ND, NY* and WA
Magazine Express, Inc.: AL and WA
Synapse Services, Inc.: WA only
Target.com/ITC: All states other than AK and VT
I ordered this on October 15th, when i THINK The credit back was $10, Will amazon give me the 15$ credit instead? or do i need to cancel and re order?

Because that's what individual state laws dictate.
Back on topic: I suck at console FPS games, but this game is being raved by every single person and their mother. Think I should make the plunge? If so, should I snag it on the PS3 or 360? I can get it for $39 after ECA and factoring in the $15 return. Hmm.

amazon doesn't charge anyone tax-your state does. You shouldn't be pointing the figure at Amazon, they are just following your states law. I'm sure Amazon would love to not collect state taxes and get more sales. Also, I think technically, your suppose to pay tax on all internet purchases on your own if its not collected when purchased in any state that has taxes.
On topic, I just got an email saying my 10 dollar credit was changed to 15.

Actually if your state has a sales tax than online purchases are subject to sales tax. When you file your taxes in the majority of states you are required to list online purchases that were not taxed and submit payment for those items. (Of course the majority of people do not pay this tax but none the less your state tax code dictates that you are supposed to )
Oh and the reason I started to post is I am disappointed that the $15 credit does not apply to the Hardened versus. Maybe amazon will change this before the game ships.

There's no word on the expiration on this but the last few I got were good till the end of the year. Also keep in mind you can still use it towards preorders for games coming out next year.
As for ECA discount...yeah. It seems Amazon is no hurry to get these codes up (it really shouldn't take this long) so who knows when they'll be up. I'd love to add the ECA discount to this (I'd essentially be getting the game for $10) but I'm not really expecting them to be available by then.

I feel like I constantly have to explain how sales tax works and why some people are taxed and others aren't, but I'll do it again, just as a public service.
The sales tax issue is a constitutional law issue. States cannot force a business to collect sales tax if that business does not have a "substantial nexus" with the state. What this generally means is that a business has to have an office in a state before that state can require the business to collect tax from residents in that state. So, for example, there is an Amazon warehouse in Coffeyville, Kansas. All purchases made that are sent to Kansas addresses are charged state sales tax as a result. The same applies to any other state where Amazon has a corporate presence.
Now, where New York gets tricky is that it passed a law recently stating that it can collect sales tax from businesses who are affiliated with businesses that have a substantial nexus in New York. So, because Amazon has all those different affiliates, several of which are in New York I'm sure, Amazon has been able to collect sales tax in New York, despite not have a corporate presence in the state themselves. Now, this New York law is being challenged, and will be decided by the U.S. Supreme Court sometime soon. If they deem it unconstitutional, then Amazon will no longer be required to tax New York residents, but that is yet to be determined.

Now wait one damn minute...I think we're actually getting screwed by this new promo.
ECA should be reverted back to the people who actually paid for it. They wonder sometimes why they have such problems with coupon codes. I was fine using it the way it was intended, but this is one deal I want closed. It may be biased coming from someone who did pay for it, but need I remind ppl of the GCO?
That was run into the ground and HARD. I don't want to see amazon pull out on it's offer on ECA or continue to conveniently be OOS with codes when time comes for the time when most of the games are bought, or just one. For instance MW2.

I don't think free memberships were the problem. The actual problem was the 2x and 3x stack of ECA codes. Do you really think it was only free members causing a problem? Revert nothing, people should learn how to use a good deal without abusing the fuck out of it. But, this site is full of morons who'll never learn.
Whenever you hear ECA talk about this, they say Amazon took down codes to prohibit future stacking. While free members probably increased the volume of people who started doing this, anyone who's been stacking codes (that includes paying members) is part of the reason why Amazon is currently changing the codes. So I wouldn't just start blaming free members for these problems.
unclenebber
10-21-2009, 08:28 PM
Wasn't the stacking involving people using older codes that weren't available to the 'free' users. Therefore, shouldn't we assume that the majority of stacking was done by paying customers?

Just for some reading
NY Law: http://www.tax.state.ny.us/pdf/publications/sales/pub774_208.pdf Interesting to note that residents are supposed to pay sales tax on items bought out of state and brought in by the same person for use in NY ie buy a TV in New Jersey and you are supposed to pay NY state sales tax.
Missouri: (supposed to file quarterly?) http://dor.mo.gov/tax/business/faq/use.htm#q3
Iowa: (you get a credit and only pay the difference if you paid another state sales tax) http://www.iowa.gov/tax/educate/78539.html#UseTax

Right-o, chap. The nexus deals with physical presence, though I believe states are starting to use the "significant economic output" argument to establish the nexus, which is sure to be litigated.

I have a question with this. I already have the hardened ed preordered and I see it will be applied with the blurb they have on the website.
I brought Halo ODST and I got $10 promo from them.
I used this $10 to pre order Left 4 Dead 2.
So now L4D2 comes out 7 days after COD.
Can I combine this with my $10 Halo ODST deal and get $20 of Left 4 Dead 2?

I was one of the many free users, and the L codes were still around when I joined. There was PLENTY of them also, I think it was around for about 2 weeks after I joined. Then came the J's and the #'s. So I'm thinking the majority was the free ones.

I am now satisfied after seeing the Hardened edition get the $15 as well. I'm paying $63 total for it and I'm getting a $15 gift card. That is an amazing deal. I'll apply that $15 and my $5 from Uncharted 2 to get the God of War collection for less than $20. Hopefully ECA is back up by then.

Did I miss something? How are you paying $63 for the hardened? the MSRP is 80 and if you subtract the ECA discount, that means you got an extra $10 off?

Is this retroactive, do you know?
Pre-ordered it a while back.

It should be, since we pre-ordered it and Amazon sent emails to those that did stating the credit changed from $10 to $15.

Great job by Amazon! I also got the email that they were applying the 15 credit to my existing hardened preorder. I was thinking of cancelling and sticking with the regular edition before they sent that email.
I can't wait to see what they have in store for us on Black Friday!!

So standard and hardened get $15 credit, but the PRESTIGE gets a measly $10?! I thought Prestige customers would be treated equally, if not better, than the other customers given the price difference. If I didn't care so much about night-vision, I'd downgrade to the hardened! C'mon, Amazon, fix it up or I'm about to have a serious case of buyer's remorse... :bomb:
