NPR played a section dealing with food kitchens today- people who owned houses were going to food kitchens- I.E. not just people who were homeless.
Got me wondering- would people here mooch off of food kitchens to be able to buy the games they wanted?

If Anyone would buy games when they are in those sort of conditions.. I might very well consider it a psychosis. I enjoy video games, but there's no way in hell I'm irresponsible enough to go hungry for a few days so I can play the latest FF.

I will admit that I often spend money on frivolous applications when it should be put towards something more important, but I would never take advantage of services meant for impoverished people. It just seems wrong. I don't see how anyone could justify it.

I personally wouldn't. I just don't think it's right.

If I spent too much on games, I usually just forfeit eating out that week and cook at home.

I routinely go without eating so that I might get a few more minutes of dvd watching/gaming/posting on CAG in. I wouldn't eat at a soup kitchen, I think that would be going too far, but I can use the money saved from skipping meals to buy more games.

Same here. I never eat lunch at school anymore.

I use to do it all the time, not go to soup kitchens I mean. However I would go without food or with just ramen for like weeks just so I could get a new game. It was the only thing I had to look foward to a few years back. Now I don't know that I could stand the sight of ramen for more then 1 meal a year.
I also have a much happier life and games are not as intoxicating as they once were.

Me too. I can maybe skip lunch or something to play video games/post on CAG/ watch a movie/ go out, etc. but I never would go to a soup kitchen. That's too disrespectful and taking it to far. If I was at that point I wouldn't be so irresponsible in my v-game buying and would stop. If you don't have food than you can't play.

I can't imagine walking into a soup kitchen and getting food. I'd feel like a total asshole. Especially if it was because I bought games instead of food. Anyone who does that needs a beating.

I think I'd take the food over the games, but then maybe I could buy the game beat it quick and sell it for food.

I'm sorry man, but I just couldn't do it. Leave the food shelters for the people who really need them, not some cheap punk-ass who wants to save up for a video game.

I worked at a food kitchen once, and some college kids came and ate there. I dont think that I would though.
