View Full Version : Possible Amazon Lightining deal on Ghostbusters game (again)

The 2 p.m. PST Lightning Deal on Amazon today has the following clue:
"You're gonna endanger us, you're gonna endanger our client - the nice lady, who paid us in advance, before she became a dog..."
That's a quote from Ghostbusters. About a month ago, they had another quote from the movie as a clue and, as I recall, the deal ended up being for the 360 version of the Ghostbusters Game Slimer Edition for $49.99. That edition has been a deal a lot, and I'm guessing they'll be making a push to trim down their stock again today. Maybe PS3 this time? Keep an eye on it if you're interested.

Come on PS3 version for $29.99 or less! I already passed the game but loved it on 360. Would pick up a PS3 copy if cheap.

Well, the PS3 Slimer Edition was the DotD just a couple days back, so hopefully, if it's the lightning deal, they slash the price even more. I've sold my copy of Ghostbusters and didn't really finish it but for a good price, I'm in again.

If it's the slimer edition it needs to be under $30. If it's the regular edition, under $20.

Once again, I'm hoping it is for the regular edition for 360 or Wii, but I'm sure it will be the slimer edition yet again. When will the finally unload all of them? What's it going to take?

What I'd personally like even better is PS3/Blu-Ray movies bundle. Very possible this deal is just for the first movie on Blu-Ray since the quote is from that. We'll have to see at 5 pm ET I guess.
Seems like a more fitting game clue would be "Who You Gonna Call?" although it could just as easily be for anything.

Yes, those are the sweet spots, i hope so, because it's a fairly old game and only popular because of the original movie (i don't think the sequel did well).

I think the Slimer edition was exclusive to Amazon so they probably have a helluva lot of them.

Also thinking it's for the bluray or regular dvd. If it were the video game, I think it would be in the video games deal section, not on the regular gold box.

It might well be the DVD or BluRay this time. However, on 09/18/2009 (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?p=6304072#post6304072) there was a similar deal in the regular Gold Box and not in the video game section:
I noticed that the hint for today's Lightning Deal on Amazon for 6:00 p.m. PDT is, "Ray, when someone asks you if you're a god, you say 'YES'!". You'll of course recognize that quote as coming from the Ghostbusters movie. This could mean that the deal will be for the Ghostbusters game. Of course it could also a deal for the movie or a lunchbox or sheets or something else with the GB logo. Just giving everyone the head's up in case it is for the game.

I assume that most people interested have checked it out by now. The deal is for the Special "Slimer" Edition at $49.99. Glad I was right, sad it wasn't cheaper.
Will lightning strike twice? We'll see this afternoon.

I think it might be the movies on DVD or BluRay. I am hoping it's the PS3 game, but I would be in class and miss the deal. :[

Oh the game definitely is fun.
But it's just the fact that they aren't selling at this price point (despite Amazon continually putting this as a gold box item) leaves everyone to think that the price will go lower.

I'm just waiting for these to be put in the blackfriday sale at amazon, because people are idiots and will by it thinking...omg its a special deal only today...
I picked this up last time it was on sale, I accidently had two cancelled pre-orders with ECA and the new code took 10.00 dollars off, bringing it down to 23.99 altogether. I traded in my regular version(my free from the gamestop b2g1 summer sale) for 27.00, and kept the new one. All in all Amazon paid me 3 dollars....

I bit on this while using my phone at school. I thought $45 wasn't a bad price on it, but when I checked out I saw that I had an ECA discount applied to it. However, I used my last ECA code, which I got back from canceling GOW Collections, for my preorder of MW2. So I got it for $37.98!

It'd likely sell more if it have split screen multiplayer.
I forget how much this was when I bought it a month ago but back then the lightning deal only lasted about 20 minutes and sold out. I had to buy it via my iPhone while at dinner, which was somewhat difficult. By the time I got it completely checked out it was OOS.
Yeah, OK, just found the details. It was $89.99 - $40 for the lightning deal making it $49.99. And it sold out nearly instantly. You guys think $45 is a bad price for this now? I dunno what's changed since then but I can see why Amazon wouldn't go much lower with how quickly this sold back then (it was Sept. 24th).
I had a double ECA stack on there as well since I cancelled a preorder to pay for it. So my cost was only $32. Now, sure, without the ECA I probably wouldn't have paid the recent $45 price either so maybe that is all that made the difference? (No ECA any more that is...)
Edit: besides, I don't even see what you guys are talking about. It seems to me the recently expired lightning deal was the Wii version for $38, which is not a bad price at all, if you want the Wii version that is ;).
Edit #2: OK, I see someone bumped this for no reason before me so I thought you guys were talking about today's deal. PS3 was yesterday for $45, Wii was today for $38. I'll move this to the deal graveyard then.
