If you had to pick one which would it be? Or are they completely different?

completetly different. either way, though, i'd choose NG -- picked it up last week -- absoluetly beautiful game, but be warned, the challenge level is intense (even on normal) and there is no easy on this one. Tough game, but fun to play. This isn't to say SC2 isn't good -- but if you played SC on Dreamcast, then you're not missing out on much. SC2 (i think) is overrated and not a huge leap from the first; it's essentially a graphical upgrade with some more characters.

Depends, you want multiplayer or immersive one player? Ninja Gaiden is a great adventure, but Soul Calibur 2 will keep you and friends happy for years. Oh, and this is in the wrong forum.

Thanks guys. I seem to be reading that they're not all that different. And since I'm looking for single player Ill go NG.
Outpost.com has Soul Calibur II for Xbox for only 19.99 (http://shop4.outpost.com/product/3672935), I would get that since Ninja Gaiden is still 49.99. Then get Ninja Gaiden when the first cheapass deal rolls in.

I'd get SCII at this point since it's pretty cheap now. Got it at Target for 30 and there's a link above for 20. Can't go wrong there. Use it to keep you busy until Ninja Gaiden drops around that range. :)

Gameplay wise, its no contest. Ones the equivilent of a pretty dreamcast port(a well done one) and ones an awesome genre defining game. If you can afford Ninja Gaiden its worth your time and money.

they are completely different, but soul calibur 2 it a much better game imho, the weapons master mode is pretty cool too, it will keep you hooked on the single player part of the game for a while, I've put around 30 hours into it and I still have weapons to unlock

I hated Ninja Gaiden, get Otogi $16 -> http://shop4.outpost.com/product/3673225/ and Prince of Persia instead
