Looking to buy a 60 or a 80gb ps3. I know everyone loves the 60, but I hear ylod is very frequent with them. Im just curious as to the BC of the 80, and if its good enough to play mainstream PS2 games (i.e. Kingdom Hearts, Shadow of the Colossus, etc.) and is it worth the extra money to get a 60 over an 80?

You could buy a PS3 Slim and enjoy that on an HDTV, and the spend $99 and get a PS2 Slim and enjoy that on a tube TV (if you have one). Honestly, not many games take advantage of widescreen on the PS2, and they don't look all that much better on an HDTV (GF played Devil Summoner 2 on the HDTV and it didn't look all that great).

Oh, I have a 40gb, and was looking to upgrade for the card readers as well as BC. Saw an 80 for 190 and was curious if the BC was close to the 60gb BC

I have an 80 and haven't had any problem with the BC- but I haven't played a ton of games with it.

i have an 80gb bc system and the only game ive had major problems playing on it is ssx3. i dont know why it does it but when i do certain button combinations to pull of tricks the game locks up. if i remember correctly the same thing would happen with ssx on tour. i havent played kh or sotc on it yet i have both those games but I havent bothered to try them on it if you want i can put them in sometime and see.

Normally I would just tell you to go here:
http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/CompatibleStatus
But, it isn't 100% accurate.
I have an 80GB BC PS3 and the graphics in Fire Pro Wrestling Returns are medded up to the point of making it unplayable.
The Sony support site says
Description: The following conditions have been confirmed on PS3 System Software Version 2.30: Upon boot-up, various graphics jitter. All conditions have been resolved on PS3 System Software Version 2.40.
But that's bull.

The difference is enough. The 60 GB actually has the Emotion Engine of the PS2 inside it. The 80 GB uses software and non-PS2 hardware in it's stead. If you're insistent on getting an 80 GB, then at least get a used PS2 somewhere and look up some compatibility lists.

The 80GB compatibility is about 80% while the 60GB compatibility is about 99%. I would go with the 60GB. I had one before that had overheating problems, but when it came to get another, I still got a 60GB.

I would go for a 60gb. I've had mine since launch and no YLOD or any problems of any sort for that matter.
