At this rate, we probably expect a $35-$30 sale soon. I believe World at War was at $35 at Best Buy within a month

Thanks OP! Great news for some that missed this (or wanted to PM).

Unless another shipment came in this week, I find it hard to believe they will even have enough copies to support another $20 GC sale on this (my TRU was cleaned out by 1:00pm on release day and haven't had any as of 3:00pm today). I would call ahead of time.

thanks, OP. I was planning to get the game this weekend and this just made it so much better.

Could you provide a link though? and is the deal online too or just in stores?

Does GC mean gift card or game credit? what does "7-1 RZ" mean?

Here is the online version of the email - works for me - dunno if it is account specific or not - let me know and I'll adjust accordingly.

Sorry for the vagueness - was on my phone. I imagine Hardened and Prestige dont count simply because they dont carry them in store (correct me if I'm wrong). Deal is in store only..

Also there is that Wii deal for "100.00" - yeah right...but maybe worth checking out if your interested...

The Wii deal is still $250, but $120 worth of crap and Mario & Sonic at the Olympics (SUMMER) which is great but not worth more than 30 two years later.

If I buy 2 games, can I just use the $30 gift card for the purchase, to make it $90?

Don't forgot that in that email (I just got it too) that Bionic Commando is $24.99 and $34.99 for Resident Evil 5. Also, some other games were 50% off. Wii Music, Shaun White's Snowboarding, Star Wars TFU, and Street Fighter 4.

I'm going to take the ad to Best Buy and see if they will price match Bionic Commando and let me use the Reward Zone coupon for $20 off.

Can't. TRU's GCs requires 6 hours after purchase before they're activated.

No. I went to Toys R Us on release date and tried to get the Hardened. Clerk said, yes, it's part of the deal. Rang it up, no gift card, checked with another associate and said, I guess it's not.

Wow nice find Raarar (and of course the OP)! $4.99 for BC is well worth an attempt. I think I'll also try on Saturday.

Yeah I remember MW1 for $40 a few weeks after launch, but that was when Circuit City was around too.

Saturday trip to TRU it is! Thanks.

BTW, thought this was at BB because of the "RewardZone" title, but then realized it's at TRU, which is called rewardsRus. Must have spent 10 mins on Best Buy's site & searching through e-mails. I really should read more carefully!

Can't. TRU's GCs requires 6 hours after purchase before they're activated.

Not. Bought two items recently with free GCards, immediately activated and used within a minute of activation...

When you purchase 3 CODMW2's, do you get a $45, $20, $20 GC's? or will they only give you one $45 GC?

Is Brutal Legend only the PS3 version or can you buy any of the listed games for either system (if available)? The email only shows the PS3 version. Also are they still offering a $10 gift card for one of the listed games, purchased without MW2? It doesn't show that, so I presume not, but I want to be sure.

I might pick up MW2 via this deal, but then again it's a better deal at Amazon without tax and I have Prime. The only thing is I wouldn't get it until Monday even with Prime.

Those of you thinking of getting GTA Episodes, note that Gamestop and Amazon's price for that disc is $33.99, while TRU charges full price, $39.99 with $10 gift card. Amazon is a better deal without a gift card if you don't pay taxes there and at least at Gamestop you are paying less up front.

I guess I got lied to then. :( I tried to use the GC that I got from buying Scribblenauts towards the purchase of the 2nd copy and was denied. Cashier said that I had to wait 6 hours before they would activate.

well they just gave me a normal gc this time but you couldn't use it on the actual purchase EARNING you the gc anyway. That'd make no sense at all and I can't believe the amount of people that ask if this can be done. Use your brains.

Donut is right-- TRU gift cards can be used immediately. I bought 4 copies of MW2 at TRU this past Tuesday and I used the $20 GC from each one on the sale just following it. I figured the sale was 1 per person so I brought 3 friends with me. (That may not be the case as it was not listed that way, but I figured better safe than sorry.) We also used the same rewards program card with no problem. (Get a free "Rewards R Us" account/card online at TRU's website. you can print a temporary card there which can be used instore.) Also, you cannot use the GC on the purchase you are receiving it from. The main reason for this is when they ring up the promo, you are paying 39.99 for MW2 and 20.00 for the Giftcard. Because of that, you have not yet bought the card to be able to use it! There may be ways for CSRs to manually circumvent that, but that's how the system works automatically. I have enjoyed selling these MW2s on Craigslist for $55, which gives other people a good deal, and I am still making money..

