NBA 2K10 - CAG League S1 "Reboot"

Welcome to our 2k10 restart. Since the 2k10 online servers are crap, I have decided to use their 2ksite as a placeholder but want to track stats properly. The league will consist of 8 teams split into 2 groups/divisions (based on OVR) for season 1, playing 15 total games. The 4 teams with the best records will make the playoffs and play best-of-3 series.

In this league you will be expected to report the score of your game (win or lose) along with the following that you also will need to include info for your top 3 players in each category as well as your team totals in each of the following: Points, Rebounds, Steals, Blocks and Assists. I will compile, create and post this data via spreadsheet or database.

To play your games instead of using the league lobby (which has issues) you will play a "custom game" with your opponent using regulation NBA rules, "Superstar" difficulty and default sliders along with injuries being set to on with 6 minute quarters.

We are using a flex-schedule which means you can play your games in any order. Everyone is expected to play a minimum of 2 games per week. Please do not join if you cannot make that commitment.

gg. don't really know what to say about this one. wasn't really that fun watching Wade run layup drills while I had to bust ass for points. I think this is why I remember not enjoying a Superstar mode league last year. Just becomes a 1v1 between the two teams superstars, mostly dunks. Too bad I didn't have one in this game.

gg. wow probably one of the worst showings for me in a while. not sure what happened but my head was just not in the game. terrible shots, awful plays called. it was pretty close throughout, but it was never going in my direction.

I'm sorry Seen I didn't know it didn't report the stats. I was not trying to screw you, I was mad at myself and I didn't want to break my console after throwing my controller because I was so pissed at myself and the AI for having Okafor beyond the arc and Posey down low on the last play. I'm just now getting calm enough to be able to type without trying to break something.

I spent the last five minutes yelling and screaming at myself and I had to calm down before I broke something. I tend to get violent with small objects when I lose my cool (broke a controller in the UFC league) so I didn't want to do that again.

Excellent debut for the rookie Toney Douglas in his first start of the season. 10 points and 12 assists, along with some stellar defense on Deron Williams, holding him to just 11 points on 4 for 15 shooting. All for naught though as after leading convincingly throughout the game, the Knicks broke down and go outscored (somehow) by 17 points (!!!1) in the 4th quarter. The rest is history. Not sure how the team or the management will recover from this one, completely deflating loss.

Once again I cannot close a game out as I was up 7 going into the 4th and lose by 2. Great job by Weavshow, especially with Williams, to get the W. Hornets fall to 0-2. Weavshow I guess turned up his offensive momentum and I was unable to counter, leading to him scoring 26 in the final quarter. Team stats were pretty even. My 4 missed free throws ended up being huge.

I'm getting really sick of myself choking against human competition and wonder if it's me or rubber band AI. In the first attempt at the league when I played Immortal Fwd, he was up by 20 in the 4th and I was able to cut it down to 10 in the last two minutes.

It seems like online the AI wants to go back to NBA Jam style and give the edge to whomever is losing. Does anyone else notice this or is it just me?

Also my apartment is currently a pigstey and my parents are visiting me for Thanksgiving, so if I'm going to get more than two games in, I need to schedule them in advance because my online activity is going to be sporatic as I will be busy cleaning. I would prefer PM's on CAG for the next week as I'll be on it more than Live.

Another game where I fell behind early. My third-quarter was atrocious, and I couldn't do anything on D. I ended up cutting it to 5 or so towards the end of the fourth, but that was all I had. Good game.

Another start for Douglas, but he didn't make it past the 1st quarter and never came back into the game. Harrington was just on fire, especially from 3. Once again my 4th quarter AI hypothesis gets closer to being proven. Immortal was up 8 going into the 4th, then I outscored him 23-8 in the 4th, with Peja hitting 3 back-breaking 3's in the Q when he couldn't hit a shot outside of the paint earlier in the game. Meanwhile Immortal's 3's wouldn't fall for him in the quarter.

West was in foul trouble in the first half, so the only offense I could muster was Paul on drives to the hoop. Then he got a few FT's at the end.

seems like my 3 point shooting only clicks when I play the Pistons. Knicks lit it up from deep, especially Harrington. Milicic was a beast on those 2nd chance points, which was pretty much the only inside game I had. Just noticed he was 4 blocks away from a triple double.

