I used to be heavy into Magic and now I'm getting married and well they are just collecting dust so its off to ebay with them. Since I'll be selling on ebay I'll probably need delivery confirmation so as I don't get screwed. Anyone have any previous experience with this?

What are you asking for exactly? How to physically ship the cards or what your delivery options are?

I've never had any experience shipping cards before. The most cost effective way I can imagine would be just sticking the card in a top loader and putting it in an envelope but then there's no way of having delivery confirmation. I'm not really sure what I'm asking, I guess just advice if anyone has any experience selling these cards online. Has anyone been burned shipping the way I mentioned?

Yeah, toploaders would be best for singles and then there are those small plastic cases for stacks of cards. If you really want delivery confirmation, you can always just get a $1 bubble mailer and you can slap delivery confirmation on that one.
I bought a football card from someone on Ebay a while back, who sent it in a box full of styrofoam. But the stupid thing was he didn't put the card in anything, so it was just floating around unprotected amid styrofoam and all the shaking during delivery. But the card actually went unharmed.

Why couldn't you just stick the card in an envelope and get delivery confirmation? I'm not seeing the problem here. :-?
If these things are collectible, I'd be wary of putting them in a straight envelope. Too many times, those things get crushed/bent during shipping. Unless you aren't worried about your feedback, I'd avoid that route. (Of course, delivery confirmation can be had on envelopes, so you wouldn't have to worry there.)
I don't really know what a 'toploader' is. Not really into cards. If you are sending a bunch out, I'd say a box within a box? Small box to keep the cards secure, with an outer box for shipping.
Single cards...hmm. An envelope would probably work fine with one of those plastic covers over it.

I'm assuming a 'toploader' is the hard plastic case where you slide the card in the top of it. Plenty strong enough to just stick in an envelope. You'd have to be really trying to break one of those. I say just stick the card and toploader in an envelope, add DC and ship.

awesome, thanks everyone for all the feedback. A toploader is just one of those hard plastic cases.
So what actual shipping option is it sent if it's just in an envelope? Still First class?
There seems to be a trend recently with posts asking how to ship _____.
Most the time, you take your item and a box and you go to the post office. You give them the address and they say "How fast do you want it there?" and if your auction said ground, then you say "Whats the cheapest?"
Get delivery conformation, and you are good. Rinse and repeat.

Regular envelopes go through some sort of machine at the post office that stamps the zip code barcode at the bottom, and sometimes that process can be detrimental to what you have inside.
