If you really don't like the greatest hits logo on the covers of the PS2 games, couldn't you find a non-GH version used and swap the covers, and maybe the disk too, and just return it?

The cost for building a functional time machine is too high for an average cheapass, so you're better off looking for a dimensional portal or wormhole. Or if you're really desperate, you could write in your diary about the memories of you and your gf when you were little kids. Make sure you coordinate the time of the GH with these events, or else you may change the course of history itself.

And it may help to be Ashton Kutcher in that case.

I ment you could get on a used copy from EB, and just change the covers on the case, and return it. Both versions have the same serial numbers, and barcodes.

IF EB has a non greatest hits version, why swap out anything, buy it, then sell your greatest hits version either back to them or on your own. I think you may be thinking this through way too much, and in this case, thinking is bad.

Its like keeping the TY tags on beanie babies, THEY ARE NOT AN INVESTMENT, they are a toy. A video game is a video game. I just can't possibly fathom a situation in which having a non-GH cover will ever help me. Oh, and I don't sell back videogames.....ever...

But don't take it too seriously, I mean if you want a non-gh game, I think others have offered advice and not necessarily just ranted like I might have.

If you shop around, you will find a non-GH new games, sometimes.

There is one PS2 game that you will never get rid of the GH Logo so far, Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution.

I never understood that argument. I buy games because I want to play them and think they're fun. I listen to music that I like to listen to. I wear clothes that are affordable, comfortable, and fit the situtation. If someone is looking at my games close enough to tell that they're GH, and judge me on that, they must have entirely sad lives.
Not to mention, by buying GH, which are generally no more than 20 bucks, I can get 2-2.5 games for the price of one non-GH new game. So I have more games than the other people, so who's the real gamer now?
ANYway--I agree with the time machine idea. Yes, it will cost a lot and be entirely non-cheapass at first, but you will save lots of money later on using it.
Failing that, you could try what happened in the book 'Replay' [an awesome book, by the way]. ~50 year old guy had a heart attack and woke up at age 15...with memories intact.

Also, why would anyone look down upon you for having a GH game instead of the original? Some people can't play every game in the world, so they wait until they have the time/money, and if the only available copy is a GH edition, even better, since it's cheaper. :D

Example Of an original being worth more than a GH, FF7 ebay legit auction for a sealed copy 187.00, current cost of a Sealed GH 15 dollars. I certainly wouldn't pay that much for a copy, but if i had one it would certainly be nice to sell it.

Btw why don't you just look on ebay for a mint non gh copy and the resell the old one?

i PREFER not to have GH/PC/PH covers/disks. I do have a couple though. I will go out of my way to check stores for older non-gh copies, just because, IMO, it looks better. I mean, Kingdom Hearts lokks 100 better with the extra shiney and no red marking. Basically, im a Chap-ass collector. I know when to spend my money, but i also have preferences.

Oh, and try and make friends with video rental store employees, if all you want to do switch the covers, maybe the disk(except most put that tape on them)

I did choose VF4 evo over the original because of the added features. Its the only GH/PH/GC that I own.

Quite the opposite. Being a "real gamer" is caring about the game itself, and not about what color the background of the box is. Personally, I would rather wait a few months after a games release and get it alot cheaper as a GH. If I were offered either version for the same price however, I would pick the regular version. But this isn't the way it works...

I fall into the camp of "Yeah, the GH logo ain't pretty, but it's better than nothing." In particular, I'm picky when it comes to buying games new...I hate buying used games. Besides, I see buying GH games as being smart...paying less is a nice thing, y'know? Let's not forget that games like Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution and Silent Hill 2 offer more in their GH form than prior incarnations.

Now, for those that are picky about these things: I noticed at my local Best Buy that games that became GH, but didn't have the GH packaging had new shrink wrap, with a "Greatest Hits" sticker applied to the shrink wrap, only. They had at least 10 copies like this, between Medal of Honor: Frontline, Sly Cooper, and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2. So, if you're really damn intent on getting the original packaging, look for items like these.

Use acid to remove the label. You can get all the neccessary ingredients from a fish store. Go for the PH modifiers. A basic solution would also work.

Not that I have any experience in that feild, mind you...
