Time is about the only thing we have more of than people like Bill Gates. If he wanted to buy your time, how much would you sell it for?

If he had a machine to make himself live longer and shorten my life you mean? I would give him a year of my life for a million bucks. At that rate, he can afford to live forever.

Warren Buffet is nearly 80 years old. You don't think he'd give a fair amount of his money to you to switch ages? Or for every year you'd get older, he would get younger.

For instance, say you're 20. He'd give you a billion for 5 years. You'd become 25, and he would become 75.

I'm doing a scenario as if you switched ages completely or if you sold only X amount of years at a time.

Can I sell him all the really bad parts? you know like I keep the partying memories and he gets the hangover the next morning.

(I'm pretty sure you ment time we haven't lived yet, but I like it better this way)

I've been wasting it away already, so it wouldn't take much.

Still doesn't change the fact that we could die at anytime. But even it were possible I wouldn't sell years off my life unless I was really desparate for cash.

Eh, I wouldn't sell it. My childhood was the best (and will probably remain the best) time of my life. No taxes, no work, absolute freedom. Roxors.

Hmmm, 1 billion. I could make a lot of new memories with 1 billion.

Life now is better anyway- being out of school is the best. Owning own house, cars, etc. It's way the hell better than depending on others (I.E. parents, etc)

Well put it like this...he does get your youth with his money. Ok maybe not him but whoever your employer is when you are 20-25, you are working you butt off everyday for no where near as much as you guys are asking for lol. Thats why most people rich are old, because they gave some things that go with youth up to secure their future. So maybe the question is..would you give up a bill gates future(minus a whole LOT of money) to make the most of your youth?

I'd sell a certain amount for the right price. At the very least a few million would it take to get any significant time from me. Significant being subjective.

Define making the most of your youth?

Getting married, but not having kids and having disposable income and saving for the future?

Being a moron and having a baby with as many women as you can (I.E. spreading your genetics) but being poor off your ass (but again, spreading your name around).

Spending it researching to become a professional to try to make a difference in the world (I.E. a Carmak, Bill Gates, Ronald McDonald Clown... er scratch that last one)

With enough money to live comfortably for the rest of my life, I'd sell off five years of my life. Then, with the money, I'd hire a personal trainer to whip my fat ass into shape and in the process add 10 years of life for a net gain of 5 years.

Interesting question from the king of "strange hypothetical situations", which is what you should change your rank to when you hit 1000 posts.

i don't think i could give up any of my life for any amount of money. its been pretty good so far. but i think if i had enough money waved in my face to be able to live comfortably for the rest of my life, then I'd probably give up no more than 5 years.

I would sell high and then buy low(how hard is it to buy 3 years from 80%+ of college freshman so they can hit the bars??), turn some profit, buy my way back down a few years before I started then find a nice way to spend all my free cash.
