In light of a recent topic, how about talking about some of the tv series based on videogames? For example, Street Fighter II had a series which was pretty good. What are some others that you enjoy or dislike?

Did anybody ever watch the non-animated Mortal Kombat tv series? It was a one hour drama that I remember being pretty interested in though i never found out what happened to it.

Nah I never got to see the MK live action series. Just never caught my interest.
Speaking of Mortal Kombat, I liked the animated series more than the US Street Fighter.
Moeity are you talking about Street Fighter V the series, because the one that aired in USA was decent.
Also as a child I loved watching USA, they used to have a lot of fun shows, anyone remember PacMan the animated series? I liked it. I won't say it was the best tv series, but it was enjoyable.
You can't forget The Super Mario Bros. Super Show. I could not wait to get home to watch it, especially Friday, just because that meant Legend of Zelda was on (sure the cartoons are kind of lame now, but so was T.M.N.T. As we grew up, we didn't notice, it was just cool).
Captain N would be my best series not based on a videogames, but based on a lot of videogames. Sure Belmon was a wuss, but the whole show I thought was cool.

The live action MK series was pretty cool, I got to watch one or two episodes and forgot all about it.
Also, the Mechwarrior and Earthworm Jim cartoon were pretty cool.

The older Sonic series was pretty neat. Not sure how I feel about the new one.

There's a new Sonic series? I guess I'm more out of the loop than I thought. Is that Sonic X?

I remember there was two sonic shows that were airing simultaneously. One was a really goofy one with Sonic as we fought against Robotnik and his two typically-goofy goons. The other aired on abc and was a lot slicker in animation and cooler overall. I think Sonic's girl was in it too and they lived in the forest or something. Anyone remember these two shows?

WTH? I'm pretty sure video games have become a bigger part of American since these shows aired (and since I missed them). So why don't they make any more?

Yeah there've been 4 Sonic shows as far as I can remember:
1) The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog - The good one that aired on ABC on saturdays that was loosely based on the Sonic comics
2) Sonic the Hedgehog - the craptastic one that was all about Sonic fighting Robotnik and the goons that were in Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (the game)
3) Sonic Underground - Worst show EVER MADE. Sonic has 2 siblings and they all play magical instruments and sing wuss-rock songs to fight bad guys. WHO THE HELL APPROVED THIS!?!
4) Sonic X - The anime series airing on the FOX Box. What I've seen is quite good but I heard its already been cancelled over in Japan (after like 50 some odd episodes tho).
Also Captain N and all the Mario cartoons rocked.

the super mario cartoon and the earthworm jim cartoon. earthworm jim had one of the best theme songs ever. i used to know all the words. unfortunately, now all i remember is "a super suit did fall, inside he did crawl."
they need to put that out on dvd.
EDIT: i looked it up, and was a bit off:
EARTHWORM JIM!
Through soil he did crawl,
EARTHWORM JIM!
A supersuit did fall!
Jim was just a dirt-eating, chewy link of worm flesh,
but all that came to a crashing end, ha ha ha!
EARTHWORM JIM!
He's such a groovy guy,
EARTHWORM JIM!
He rockets through the sky!
Cruisin' through the universe, having lots of fun,
here comes Earthworm Jim you know that he's the mighty one!
Look out!
---
Despite his great big muscles and his really big ray gun,
Jim is just an earthworm but then he's the only one
with a supersuit to make him really super-strong!
Jim can be a winner if we only sing along!
Alright!
EARTHWORM JIM!
We think he's mighty fine!
EARTHWORM JIM!
A hero for all time!
EARTHWORM, EARTHWORM, EARTHWORM, EARTHWORM JIM!
Hooray for hiiiiiiiim!!

During the last episode Kung Lao and his friends get killed and Raiden gets beat up by Shao Kahn.
It was a pretty good series actually.

I wasn't a fan of the Super Mario Super Show except on Fridays when they showed the Zelda cartoon. That show was a lot less goofy than most other video game cartoons.

I realize now Super Mario Bros. was so cheesy, but I was young and unware of the cheese factor: I loved watching it! Zelda rocked, too. I totally forgot about the old Sonic show! I used to watch that one, as well. Even in general, they don't make cartoons like they used to. :)

Yeah, my vote goes to the good Sonic. In that one, Robotnic had already taken over the world, and Sonic was leading an underground resistance movement. Really good show.
Mario was awesome too. I actually have the whole EWJ collection on VHS, not a bad show either.

That Donkey Kong and Pac-Man show I vaguely recall being on a program called "Supercade" or something...I think each was 15 minutes. I was very young at the time (kindergarden-ish) so I'm not positive.
Never really watched the MK live show even though it was on after Nitro, which I usually watched.
I watched the SMB Super Show and it was amusing to see a hack like Captain Lou Albano as Mario, but other than that it wasn't that great. The Zelda cartoon on Fridays was a tad better. "Excuuuuuuuuse me, princess!"
When they put Super Mario 3 (and later Super Mario World) on Saturday morning network TV I kind of started drifting out of it...watched SMB 3 a few times but that was it. I did still check in with the old SMB Super Show when they had those two surfer 'tards hosting it instead of Captain Lou and the other guy.
I did like the SFII V series, and bought the 4 DVDs that collected it.

Oh man. I DL-ed a couple for memories sake, and I didn't realize how overused that line was! He'd even say it at inopportune times. I was almost cringing. Oh well, when we were kids it was good entertainment. :)
