"Each promotional claim code can be used only once, even if the full promotional credit is not used."

That's good to know. Wouldn't want to blow $40 of credit on a $15 DS game.

But I don't have $80 to spend on this. It's sort of like a B2G1 if you're looking at all $40 games. Otherwise its kind of all over the board with how much this saves you depending on what you buy.

10-26-2009, 09:20 PM
Nice deal. Too bad I already did TRU's B2G1 and the $20 credit for COD, and there's no way I'm going to play through all that stuff before the end of the year. Also, gotta save up for Black Friday. Too many deals.

Really wanted Ratchet and Clank...

I think I may jump on this, though I'm going to run buy Best Buy first...

I could do both and then use the $40 credit along with the $20 from COD to preorder Mass Effect 2...or something.

How come Gamestop hasn't gotten into the game?

This is a great deal. I bought a $53 dollar game, and a $27 dollar game and will get a future $40 credit. Much better than B2G1 as you can get several cheaper games, and as long as you exceed the $80 limit, you get the $40 credit. Great Find OP

Depending on what you get from Amazon, you could actually get a deal. I was planning on doing this:

Uncharted 2 - $55
Borderlands - $54
--------
Total = $109
+Free $40 GC

Then I could order CoD:MW2 with the GC (the gift card can be used on any game purchase right?)....

CoD:MW2 - $60 - $40 GC = $20
+Free $20GC with purchase of MW2

So you would pretty much get MW2 for Free.

Decisions... Decisions...

# Offer is not for resale and is not redeemable for cash.
# Offer cannot be applied to orders already placed with Amazon.com.

Fallout 3: GOTY
Prince of Persia
----------------------
Total: $82

That was as close as I could get to the $80-sweet-spot. I missed seeing the Promotion: -$8.XX. Goodbye ECA, we hardly knew thee. I wish Ratchet & Clank: ToD was available. Would've probably grabbed that instead of PoP.

If Amazon keeps this up Black Friday is going to be absolutely insane.

Some of you that are on the fence why don't you just wait a couple days. They could add Ratchet and Clank or Tekken 6. I've went through a few pages and haven't seen any pre-orders. So just see if they add the game once its released.

10-26-2009, 10:07 PM
I can't make this worth it. All I want is MW2 and possibly Fifa 10.

The closest I can get is to trade in a game with high value and end up with Fifa and MW2 for $94 + $20 credit...

Not bad, but I already have MW2 preordered with Walmart for $40, so hell with it

Im going the cheap ass way...

:wii: red steel - 19.49

:360: fifa street 3 - 12.79
:360: project gotham racing 4 - 18.99
:360: prey - 16.51

total = 84.40

I'll probably pick up another 1 to 3 games with the 40 dollar gift card. So basically would be getting 7 to 8 games for 84.91. Not bad at all.

I'm probably going to wait a few more days to see if the eca codes come back.

question.... i preordered mw2 for $40 a month ago (after eca and credit).

my plan is to use this deal, and since amazon doesn't charge until the item ships, use the promotional code on my mw2, making the grand total $0 (with $20 credit).

however, it the fine print it says "Promotional claim code may not be combined with other offers in the same order. Generally, only one promotional claim code may be used per order."

i used eca, so i'm wondering of my plan would work?

Borderlands, Brutal Legend, and Ultimate Alliance 2. i'm thinking of buying two of them with this sale, but i'm hesitant because i have tekken 6 coming in tomorrow, and then GTA episodes next week, MW2 the week after, and Assassin's Creed 2 2 weeks after that. basically by the time i could have time to play the games i buy now, it will already be black friday and i could possibly get them at the same price or cheaper then.

Hmmm, if I get Uncharted 2 and the Watchmen Complete Experience, then use the $40 on Ratchet and Clank, I'll get all three for about $100, which makes Uncharted 2/Ratchet cheaper than had I taken part in BB's sale. However, I do lose the reward zone points, which would bring me really close to another $10 GC.

Or I could do Katamari Forever and Resident Evil 5 and then use the coupon on either Uncharted 2 or Ratchet and Clank, hmmmm.

Really wish I could find something to get with Metroid Prime Trilogy.

Im having the same thought. I already have most of what id want from the eligible list. I was thinking:

Metroid Prime
Dead Space
?

But im drawing a blank for the 3rd game to get it over 80. I already have things like Mass effect and gears that would get it over the hump but not by too much. Bah...

Like evryone else has already said - this would be so much easier if R&C was on the list.

