I have been reading how some people have been successful at price negotiating with Retail stores (Best Buy) on big ticket items (like tvs and receivers). Just wondering if anyone here has been successful in getting stuff cheaper than advertised? Maybe agreeing to get the extended warranty and buying the cables to get 10-15% off the price.

I've bought open box TVs and a washer and dryer set for much more than the 10% off that they offer you. Never even tried for anything brand new / unopened.

I've worked at Best Buy and Circuit City, and people successfully haggle every day. TV's have more margin than any other big ticket item, so if you're picking up a lot of accessories, especially a warranty, you can usually get them to mark down the price.
