Don't actually bid on this. It's obviously an account that has been taken over.

I'm sure it's a "mistake" just like the 100 Nokia 6630's, 100 Palm Tungsten C's, 100 Samsung P730's, and about 10 other high end items with 50 to 100 quantity of each that this seller also has up on Ebay.

What's wrong with this auction. It seems pretty legit with me. What did I miss? It's a private auction for 100 xbox. Yea a hundred is a bit out of the ordinary, but I do'nt see anythin' wrong with it.
It wasn't legit. It was either a scam (most likely) or a mistake, because all of the auctions have been taken down.

How exactly do they do account hijacking?
I have gotten a few emails (that appear pretty legit) asking to update account information.

I have gotten a few emails (that appear pretty legit) asking to update account information.
I hear that happening more and more with PayPal accounts, so if any email ever comes (this should be common knowledge by now) from PayPal or Ebay asking to click a link to verify anything, completely disregard it.
If you still have more questions, please go to homestarrunner.com and watch the Strong Bad email entitled "Credit Card!"
Enjoy!

How exactly do they do account hijacking?
They do it easily, because people are generally stupid. They send out an email that looks "official" saying that your account has some kind of problem. Then you have to give them your account ID, password, email address and just about every bit of info including bank accounts, Paypal accounts, etc.
Then you submit that info to someone who rips you off blind, since you gave them all your personal information.
The thing to remember is that eBay and Paypal will never, ever ask for any information from you in an email. If they need anything, it will be asked for once you log in to your account. Never log in from these emails...open a new browser and go there yourself....this can also be a part of the scam.
Another favorite one is "sign in to keep your account active". This one is also a scam.
The bottom line is that you should never give any information out for any account based on an email. Go to the website, log in, and see if any info is needed. If not, just erase the email or forward it to that websites fraud department.
My first post here...Woohoo....just be safe people, having your identity stolen will take many months and lots of money to get sorted out. Just use common sense...and a good firewall.