Does anyone see anything in the check out page that you'll be getting $40 credit?
When I go to the games now, the offer does not show and it use to.
mbartholow: Raiden IV is not worth $37 IMHO. My friend and I played it for 15 minutes before deciding to never play that again. We were frustrated that the enemy boss shots lacked pattern and the only way to block was to use a bomb. It must be my least favorite shooter.

Well, you kind of made my decision. I can pretty much get Borderlands and another game for cheap right now, but I really wouldn't have time to play it anyway.

I can't be tempted.

I was thinking though...
Borderlands - $53.99
Midnight Club Los Angeles or GTA 4 or FABLE 2 - $27.99

53.99 + 27.99 = about $82 and I'd get a $40 gaming credit back.

I plan to buy L4D2 anyway which is listed for 55.99.
55.99 - $40 = about $16

$82 + $16 = $98
$98 - $55.
I would get both games for $43. Decisions, decisions!

I added Punch-Out! and Boom Blox Bash Party to my cart, and I didn't see the "Promotion Applied: -$0.00" in the cart like I normally would for some of the other "buy X, get $Y back" promotions. Both are in the list, and initially, each one had the "Buy $80 worth, get $40 back" promotional box listed in the item description.

I checked my past pre-orders that gave credits on pre-orders, Brutal Legend, KH 356/2 Days, Uncharted 2 and NSMB, and they all have the "Promotion Applied: -$0.00" listed in the cart.

I'm going to wait until tomorrow and give this a try then, just in case they don't have the promotional codes wired in correctly on their side.

I dunno, this seems like a better deal for lower priced games, or a mixture. I went in on BB's B2G1 for Demon's Souls, Borderlands, and Borderlands for a friend(he's giving me $40.) So, Borderlands and Demon's Souls for about $80 from BB, or for about $115 with $40 in credit coming back to me.

Unless I'm missing something?

EDIT: Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm is $36.99, and Muramasa is $46.99. That would get me to where I need for the $40 back...can I get myself to pull the trigger?

EDIT 2: What the crap is up with my Amazon account? ECA codes are all canceled out and removed, right? Why do I get this:

Items: $83.98
Shipping & Handling: $5.48
Super Saver Discount: -$5.48
Promotion Applied: -$8.40
Total Before Tax: $75.58

I do know that all previous pre-order credit bonuses that get auto-applied to your account (ODST, KH, etc.) that I have ordered automatically applied and stacked together without an issue. The wording for this promo makes it sound like they'll give you an actual promo code that you can use to apply to your order.

Because that's usually how it works, it tags your account with a 0.00 promotion, almost as if verifying the deal went through. It records the discount code or whatever it is on the back-end of things for Amazon. I've been told that the $0.00 promotion bit has to be on there for it to be valid.

these codes do stack, but, you can't apply them like gift card credit. They show up like a promotion when you purchase your next video game, if you have two, two apply. So, all orders would have to be cancelled and reordered for them to work. You can call or email Amazon to have them apply the credit on your account to an existing order. Awesome deal. I had a $15 credit from ODST that I used on Fable 2 Platinum Edition, but the release date got kicked back a few months. Sent an email to Amazon to see if I would lose my $15 credit if I cancel the order. I know normally that is the case, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask given the delay. I'm still thinking about it, but I hope to end up like this:

Borderlands and L4D - $65 after $15 ODST credit
Modern Warfare 2 - $20 after $40 promo credit
Fable 2 Platinum Edition - $10 after Modern Warfare credit

Ah, this deal is starting to worry me. I've emailed Amazon, but sometimes when I tend to go deep into detail about promotion, they tend to have no clue what I'm talking about and reply with something completely irrelevant.

I just hope I can get my Borderlands and Demon's Souls, and the $40 credit.

Another issue is that it's gonna take up to a week to get the credit, so if I have to contact Amazon again after a week, it's just even more of a mess.

I hope they figure this out, but what shrike said about the 0.00 promotion being needed is worrying me.

Depending on what you get from Amazon, you could actually get a deal. I was planning on doing this:

Uncharted 2 - $55
Borderlands - $54
--------
Total = $109
+Free $40 GC

Then I could order CoD:MW2 with the GC (the gift card can be used on any game purchase right?)....

CoD:MW2 - $60 - $40 GC = $20
+Free $20GC with purchase of MW2

So you would pretty much get MW2 for Free.

Decisions... Decisions...

Thats exactly what im doing!
Thanks for explaining it LOL!

If that's the case then I'll just cancel my Modern Warfare 2 preorder, and then reorder the game after I get my promotional code.

