I ordered the GOW Collection a couple of days ago, but my ordered hadn't shipped yet (but in the 'preparing' phase). I just emailed Amazon, and they took $5 off the GOW Collection instead, which is a win in my book!

However, my order details look a bit funky now - the item subtotal became $24.99, and my Gold Box discount is still there, turning into -$1.25 which is 5% off that - but I was using free shipping (and it says still says so on the side), and now I have a $4.49 shipping charge on my order instead, bringing the total to $28.23. I guess we'll see what happens when it ships...

The title makes it seem like you're getting a $10 credit for buying the GoW Collection, but the reality is you get the $10 credit for buying GoW3 and the $5 towards GoW3 for buying the GoW Collection.

I think what people are getting at is if say you bought it at Best Buy. You have a 30 Day Price Match Guarantee for them or local competitors. The difference is this is the Internet and Amazon doesn't have to match anything that they don't choose to do so on. Chances are if you bought it online, you saved money on it in the first place. Because 3 weeks ago, the game was still $39.99 in almost all stores. I know it was on sale at one point for $29.99 and that's when these people jumped on it. You saved $10, if you would have waited another 3 weeks, you would have saved another $5 towards the purchase of another game. That's probably going to screw you in the end. I understand the frustration but we're talking 3 weeks ago. If you really wanted the credit towards GoW3, you should have, politely, emailed them and indicated that you just noticed a new promotion for an item you recently purchased and you were wondering if you could take advantage of it. At your own discretion, assuming you're within the 30 day window, you could also allude to the fact that you could easily just return the game and reorder it and get the credit that way so where's the harm in giving you a one-time credit.

That's the way I've typically handled these situations and Amazon has credited me on every occasion ($5 after Mirror's Edge dropped from $15 to $11.35, $10 towards my GoW3 UE order after they started the pre-order promotion (even though it didn't apply), and $2 after Williams Collection dropped from $20 to $18). The only one I didn't get was when Infamous' MSRP dropped to $40 after Black Friday, though that was me being greedy since I got it for $30 (Discover promo) + a $20 PSN credit anyway :)

Point is, you're more likely to get CS to throw you a bone if you're not rude and disrespectful.

The way I see it, I paid $26.xx including tax for the GoW collection (I'll likely throw out the pre-order and pick up GoW3 once it is on sale or has a price drop), and anyone picking it up from Amazon paid $29.99.

In order to benefit from the $10 off a future gaming order, you will likely need to spend more money, ultimately saving money on the NEXT game, but not this one.

If for some reason, I was able to return the pre-order and get my $5 back, I could theoretically get the game from Best Buy for $19.99 + tax.

GOW III will hold value for awhile it's a Sony exclusive they take forever to drop in price.

That said I still have not beat one or two so I can wait a few years for a price drop.

I bought the Collection back in October and already had GOW 3 pre ordered. I emailed amazon about the current promo and they took 5 bucks off of GOW 3 for me to drop it down to $51. Their customer service by far is the best.

I cant believe that anybody would ever write an angry letter to customer service at Amazon.

They emailed me back about purchasing the game 3 days before the promotion and they applied a $5 promotional credit on my account. Funny thing is I can use it on any game including GOW 3. Now I am debating if I want to pick it up at TRU(which I have $35 in gift cards) or Amazon, which I will have $10 in credit but will get $10 back from buying it.

Wow, Amazon is king. Just credited me $5 for any purchase. Applying that to my UE pre-order! :)

Amazing is awesome. It took me two e-mails (the second being a reply because the first rep thought I actually had a claim code for the $5 credit), but they gave me $5 credit for my next purchase. They "made an exception" and I am extremely pleased with the result, especially when I told them that I ordered the God of War Collection last November.

Either way, A+ to Amazon. Examples of good customer service like this are reason enough why I mostly do my game shopping on their site, even when I have to pay tax being in NY.

So anyone that is in a similar situation, give it a shot and e-mail them. Just remember to be kind.

white knight chronicles did. this is only like the second time ive had a problem with amazon and i know their customer service will take care of it so im not really mad.

anyways, im debating whether i should play it, contact amazon and exchange it, or sell it and buy gow:c again and use whatevers left on a different game.

So they shipped you a $60 game for only $30. Not too bad if you remotely want that game :)

Usually they don't care since shipping you a new one plus return shipping cost them enough money anyhow.
