That'd be sweet! I have several GBA games I've wanted to get but have put it off because I didn't want to pay their full asking price for them.

Now I have something to use my remainding trade in credit on and actually get something off with my EDGE discount.... Now, if only I could get lucky and find a Gamestop that has some Gamecube games with no stickers on the artwork and a GBA SP in good shape, I would be one happy camper :D

I never thought I would actually say I'm glad a sale is for used games only, but now that I've started buying GBA games, Gamestop has been a decent place to find some. For my new games, Gamestop is higher than I can find the games elsewhere, about 90% of the time.

Keep in mind that B2G1 at Gamestop isn't always a nationwide deal. A lot of times districts will do it amongst there stores, when I worked there we had a few stores running B2G1 free every weekend for a month while none of the other stores in the district ran it at all that month.

I no longer work there, but Gamestop is a very predictable company that typically hires the worst managers they could for there stores, which is usually due to a complete moron being tasked with being the DM. Anyway expect a B2G1 free on used games the weekend after Thanksgiving as part of the usual GS Black Friday sale. Also expect another one right before and after Christmas.

I've seen Borderlands used a few times down here in Maryland.
I have also. I think here's what's happening (because it happened to me):

With Borderlands, the game pre-order bonus card for the merc pack was packaged inside the game. The only difference between this and the "regular-no merc pack" was the little yellow circle on the front stating it was a GS exclusive.

The employees and/or manager didn't realize or didn't see it and mixed them up. It can easily be missed if you are just skimming through them to make sure you have the correct amount of copies. I was given a "regular-non merc pack" version and quickly called them out on it (even though they stated "it was inside the game"). After they opened the game on the spot and didn't see it, they called the Manager and looked through all their copies and found the pre-order (yellow circle) version. They gave me the new, sealed pre-order version and kept the "now opened" regular version.

I went back in last week and the guy I dealt with before explained to me they weren't the only ones that did this (it had happened quite a bit at various GS) and they had to put the game out as USED.

Be on the lookout for this also if L4D2 "in game baseball bat" card comes inside the packaging. You could either get ripped off (especially if you don't check for it "on the spot") or you could get lucky and score a brand new USED version the next day.

Although you might find one game, I doubt you will find all three games in one store. Unless you buy two and return them to the store with the third, and then try to rebuy them.

The biggest question for me is do I spend this ridiculous amount of GS credit on a 250gb PS3 or do I wait until BB acquires them sometime next year and hopefully can use my GS credit there? I want to go ahead and pull the trigger on it, but the GS warranty is crap (1 year which runs concurrent with Sony's) compared to BB extended warranty (2-3 years).

Some people are hoping there is one on black friday so they can pick up the november releases like the ones I mentioned above but the chances of you finding those new release games used are very low and gs has to wait 14 days before they put up a used game on shelves. You're correct. On DS or PSP games, it's a bargain. For others it's not. Most $30-$40 titles have already been reduced significantly at other locations (and online). Also, due to the "high multiplayer replay value" of recently released games, I wouldn't expect titles like Borderlands, MW2, L4D2 and others to pop up at GS once gamers have beaten the game (unless GS made an error as stated in my earlier post).

I did the same thing with Rock Band and downloaded the songs to Rock Band 2. Some other great examples are oblivion goty, and a couple of platinum hits games like mass effect and forza 2. If you're hoping to get all of the fallout 3 dlc, just wait and find a goty copy used. It'll take you a lot longer to find each dlc disk; I've only seen one dlc disk used at all of the gamestops near me. I've also done this with NCAA just to get the draft classes on madden 10.

Hence why I need an extended warranty if I purchase a new PS3 from GS. Their firmware updates seems to have different effects on different machines. Some with no problems, others (like yours) toast.

I don't even think Sony knows how this happens, but they sure are happy to take your $150 to get it fixed if it's out of warranty. Paying literally half the price of a new console to fix an old console (both Xbox & PS3) is just not smart consumerism (unless it's a 60gb PS3).

I'll be a tad surprised if BB purchases GS, although it'd make sense. I seriously doubt that GS makes worse profit margins than BB though, even if they make less overall money. I asked about trading in my MGS4 system (4 usb ports, b/c), which was not working right. They said I would get $85 after refurb fees. This was on Sunday, so the $25 bonus wasn't in effect and I don't know if it would apply anyways.

Fallout 3 GOTY is a toss-up depending on the system. A lot of people around me are trading in the 360 version.

Thanks too for me, daminion. I was wondering how good Gamestop was doing. It sounds like they are beating up on Gamecrazy (owned by Video Gallery/Hollywood Video?). I was a little hesitant to trade in six games for a $100 credit to my card this week before looking up Gamestop's financials. This was very helpful (it showed me that Gamestop is indeed quite viable and profitable -- which is a very good thing in this economy).

That won't happen. Their online inventory is from games sent to be refurbished and PS3 games don't need to be refurbished often.

With the other sales that have happened recently, I'm tapped out, and I bet many many CAGs will be as well. B2G1 on new games at BB, Amazon, TRU? Incredible sales. This will be a memorable year. And a tough precident to escape.

It's hard for me to consider running around to 5 Gamestops to look for the errant new release I can use only to struggle to find 2 other games of similar price and desirability. I think the emps take the first used copies of the new releases anyway. Or is there a waiting period? Doubt it.

Am I the only who thinks you can't return used/open games to gamestop? What would keep people from playing a game for 2 weeks and then returning it?

I have friends that do it to the local GS all the time and they're cool with it. They just ask, "Was it not a good game?" and they, of course say, "Yeah." and then they trade it out with something else. It's cool, they liken it to a rental service.

You have 7 days with used games to exchange them even if you just dont like the game. Depending on how cool the guys at your local GS are, they may let you exchange a few times in a row.

When I said "they" I actually meant the GS employees. They refer to it as a free rental system. It's odd.

I was at Gamestop today, but they didn't really have any promotions going in that store. Nothing on original Xbox games and no specials on used games, so I'm not sure if they just weren't offering anything, or if the other stores in my area were the same, but that was what I found today.

A good friend of mine who's a GS GM told me yesterday that they're running their b2g1 next week. She didn't say if it was for the week or just the weekend, but it's up next in this wonderful string of b2g1.

edit: for the inevitible is it on new or used games question; GS's b2g1 is ALWAYS used only.

most gamestop deals begin on thursday and run through the following thursday. So any sale should begin thursday and run at least the weekend.

You have to keep in mind that it doesnt start until Thursday nights, like an hour before the store closes, because the employees begin to set up the signage when it becomes live in the system. So it won't be live during the day if it does start on Thursday (which is has always in all the previous B2G1), but itll start at night.

What glitch are you talking about? I have never heard of a glitch that has happened with any of these B2G1 in a very long time. If you are talking about the sale starting on Thursdays, thats not a glitch, that is when it goes live in the system on Thursday nights so the employees can start setting up signage before they close, so thats not exactly a glitch. I do B2G1 all the time, and always in these threads, never heard of these "glitches" you are referring to.

Always on used only. I believe the op actually put that into the first post already too. But GS B2G1 are always used only, and the lowest one of the three games is always the one that becomes the free one.

He's talking about a glitch in BB's register system that would ring up the middle game as the free game no matter the cost of the other games. People were putting a $60 game in between 2 $10 games and getting the $60 game for free.

He could also mean the placeholder strategy of getting a game now only to return it sealed in a couple of weeks for a game they wanted in Nov.
