View Full Version : What's up with all the shrink wrapped new games?
The last game I bought at TRU & Target were both shrink wrapped with that resealed type of plastic. I thought games were supposed to have a Y seal or something. Anyone else been finding their new games shrink wrapped?

no pics and no specific titles doesnt help.
i just got fallout 3 goty for PS3 and it looks like its resealed but its new from amazon and in the slipcase so i'll trust it.
Why would I need pics or title names? I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this with any games. One of them was Lost Odyssey I think.
yes all new Lost Odyssey is like that

well for one, you can get an answer if you specify a name. as you see, someone already replied about lost odyssey. if you dont have any more games you are concerned about, you could close the thread.
All I was asking is if anyone experienced this with any games. I can't remember what the other game was anyways. I just wanted to know if this is something relatively common, i.e. if anyone has experienced this recently.

I was browsing BBY today for some B2G1F games and noticed that both Fallout 3 GotY and Borderlands looked like they were resealed.
Two earlier games I noticed like that were Lost Odyssey and Ferrari Challenge (PS3).

I think it depends on the exact factory the game was packaged in.
My copy of Sonic Chronicles, bought new at TRU is in the standard plastic wrap sealed at the ends. But they also has copies, sealed in those big security boxes, which were clearly wrapped in some heat-shrink plastic.

^ Yes that is true. Project Gotham Racing 4 for the 360 is another example. Some copies have the Y Folds, others have the heatwrap. I know they both were new because they both have XBox Live Trial Stickers on the shrinkwrap and both had the security seal (this was at Sears).
A lot of PSP games especially those from EA are coming with the heat wrap type shrinkwrap. DS games have always had a mix of y folds and heat wrap.
I wish they would use security seals on all games because with games with heatwrap, it is difficult to tell if it is a new game or not.

Bought Borderlands for 360 and PS3 at BB (one for me, one for my brother), the 360 was Y sealed and the PS3 was the heat sealed

Most of the new games Ive bought recently were the same way.
Wow so this is very widespread. Good & bad.

I don't want to open my games at retail to make sure they're new if I decide not to keep it or want to resell it as new especially if someone gives me shit for it being shrinkwrapped.

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia on the DS was the last game I bought that came with the heatwrap seal.
