Guess I shouldn't worry since my games shipped on the 30th. Still annoying that it takes longer than the more typical $5/$10 promo credits.

No $40 code yet for me either. I just received my games today (Demon's Souls and Borderlands), they shipped 3 days ago. I guess I have 4 more to go at most.

This kinda' sucks because I really want to get Dragon Age as it comes with another $10 and the extra in-game items. I don't want to miss out on those exclusive items, but I don't want to pay more money than I have to either.

Oh well...if I can't get the $40 in time before the Dragon Age deal ends...I'll just hold onto the $40 until I get my extra $20 from MW2, and save both for Black Friday.

Black Friday...both excited and nervous. Last year was crazy-insane! You had to jump on deals in like 5 par-secs or you'd lose out...but I got in on some great deals though. This time I'll be drinking lots of coffee before-hand. ;)

I've had this happen to me on a couple of occasions where I didn't receive my credit in a reasonable time and they simply gave me a refund.

I just sent them an email, so hopefully they will do that because I don't want to miss out on the Dragon Age deal. If they could either issue me a $40 refund or give me the code within a few hours, that would kick a lot of ass! :)

My games "shipped" on the 29th. The tracking number didn't even work until yesterday and now it's "electronic shipping info received" so who the hell knows when it'll actually go anywhere. This has to be the longest Amazon has ever taken to ship me something. I know it's free shipping, but jesus, the warehouse is less than 4 hours away, and I'd rather them not lie to me about when it ships.

Also, no code yet.

No code yet. Order placed on the 30th. How long are we supposed to wait, 7 or 10 days?

Also, does anyone know what's up with this notice on Amazon's page for Uncharted 2?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001JKTC9A/ref=oss_T15_product

One of my games for the promotion was Uncharted 2.. hope this doesn't change anything. Screen capped the thing just in case.

It's technically a 7 day waiting period once your order has shipped so I still have a few more days then I'll shoot off an email I guess.

OK time for slowdive's lesson of the day:

7 business days = 7 non-holiday weekdays (not counting the weekend)

If your order "shipped" 10/30/09, you should expect your code 11/9/09 (assuming amazon counts the day it shipped as the first business day)

Has anyone been able to get them to apply this to an already ordered product? I emailed them numerous times about adding the $10 (from ordering Brutal Legend) to my pre-order of MW2 (had an eca stack on it) and they won't do that. Saying that they can't combine 2 promotions or something. So, will I also not be able to have them add the 40 credit (one I get it) to it? Cause thats the whole reason I ordered games during this promotion!

11-03-2009, 09:03 PM
My order total was approximately $92. I placed the order on the 31st, it shipped on the 2nd and I got it today (prime shipping). I had a $10 promotional coupon automatically applied to it (from when my gf bought me either Batman AA or Beatles RB, not sure which), which brought it down to approximately $82. I haven't received my code yet. I'm not worried about it since I saw the 7 day wait thing, but I just hope that the $10 promotional coupon doesn't effect it in any way. Since the order was still over $80 and I had no choice but for the discount to be applied, I don't think I should have any problems. We'll see....

My order shipped on the 29th and just got my code not too long ago. I'm sure this has been answered already, but can this be used on multiple games?

1. Select a Wii, PlayStation 3, or Xbox 360 game sold and shipped by Amazon.com for purchase by clicking the "Add to Shopping Cart" button.

It says that in the e-mail, which makes it look like I can only use it on one game, but I'm hoping I can use it on multiple games as long as its one order.

You ordered on 10/28 and got your code today? I ordered on 10/31. I guess I can kiss goodbye my hopes of applying my $40 code to My Modern Warfare 2 pre-order.

And by the way, I was under the impression at this point this was something every amazon rep knew about. I just got off the phone with amazon. (For those of you wondering, the rep had an American accent - Not that there's anything wrong with it) and she was an extremely nice lady. But she knew absolutely nothing about it. She had to put me on hold like 4 times to go and ask other people, and in the end she wasn't able to find ANYTHING about this promotion. Do you know what I had to do? I had to read this URL aloud to her so she would write it down at the other end of the line (took my like 4 minutes) just to prove her I wasn't crazy:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&ref_=amb_link_85859891_3&docId=1000443011

She put me on hold once more, and after 5 more minutes she came back to the phone and told me exactly what I was dreading she would tell me.

"7 business days........BLAH BLAH BLA"

I just don't understand why amazon can't make this automatic. Let just the system take care of it. You order what you're supposed to, you get your code instantly.

Wait........ It's coming back to me now. Amazon tried some failed experiment back in the 50's about giving members of a game advocacy group free reign over a mysterious artifact that would spit 10% off videogame codes just one after the other. It was awesome. People couldn't believe it. It was like if it was raining money to help pay for your videogames.

