The original. What did you think? (I'm considering picking it up for cheap)

I thought it was terrible. I bought it for $5 used at Hastings, and promptly sold it back. Bad controls, worse graphics, and terrible gameplay. I enjoyed Enter the Matrix much, much more. And I say that because they are sort of in the same genre.
What do you exactly mean by ass? Yes, alot of ass was shown in this game, but is that really all you are looking for in this game?

I got it for $5 or $10 at CC (I forgot how much exactly) and it was worth it. The game is a pretty good third person beat em up. The first part of the game is pretty boring but when you get to Germany and encounter Nazi soldiers, thats when the real fun begins.

I got it for free and I still felt ripped off because of the hour of my life that was wasted with that piece of trash.

I bought this game used for my husband when I first got my GC. I figured vampire chick with big hooters on the cover, this should keep him entertained long enough for me to play the Xbox undisturbed. He spent a few hours swearing his way through the first couple levels (mostly at a giant spider boss, I could hear him from the other room), but was hooked once there was Nazi killing involved. While this game is nowhere near perfect, its hard to beat good clean Nazi killing fun for $10.

I thought this game was overhyped to new stratospheres.
I was insanely dissapointed with how bad the game turned out to be- especially the craptacular animation and broken controls.
I DO NOT KNOW how some magazines gave it some of the scores they did...

I think the hype is what helped the scores. Its not good. I got a week or two ago from EB for 4.99. I played it a night and traded it in at BB Gamerush. If you are planning on getting it for $5 or less, try it, you wont be out much. Any more than that, dont bother. If you have a Gamerush nearby you can get more than you paid out of it depending on the deal you do.

the secret to enjoying the game= Codes. This is one of the few game where God mode and Unlim. ammo make it 100x better. I must say though, the sequel seems to be much better made, i like the demo quite a bit.

I picked it up for $4.99 at ebgames.com and started playing it w/ God mode on. For some reason running around harpooning everybody and sucking their blood never gets old. Their are other nice things to it, for example her vampire sense which allows her to see her goal is a nice touch. It helps alot since the layout of the levels aren't too spetacular. Other things like slowing down time and rage attacks are pretty much useless though.

I thought the rage mode added in a few more ways to slice and dice...or im seeing things. For me, with God mode on, it felt like a 3-d Streets of Rage type of game. Lots of ass kicking, no good reason why. Kinda like I-Ninja, but that was made quite a bit better.

I'll have to try to play it with God Mode then when I open the package.

I'm not usually a graphics whore (I love Disgaea on PS2), but I thought the graphics on the GC version were pretty bad. I couldn't get into it and I ended up giving up on it pretty quickly.

The first series of levels in the swamps (especially since water hurts you, and the entire levels are water almost) are terrible. But once you get to the german nazi killing the game gets much better. It still isn't a great game, but I think it's worth its cheap $5 price currently. I enjoyed the second half of it.

They'll make anything a sequel nowadays... some turn out far better than the original(s) that were plagued with problems... for recent proof, see Sly 2... leagues better than the original, but still pretty low replay value after completion...

I thought the graphics on the PS2 were actually a little better than the XB or GC versions. I enjoyed it, but the Nazi base level seemed unnaturally long compared to the rest of the game. Beyond that, it was a pretty good first attempt at an A title from Majesco, and BR2 seems to have polished out alot of the flaws in the first game, though the controls still seem a little loose.
I bought it cheap. I played a little bit. And then I vowed to never put that game back in my console (Xbox).

I got it cheap and it was a decent game, of course it's just your run of the mill hack and slash. It's gory with mindless violence, but that's why it was enjoyable for a short while. Not bad for $5.

I got it for 5 bucks at CC a while back. I thought it was decent for the price. Had a hell of a time trying to figure out how to take down the last boss though.

Heh, quotable!
Bloodrayne suffered from Lara-ngitis. In other words the gameplay took a back seat to the character. I thought it was ok. It had some good ideas but the graphics engine was problematic at times.
The sequel is looking LIGHT-YEARS better.

The game could have been better in some respects, but is definitely worth it on the cheap.