And remember, the promo for additional games might not fit as your best option:
Assuming you are buying 2 $60 titles,
If you buy MW2 + 1. you pay $120 +tax and have $30GC.
If you buy MW2 you pay $60 and have $20GC you can use on GAME2, paying $40 and having $10GC left over. (this way you only pay $100 cash + tax and get same bargain)

crunchewy
11-13-2009, 04:49 PM
It's not clear to me that the promo for the other games is still there. I mean, if you buy those games alone, are they still giving out a $10 gift card, or are they only giving out gift cards for MW2 with or without additional games?

This times a thousand.
Even though I have the dreaded "DEVIL" Best Buy stores here in the Orlando area who refuse to price match giftcards, I will try tomorrow to fight with them (I have their price match guarantee already printed) to get my CoD :MW for 40 plus $10 GC.
My plan is to then then use that GC toward the $30 13 month XBL pack!

in the other thread, there's a picture of a receipt price matched and the gift card. Maybe he got lucky though.

But if i do get the $10 gift card from best buy, is it possible to return it right then and there then rebuy it and use the gift card?

I wonder if BB would match this deal so I can get a $20 gift card from them vs the $10 deal they got going now?

I am wondering this too

The main complaint my BB gave me last time was no that they don't price match, but the fact that the deal time for the 20 GC passed (on the Ad it mentioned Tuesday, from 10AM to 2), so I was curious on how it would work today with full justification

But there are many factors that would have my BB refuse such as the "ad" for the rewards zone is printed out, and again, that they won't price match gift cards.

I'm not sure if its worth the effort to go out and try to PM anymore. I just received my $20 VG credit from amazon, and it should come by Tuesday.

Oh yes, COD3 and COD4 for a total of $30 in launch day was bliss...

Hopefully when I come back to the States next May MW2, ACII and a couple of other games will be cheaper.

Stupid question, but how do you go about price matching? I've never done it. Is it as simple as taking the proof of the competitor's discount to the register with you and telling the cashier that you want to price match it?

Just got back from BB (got there when they opened)..... got it for $39.99 after the TRU pricematch and took my RZ coupon just in case they wouldnt do a pricematch and glad i did....best part of all he seen the coupon in with my tru printout stuff and said "let me try the RZ coupon to and see if it will let me do the giftcard also for ya" ...and bam added the $10 coupon as well without having to ask.....was cool manager, even wrote down his gamertag for me to add him on Live

so in all really in the end it just cost me $29.99 for MW2 cause $10 BB gc is almost like cash during the holidays

That's exactly it. If the cashier won't do it, raise a stink and get a manager. You'll get it.

I asked one of the salesman if they could PM. He looked up the TRU ad on one of the computers, then asked the manager for approval. The ad says Tuesday only, but if you mouse over it, it says it is valid from 11/10 to 11/14. See my post in http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/images/misc/home/tags.gif http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/images/misc/subscribed.gif Every Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Deal! Best Buy in Orange, CA refused to honor the TRU $20 GC. I got the store manager over there, and showed him my printout of their own policies. He agreed that the policy said they would price match "promotional prices" and that the TRU price was a promotional price, but he refused to honor it. "I don't care what it says, I won't do it. Go somewhere else." So I did.

The Tustin store did it with no problem once I showed them their own policies. No $10 off for RZ though, and their own price match policies do say that they won't honor any bonuses with a pricematch, so ok. I'm still very happy. Also, the Live for $30 went through flawlessly.

Wow, look at that difference in experience. Wonder who is the more loyal Best Buy customer now, and if that loyalty is worth more than the cost of a $20 gift card. Ya think?

Sometimes it helps to do these on two different transactions: first price match, then make a second visit to customer service at a different time or place with receipt and BB coupon in hand.
