Need some suggestions regarding RROD

Hey guys (first post!)

My xbox (which has been refurbished multiple times from Xbox for non-RROD issues) just gave me the three lights. My warranty ran out recently (of course) but I'm thinking I might just buy a new one of the "Jasper" version because they are supposedly better and won't let this happen - right? Or should I just get the warranty and repair it?

Anyone know of any good deals for the basic model? Is the wal-mart deal still alive or dead?

RLOD is covered for three years, so despite the hassle it's probably worth using the warranty system until it's exhausted.

Thanks for your advice - I forgot to mention I was planning on buying a new controller anyway and was looking to get a HDMI xbox so I thought this was a good opportunity.

You make a great point with the 3 years, its just terrible this happened 2 days before MW2. Still debating on what to do.
