Do you think it will catch on and become a new hit?

For anyone that doesn't know, what everyone in the video is doing is shadowing, which is when someone plays DDR and a bunch of people not playing, follow along with the same steps but not on a DDR pad. I dislike shadowing in general but I have never seen a whole group of people shadow like this.

Well that may just be one of the most asinine things I've ever heard of... seriously. 99% of the population already just rehashes the same dance move.. now we're past even pretending we're personally inventive or creative.

Shadowing is one of the lamest, dorkiest, saddest thing that you will ever see in the arcade. Whenever I see somebody doing it, I shake my head, and pity them.

Edit: After watching the video, UGHHHHHHHHHHH

I hate DDR in general, as it is nothing more than a footsie version of Simon done on a TV with music playing. And I know I would get flammed for saying that if this were gamefaqs, but really that was really just rediculous.

Man that makes me feel extremely cool, since I wouldn't even consider doing that.

The best part was the guy in the green shirt who wasn't even following the steps correctly. That, and the "Oh my god" comment overheard.

Word of advice: Never go the DDR club at my school then. >.>

But daaaaaamn, thats a lot of people.

Konami is already moving to invoke the DMCA and get this activity outlawed, since it infringes on their intellectual property and cuts into their revenue stream.

To be honest though without the music it does look completely ridiculous since they aren't moving anything but their feet.

If that is required for class,
I would give the teacher a nice "shaq-fu" and tell them just to gimmie the "f".

That is pretty damn funny. Do these people think they are cool? I don't understand.

I am not sure how to say this without sounding like an ass, but some of those people could use the exercise, so it's not all bad. Better than sitting at home on the couch watching the tube.

they would have atleast put a hot chick in the back of the class / center of the video. but no... it was some larger lady whom shouldn't be moving that fast unless there is only one doughnut left in the food court.

Your username is also the solution to this problem.

That is the saddest thing I've seen in a good while.

That was pathetic. ](*,)

I hate when I'm waiting my turn and the friends of the people on the machine start shadowing. I have two theories on why they do this:
1) They are simply practicing w/o paying to play.

2) This comes across to me as showing off. For example, Kid A is on the machine. People start watching him, amazed at his skill. Kid B, his friend, sees the attention and thinks "well I can do that too, I'll show them". Hence, shadowing begins. This is what I most commonly observe, and can only deduce this line of thinking.

The mass shadowing is absolutely pointless and ridiculous. They all look like total idiots, regardless of "nailing" the steps correctly. If you're not on the machine, then you have no idea how well you're doing (perfects, greats, etc.) And that's part of the fun and improvement process!

I don't like DDR to begin with, and that is about the lamest thing I have seen since line dancing. At least line dancing can be attributed to inbreding.

That's all very well and true, but some people are such DDR freaks that they time their steps perfectly, allowing shadowing to be a legitimate form of practice when they're waiting on their turn. And some of them just can't stop moving their feet. I find when I see people shadowing that it's definitely more #1 then #2, they're just "trying the song on for size" to see how they'd do on the machine by timing it as accurately as they can. And, looking at the tape, some can shadow better then others. ()

You know, I've done this a few times inadvertantly when I'm watching my friends play...and it's actually a lot of fun. Especially when you're with other people and you're mocking the person playing. :D

It might look stupid, and it probably IS stupid, but come on...isn't it better than sitting on your ass and watching? :)

Yeah, I don't like it either, they've yet to make a DDR pad big enough for a horse to play.