But let me understand this: you only get the code (via e-mail?) a week after your games ship. So that leaves just a bit of time before you can still place a preorder for Modern Warfare 2. This is how it'll work, right?

:360: Skate - $19.99
:360: Mercenaries 2: World in Flames - $18.49
:360: Left 4 Dead - Game of the Year Edition - $26.99

:wii: Red Steel - $19.49
:wii: A Boy and His Blob - $35.99 (I normally don't buy new games but I really want this one)

$158.43 total ( i don't get taxed)

THAN

subtract 10% which is $15.84 for my ECA discount...

$142.59

THAN

minus my $25 gift card...

$117.59 for 7 games plus when you take into account you get a $40 gift certificate it comes out to like $77 bucks. Fucking sweet deal.

The main page of the deal says there will be no indication of the promotion at checkout. As long as the games page mentions the promotion on it it'll be fine. Amazon has the best CS of any retailer I've ever dealt with.

MW2 is still 2 weeks away so even if it takes a week to get a code, you should have a pretty safe margin to place a re-order. Some might worry whether Amazon will take down the $20 promo in that time but I think it's safe to say it'll stay up so long as Walmart offers the same promo (and in turn Walmart is unlikely to take it down so long as Amazon still has it). So yeah, you should be fine.

bought Boy & Blob and Dead Space for Wii

Managed to still have an ECA code in my account. yippie!

I wish it was DS/PSP games too, but I couldn't help it but buy that combo for just barely a buck over the requirement, plus save another 10% too. I was having doubts about going through, but saving another 10%... couldn't resist then.

I did the math on this and it's pretty much just forcing me to buy more games than I really need.

Basically I buy 2 games now for $80, then buy MW2 for $60, and then L4d2 for $60 (which is actually free using the coupons from the $40 and the mw2 coupon).

Basically it's a b3g1 when you get down to it. The only plus side is that 2 of the games don't have to be currently released.

Wow, if only they'd done this a month ago lol. However, if you combine a $60 with a $20, you end up getting each game for $20. Trade the $20 filler game in and it makes the deal even sweeter. Uncharted 2, Brutal Legend, Batman, et cetera can all be had for ~$30 if you work the deal just right.

Demon's Souls - $56.99

Grand total, after savings and before tax (damn you, NY): $129.96

Basically, for $130, I'd be getting five games (counting the two God of Wars separately). Is that a decent deal or what? I just want to make sure it'll work out that way in the end, and not get screwed over.

The items included in the deal are not all $60 games, many people have found ways to get very close to $80 in ways that would make a B2G1 deal a horrible idea for the same items. No one is saying this is better than a B2G1, but this is a viable alternative as a best case savings from this deal and a B2G1 are roughly equivalent. I'm not sure you can just subtract the $40 since its a code and not actually cash back.

If you would like to purchase another $56 dollar game you would have to pony up another $16 and use the $40 code. So in this case It would cost you the original $108 you mentioned above PLUS another $16 for a total of $124 for three games. $124/3= $41.33

It's actually a really good idea, if you're paying for a $60 new game and ~$20 game you've been holding out on for a while now. Going the middle ground...

$60 + $40 = $100, with the $20 game free. (B2G1)

$60 + $20 = $80, with the $40 credit free. ($80 for $40)

So if you'd be planning on spending in increments of 60, 40, 20, DEFINITELY go with Amazon. If you're planning on spending $60 on ALL the games, though, B2G1 may be a better idea.

Ok so heres what I want to do with this Amazon deal:

Buy Uncharted 2 and MGS4 for about $95,
Then I would sell UC 2 for about $50 on ebay,
Using the $40 credit, I'd get Modern Warfare 2 for about $25,
Afterward, I'd sell MW 2 for about $50 on ebay,
Then I'll use that $20 (from MW 2' deal) credit for a future game.

Basically, I would be getting 2 games for about $10 each when I use that $20 credit for another (probably Chrono Trigger (DS)) game. Pretty good deal.

Yes, I was planning on getting Uncharted 2, Ratchet, and a third PS3 game from Best Buy for $119.98 total or $39.99 per game.

Now I think I'd rather get Uncharted 2 and Ratchet from Amazon for $111.48 - $40 = $71.48, or $35.74 per game.

Yeah I kinda agree.

If I get Demon's Souls and Borderlands right now, it's about $114. I get a $40 credit to use later on let's say a $56 game. So I'm still paying a total of about $130 or $43 each.

Short answer Grinchy, No.

Long answer: No, because Modern Warfare 2 is not on the list of games eligible for the $40 promo. The only reason people bring up MW2 is because that's the game they'll probably USE the $40 on.