THEN.............Came along some Fuckin Greedy Bastards who couldn't have too much of a good thing, and started stacking magic codes and killed the golden goose for good. And now, we're all fucked. Do you want a code billy? Wait for 2 fuckin weeks while a monkey in a basement processes it manually and emails it to you. We trust the monkey more than we trust those backstabbing sons of bitches who stacked the magic codes back in the 50's.

Never heard of this failed experiment from the 50's? True Story. They did it in a little town in rural America, then Amazon in conjunction with the goverment turn everybody into mutants and Nuked the town. People say you can still hear haunting deformed voices in the barren wasteland where the town used to sit howling: "Can I get 10% off? This will last forever right?"

Amazon really tried to fuck me over on this deal. I placed a order that totaled well over $80 but because I shipped one of the games to a friend that has another address they said I didn't qualify as this splits the order from a single order to two separate orders. So if your order went to multiple addresses you might be out of luck. And no where in the fine print did they say anything about this.

So I just sent an e-mail to Amazon about the code and got this response:
I was just given a $40 gift certificate for the www.amazon.com/games promotion after spending roughly $80 on games. I just wanted to know if I could purchase multiple games in one order and still use that $40 gift certificate. For instance, I wanted to purchase two $20 games, and was wondering if I could order them in one order and use the $40 certificate to cover the cost of both of them.

The response:
Yes, you can use the promotional credit the way you described. Once redeemed, the funds will stay on your account until used or expired, and can be applied to multiple orders if you wish. As long as the items in your order are sold and shipped by Amazon.com, the funds should apply.

I hope this information is helpful. Thank you for contacting us.

I was almost certain that the code could not be used on multiple orders, but this e-mail seems to say otherwise. I was really only planning on using the code to buy two $20 games in one order and wanted that clarified, but, according to the e-mail, I can use it on multiple orders. I'm guessing, as long as I have a record of this e-mail, I can do whatever the e-mail says, right?

Amazon stopped doing post-sale price adjustments more than a year ago, so I doubt that a CSR is going to give you one no matter how hard you try. See here: http://consumerist.com/5044911/amazon-ends-post+order-price-guarantee

Incidentally, for those who find themselves in TheBigmac's position and having to read the deal URL to a CSR over the phone, here's a somewhat shorter version that drops the unnecessary parameters:

Right, but they'll still do them on occasion, depending on the CSR. I've had mixed luck with it.

Well the only two games I plan on getting before the end of the year are Modern Warfare 2 and GoW Collection. I could use the $40 for GoW and just pay for the tax (amazon charges tax here in new york =\) but then I'd be left with nothing to spend the $20 on and from what I hear that will expire by the end of the year. I already have a huge backlog as it is so I really don't want to buy ANOTHER game on top of those 2. Besides, why pay $65 after tax for MW2 when I can pay $25?

I'm a little worried because one of the games I ordered was Borderlands which, from my understanding, was part of this promo in the beginning (and when I ordered it), but the day after my order, it wasn't eligible anymore. hmmm. I did get them to price adjust it down to $49.99 at least (but no dice on a R&C or Uncharted 2 price match), and my original total would have been just over $80, but under $80 after promo credits used. So, like someone else said, I'm not even opening the games until I get the $40 code.

I ordered mine on the 31st, games shipped the 2nd, received my games the 4th and I just received my code in my email this morning! I sent them an email but got a generic response saying the promotion says 7 business days after items shipped and that I should expect the code on the 10th but I got my code just 2 hours later. Just finished canceling my previous pre-order for MW2 and re-doing the pre-order using the code and got it for 21.76 after tax!

Has anyone tried applying the code to an existing preorder?

Incidentally, for those who find themselves in TheBigmac's position and having to read the deal URL to a CSR over the phone, here's a somewhat shorter version that drops the unnecessary parameters:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?docId=1000443011

Neat URL. Wish I'd had that one one I called the 1st time.

Anyway, I FINALLY got my code this morning (Ordered the 31st just before the promotion expired), and decided to play the CSR Russian roulette calling amazon and asked the rep to apply the code to my existing MW2 pre-order which already had 10% off ECA so it was $53.99.

This is in my opinion, the most important part of the phone call. If in the first seconds of the call you detect the slightest trace of bad mood, bad attitude or just plain laziness in the CSR who picks up , before giving them order numbers or anything, ABORT. Make up an excuse and get off the phone. You can call back and try your luck with another rep. They have gazillions and you will NEVER get the same person twice. I repeat, do this BEFORE giving them order numbers. If you don't play your cards right and get a douchebag on the phone and STILL decide to go ahead and give him your order number, you can hang up later if you want, but he will make a note on the order. And then you're fucked.

By the way, I had to read the code aloud so he could apply it, he tried the code and it didn't work. I thought I was looking at impeding doom but I suggested he read the code back to me and we realized one of the digits was wrong. Rectified the code, tried again, worked like a charm.

I'm looking at 13.99 - release date delivery.

Johny Drama style: VICTORYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!