It was a sad game for the Lakers, (trying for a new team mascot possibly a brick-layer) as shots didn't fall the entire game. What burst the game open with no possible return was getting R@PED on the boards 30-14, unable to secure the rock hurt any chances of a comeback in the 2nd half.

Sadly 2k still are having new server issues, we tried to run the game back only to have 2k insist on matching up the Utah Kings, and the LA Magic.

So why does it make sense to have an offensive stat separated by two defensive stats? And why is it such a big deal?

I'm doing the data entry of the numbers and have a system which everyone else follows. I really don't see what your issue is with following the format I have already provided.

It's just that I've never seen any format that has assists separated from pts and rebounds, and I covered high school and Division I basketball during college since my degree was in print journalism with an emphasis on sports.

I just thought it would be better and make more sense the other way, but I will do as you say because you are the leader.

Interesting, as I recall I'm not forcing anyone to be in this league. I am doing my best to record the stats; I hear you may have prior experience in journalism but I don't think that really applies to this.

2k messed up the servers so I tried to offer a way for us to play and feel like there was purpose to the games (no the format isn't perfect but it was what I came up with at the time). If there is no appreciation for what I'm doing then why should I even spend my time doing this league?

my frustration threshold was destroyed in about 2 minutes. hooray for standing under the basket and dunking the ball! seriously, the Hornets didn't make 1 single shot outside of the lower half of the box (looking at it now). Looking at it I don't think more than 5 shots are not directly below the basket. congrats, you can dunk!

Big 2nd quarter got me a comfortable lead, barely held on after a furious 3rd quarter run by ubernes, then was able to get a decent lead in the 4th for the win.

But I have to say this was my worst experience with the league. If I'm on double-secret probation (as I should be) then I propose ubernes be on it as well. When he got frustrated in the 2nd quarter, he started intentionally fouling me as I got to half court. He also did this with 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter. All in all he committed 14 fouls against me, 10-12 of those being intentional, and only 3 of those intentional fouls being in the final minute.

Any time a call doesn't go his way he pauses and unpauses the game rapidly. And finally, with 6 seconds left after an intentional foul and me being up 5, he paused the game, went to quit, hit A, then hit B when the prompt came up and unpaused the game. After the game he did not send any type of message saying gg or whatever.

It was not a communication thing either as I have my system set to play speech through my TV speakers if my headset is not plugged in so he made no attempt to communicate to me. The only person in the league who has attempted to talk during a game in seen, and something was causing feedback on his end so bad I had to unplug my mike.

Any idea what we are to do with the various issues? I had not gotten to play Franky, cOrnpwn, or Xxxplosive yet so that's 6 of my games in limbo, and I'm sure it's the same for others. Last year when someone quit (forgot who) we set it up as that person just getting auto losses. What would you want to do seen? I am ready to play my remaining games with whomever is left.

Edit: Ubernes, I had maybe 3-5 dunks the whole game. It's called post moves. I'm rather good with them, especially with West. That could be why he was featured in the trailer before the game came out that featured the best post players in the NBA.

I missed almost all of my outside shots and Paul was like 1-for7 from the field so what should I do? Just keep bricking 3's and let you win the game because you don't like playing basketball in the post?

Edit 2: I just went into Gametrack; I had 6 dunks total. 4 were by Posey/Wright on drives to the basket, 2 were Okafor under the basket after he got a pass inside. I did have 21 layups (which are both post moves and fingerrolls from drives to the hoop.) Ubernes would pressure my guys on the perimeter, then I would have open lanes to the hoop. If those closed down, I threw the ball into West. I don't see what I did wrong.

Edit 3: I had 1 3ptr and a few free throws, then 1 basket outside the paint. I have pics on my IPhone if I must place them in my defense.

I should probably just stop playing. This game obviously isn't for me. I do admit you had some sweet post moves but there was also a lot of just walking around until you could lay it up. I just play a different game that involves ball movement and shots not one foot from the rim is all.

Yea you've always been easy to setup a match with. RROD isn't your fault, my post was in general, I know you're committed. Same with the guy with the broken wrist, life happens. But flat out quitting really sucks.