I also like how nobody has bothered to ask CS whether or not the promo is still active if your total dips below $80 dollars due to previous discounts you acquire (i.e. $10 from preorders like ODST or the ECA codes)

Thank you!

Had probably the worst shift I've ever worked tonight and was having trouble focusing on the details.

Yeah, it does. Getting a $40 Amazon credit now or 7 days from now makes no difference.

When calculating savings, it makes a significant difference.

Let's say someone is buying Uncharted 2 and Borderlands to take part of this deal. If I remember right, they are $53.99 and $54.99, so $108.98 total. If you guys add the future savings to this purchase, that ends up being $68.98, so $34.49 for each game.

But in order to get the savings, you need to buy another game. Let's say you wanted to purchase another $53.99 game, so that would add $13.99 to the previous total. That's $122.97 for the three games, which is $40.99 per game.

You're actually getting each game for $40.99, not $34.49.

Dead Space 19.99 + Demon's Souls 56.99 = 76.98 < $80....FML

Amazon has always worked off of what your initial total is. Which is why when you buy something that costs more than 25 bucks but then use coupons to get it down to less than 25 you still get super saver shipping.

or you can look it at as getting the first 2 games for $34.49 and then the third game later on for $54. that's the way i look at these giftcard/vg promos amazon gives. i consider them as money off the current game and then i don't consider it as money off whatever i spend it on. but thats just me since i have no problem in finding games to buy before these codes expire.

lol WAT. Redo your math.

You're right. I guess I'm too tired to think straight.

Actually this is pretty much the same as a B2G1. I bought both games for $110+around $53-56 (if they do the usual discount on important new release) for PES2010 when it comes out on Nov. 3rd. Grand total $163-166 less $40. It's $123-126, divided by three. It's around $41-42 each. Pretty much the same as a B2G1 on $60 games.

Yeah this really is basically a re-worded B2G1 deal if you are buying new games.

But one definite upside for me is that there are 2 games in the list that I really do want, and then I can wait until the end of the year to decide what the 3rd will be. Kinda nice. Think I'll bite.

Why do you guys subtract future money from your current purchases when calculating savings? It makes absolutely no sense.

To trick themselves into thinking they got a better deal than they really did. I love it when I see post like...

" I got UC2 for only $15!:bouncy:.....

after trading in 4 games for $45 store credit"

Watch out some games are listed as being eligible but are being sold by another party and fulfilled by Amazon. These will not qualify per terms. Example FIFA Street 3It's being sold by amazon though for the 360.

No it was being sold by a third party (BIG GAME VENDOR) and fulfilled by Amazon so it may me YMMV as to if it qualifies for the promo.

Nah, if you're buying new games, B2G1 is better cause you're getting the game for free rather than $40 off. This sale is really only worth it if you can get near the $80 mark.

I bought 3 copies of midnight club LA complete edition for 27.99 for a total of 83.97. I then turned around and submitted them for 22.00 credit trade in to amazon. In the end I get a free 22.03 gift card to amazon

83.97 -66.00 (3 copies times 22 a piece) = 17.97

40 gift card-17.97 = 22.03

I have no idea why you think this was a deal. You basically spent $83.97 CASH for a $22.03 credit of video games ??????

Not smart at all. Now if Amazon actually gave you CASH back instead of video game money that would be different as I would spend 83.97 CASH get back 66.00 CASH for $40.00 credit meaning I only spent $17.97 CASH for $40.00 CREDIT for a profit of $22.03

Thank you :applause:

Well, I just got an email back from customer service from the questions about the "0.00" promotional credit and all that jazz.

The reply I got was:

"As indicated in the online description of the Borderlands and Demon's Souls offer, we will send your promotional certificate via e-mail (7) business days after the order ships."

Then he said if there's any problem, to just contact them and it should all get cleared up.

I have screen caps, but otherwise it seems like it's all gonna work out.

So, for just slightly over $100 bucks, I'm gonna be scoring Borderlands, Demon's Souls, and Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time

Well if I do my math (me doing math is scary) it looks like this deal will result in $43 per game. At Best Buy, it's just about $43 per game as well with the B2G1.

The only difference is that at Best Buy I have to buy 3 games that are already out and with Amazon my 3rd game can be something that isn't out yet. My head hurts.

Same here. I was not sure what to buy as a third game in the BB's B2G1. For ex. I already bought Tekken 6 and GF is sending me Forza 3. So this has been a lifesaver. It allows me to buy a future release for cheap.
