I was grading some papers and one of my students put this on his paper:

Mathematical Proof that Girls are Evil

1) Girls require both time and money.

Girls = (Time) x (Money)

2) Time is money.

Time = Money

3) Substitute money for time in the first equation.

Girls = (Money) x (Money) = Money^2

4)Money is the root of all Evil.

Money = √Evil

5) Substituting √Evil for money in equation 3 leaves us with

Girls = Money^2 = (√Evil)^2

Girls = Evil

:lol: :lol: :lol:

For a few years, yet I teach university students. Doing the teaching assistantship thing so that I can afford my CAGging!

I've seen this before.. and there was another equation about guys too or something.. hehe I always see this on asian homepages. Pretty nifty, reminds me of the map of the mall and it shows the path of guys and girls to just go to a JCPENNY. So the girls have lines all over and guys just has one right to the store. But yea.. just was reminded of that.

What class/school was this? That's quite intuitive.

This was a veterinary student (a future vet). I teach them parasitology (reason for my tick fascination), but for some reason, he had written the formula out. Guess he must have had a lousy weekend!

I was grading some papers and one of my students put this on his paper:

Somehow I don't believe this. You know why? Because it's quite popular on the internet. Google "girls time money equation".

Oh, wait, let me guess.. his paper looked something like this, didn't it?

Yeah, that's been around a while..

Never seen it though. But you are right...it probably has been around for quite awhile. According to Genesis, Adam came up with the equation once he was booted out of Eden for taking a "piece of apple pie".

1) Girls require both time and money.

Girls = (Time) x (Money)

Cars require both gas and oil.

Cars = (gas) x (oil).

Makes about as much sense.

I did something along the lines of that in middle school...but it was more based around what brings boys and girls together? LOVE.....Love spelled backwards is EVOL!!!!

Tell Ross I say hi.

He said "sup", then he rambled on about how that mathematically made no sense (since he's minoring in math). Something about intial conditions or some crap like that. He started to tell me and I began to fall asleep :lol:. NE-wayz, he actually said that in a much meaner way, I just edited it so I wouldn't get flamed by 98% of the people here.

It's old, but there are always people that have never seen these things. It's worth reposting so they can feel the joy that we once did when we first saw it.

And that ends internet philosophy for the day... :D

Sounds like some pithy bullshit to feel better by putting others down to me. I have a girlfriend, or 3 years....but I wouldn't take coming up with any of this as serious mathmatical equation, but more as a joke. This "joke" reeks of 5 mins development time....not 30 nerds sitting in a room brainstorming for hours. Tell him to spare us the trite, unoriginal comments.

I'm calm....I'm not flaming you....I just think the comment was ignorant, and I felt the need to express it. I'm not typing in all caps, I not talking $$$gish leet speak, I dont have a hundred misspellings cause I'm so pissed off.....I'm just talking calmly. Girls = (Time) + (Money)?

Possibly. But that seems to mean that the satisfaction of the relationship (Girls) could depend on only one of the variables. If I put a very very very large amount of money in a relationship and 0 time, the relationship wouldn't be too succesful. It might have some success, but nowhere near as much as a relationship that had both. I'm not really sure what form the equation should take though.
I feel it should probably be of the form, girls = A*time + B*time*money + C*money with A,B,C depending on the personal preferences of the girl. However, this is just off the top of my head.

Back to the original topic. This is a cute, harmless little proof that anybody with basic knowledge of algebra and proverbs could come come up with when they are bored. Now, if someone posts one of those stupid proofs about how 1+1 = 0, or any of those stupid proofs floating around on the internet, I will be mighty pissed.

His comment was a joke, just like the original post was. Its just funnier to you when its a joke about all girls. When the joke is turned around into making fun of some boys, its suddenly not funny to you anymore.
