I came up with a really good idea the other day, so I want to take it straight to the top. CheapyD, I want your opinion on this one, cuz I think that only you could make this happen. Let's start with a little history, shall we?
I've been here at CAG for a long time now. I remember when FF:Tactics Advance was priced wrong on a website so that we could get it for $14.99 like right after it came out ( CAG's SWARM!!! ). I don't even want to talk about how well my friends and I made out with the whole Pepsi Stuff fiasco.
So where am I going with this? Well, I'll tell you! I think that we should have a VIP section in the forums where all of the very best deals are posted, like some of the Sears YMMV and such. To get into the VIP section, you should have to be a CAG veteran at the very least. This way, those of us who have been down with CAG the longest will have the best chances of getting the best deals. This would also cut down on the lurkers/SD/FW people.
So, what does everyone think? It's a great idea, right? And like I said, CheapyD, I really want to know what you think. Long live CAG!!!!

Theres already a limit to how many threads you can view in the deals forum without registering. Why add more restrictions that would make new users not want to stay, and instead opt to get their deal information from another site (exclusive deals don't stay exclusive long)?

This is a terrible idea. We've had some of the best deals on this site from brand new members.

If something like this were implemented when I signed up I wouldn't have stayed.
I hate to be that guy, because I am by no means super active here, but join date in 2003 with only 25 posts, and you want to keep "lurkers" from deals.

Horrible idea.
In fact, Cheapy outright made a joke about this type of thing a couple years back on April fools day. Something about CAG "premium" status.

Less affiliate link click-thrus = less $$ for cheapy = not gonna happen
The more people that visit CAG, the more potential $$ can be made so he's not going to do anything that would drive away people.

I read the forum enough to know that this has suggested before.
How many new visitors are going to stick around for over a month if they can't access the part of the site that likely brought them here in the first place? Pretty much zero.

Why would you close the CAGcast forum?

What makes you think that there aren't lurkers/SD/FW people on here who have had accounts for ages?