My wife also pre-ordered a copy for her with 10% off ECA from her account (Yes, I'm married to a Modern Warfare gal) so I'm looking at 53.99 for her copy and 13.99 for my copy. That totals $67.99. I got both copies for what I'd have paid just for 1 copy at Worst Buy.

Remember guys, It all depends on the CSR who picks up the phone and whether he just got a BJ in the morning or bumped his pinky toe against the fridge instead. Good luck.

It took Amazon 5 days to send my code (order shipped Fri 10/30, code received Wed 11/4).

It sucks that this code only works on one PS3/360/Wii game... I was hoping to pick up some cheap games during BF or something.

The fineprint says 'usable towards a future Wii, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 game purchase'. Does the $40 coupon only applies on a single game?

Another question. Will the $40 coupon stack with ECA and one of those $5 game specific coupon (such as RATCHET3 and AMZNACII)?

Was anyone else's order split up into two orders? I ordered Borderlands and Ghostbusters, they shipped on the 27th and Amazon split the order into two. I haven't received my code yet...

I was able to stack the $40 credt with the AC2 coupon to get $45 off. I don't know if you can use it on an order of 2 games. You shouldn't have a problem if they're over $40 though.

Does the $40 coupon only applies on a single game?Yep, tried it the other day. The discount only applies to one game.

Another question. Will the $40 coupon stack with ECA and one of those $5 game specific coupon (such as RATCHET3 and AMZNACII)?Wouldn't let me stack them when I tried with the above method. I tried applying ECA + $40 credit + Ratchet code. You can try checking out with a game(s) and try applying them for yourself at the last step of checkout and then remove the games(s) from your cart. Amazon will save your ECA and $40 credit.

Thinking about using the credit (which I haven't received yet) on God of War III. My concern is that since the coupon expires at the end of this year, but God of War III doesn't come out until next year, and Amazon doesn't charge you until your order ships, will my coupon still be good or will it have expired? Any ideas?

Amazon really tried to fuck me over on this deal. I placed a order that totaled well over $80 but because I shipped one of the games to a friend that has another address they said I didn't qualify as this splits the order from a single order to two separate orders. So if your order went to multiple addresses you might be out of luck. And no where in the fine print did they say anything about this.

Damn... I also shipped one of the games to a friend. Ordered on 10/28 and still haven't received my code. Haven't e-mailed them yet since I figured I would wait it out... but I guess I should see what's taking so long. They better not screw me over on this one!

Right, but they'll still do them on occasion, depending on the CSR. I've had mixed luck with it.

That Consumerist article pisses me off. They lift the thread from SLICKDEALS, but it was reported here first (by me). I didn't realize that fucker on SlickDeals lifted my post. Jerk. (Yes, over a year later)

Also, running into a little problem getting one of my credits, but I'm sure it'll work out in the end...

It seems like I already said this in here but yeah, I had to email them and the response seemed surprised that I hadn't gotten the code. The code was in their response. It took like 6 hours on... Friday I think.

Dropped it on MW2. I wasn't going to but then I remember the $20 credit from MW2 and had to bite. Now to decide where to eventually spend that credit.

What do you mean? The two games that I was referring to were $29.99 and $27.99, plus I ordered a DS game on top of that. Upon checkout, and after applying the code, $40.00 was taken off of my whole order.

They "resent" my code today. They claimed to have sent it before and assume that it got caught in my spam filter, even though there has never been an Amazon email caught in my spam folder in the past. I really don't get why they didn't just auto credit our accounts with gift cards like they do when they have MP3 deals.

I attempted to pick up Tales of Vesperia and Mass Effect and it only was taking off 27.99 for Tales. I ended up getting Brutal Legend(I was going to wait for this to drop in price, but if the price is free well....). So at least for me it only would apply to one game not the whole order.

That's weird. I'm guessing Mass Effect was sold by Amazon as well? If it was a "Fulfilled by Amazon" purchase, it wouldn't have worked.

All this is quite strange @_@ Were you able to use the whole $40 discount, at least? After I applied the code to my first order and saw that it would not allow me to apply the whole $40 discount, I removed everything and then readded everything to the cart. The discount credit showed up under payment options and then it let me use the whole $40 like it was credit under my account and not just a promo code. It took me a while to figure it out.

11 days after my order shipped, I still hadn't gotten the $40 promotional credit. Contacted Amazon via email and they actually REFUNDED $40 to my credit card.

Would've been glad just get the credit on my Amazon account -- which is exactly what I asked for -- but heck, you can't beat a $40 refund instead.

Wasn't Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers (Wii) part of the
promotion? According to Amazon's response, it wasn't. Next
time, I'm going to save a copy of the webpage. I could
have sworn that it was part of the deal, although I could have
mixed up the 360 version with the Wii version.

=================================================

My two, qualifying games were shipped together on October 29th.

I would rather them add a $40 code to my account. I guess with
the way that they did it this time, some people may not see the
e-mail, and Amazon would pocket $40.
