Is there anyway to ship something for under $40 to the UK from the US? I pick the flat rate option, the normal option and its all about the same. The thing only ways 30 oz. Am I not picking the right option?

Um? Where?
You are probably looking at UPS or Fed-Ex
Go to USPS.COM
I was able to ship an item via Priority International - 5 pounds insured up to $300 bucks all for about 45 bucks around christmas to Belgium or Sweden or some wacky place.
I am sure 30 ounces there would be a lot cheaper.

Check out their flat rate box sizes(in person if you can) and determine what size would be best(and safest) for your item to go in.
The prices range from $12.78 for a Flat Rate envelope, up to $53.15 for the Large Flat Rate box.

30 oz would count as first class. flat rate envelope might be cheaper though around $13.

If you don't mind my asking, what are you planning on shipping? Hopefully you haven't gotten caught up in one of those Nigerian-by-way-of-UK scams...

Its just some toys I sold on rangerboard. The best I can find is $40 for a medium flat rate box or $30 for just a normal box. That just doesn't seem right.
