I've always wanted Alice...... American McGee gives the best interviews, and it would be great finally sample his work firsthand :-)

does anyone know the system requirements to get it to run?

Also, how many keys on the keyboard does it use and would it be practical to map them to a controller since I can't use the keyboard/mouse?

Battle for Middle Earth listing is really screwed up. Says it is a pre-order in the description, but in the item details it says it is 'In-Stock ships in 1-2 days' (yeah right). I don't see anywhere on the listing where it says you are just putting a down payment towards the full $50 price.

Or maybe they are going to ship you something immediately that is just the pre-sell slip you can buy in store today for $10 down? Maybe that's why they say it's in stock and ships immediately? Hmm almost placed an order to see what would happen but I think I'm going to hold back.

okay, figured it out:

Pre-order the game and receive a bonus CD and become a founding member of The Fellowship Club. Get ready to defend Middle-earth.

As a founding member of the Fellowship Club, you'll receive access to exclusive artwork, behind-the-scenes game development footage, special in-game bonuses and more. The bonus CD also includes an interactive 3D map to help you explore and navigate through the wondrous world of Middle-earth.

its ten dollars to reserve and when you reserve you get the bonus CD sent to you, hence the "In-Stock ships in 1-2 days"

Min System Requirements:
System: PII 400 or equivalent
RAM:64 MB RAM
CD-ROM: 4X CD-ROM
Video Memory: 16 MB VRAM
Hard Drive Space: 580 MB
Mouse: Yes
Sound Board: Yes
DirectX: DirectX v7.0

Recommended System Requirements
System: PIII 500 or equivalent
RAM: 128 MB RAM
CD-ROM: 8X CD-ROM

I'm not sure about the controller issue, but when I played the demo it didn't seem to use that many keys. I think it might actually work better with a controller rather than a mouse and keyboard since its a third person adventure game. I've always wondered why it was never ported to consoles.

That's a really nice price on Rise of Nations.

Gamespot gave it a 9.3 and its expansion got a 9.0

Yep, that does appear to be what they mean. Still they don't explicitly say you will owe more money for the game when it comes in. Lots of online stores call it a pre-order when you buy something before it comes out. (For example I have pre-ordered the upcoming extended LOTR movie from coconuts - paid in full.)

They really need to put in a paragraph explaining that the $10 goes towards the full MSRP of the game and you will owe the full amount when it hits shelves on whatever expected date that is.

You could order it and then raise a fuss if they want you to pay more when the game drops. I think ultimately you'd probably just get your $10 refunded though.

Alice was good but not great. I think of the game as more style over substance. You get hooked on it early on but after awhile, the gameplay gets a little too straight-forward.

The 2 boss fights at the end are hard as hell. I do like the imagination that the game has but I kinda wished that the story was more interesting (instead of a random series of events).

AM's Alice uses the Quake 3 engine, so the requirements shouldn't be high. I got it when it first came out. As mentioned by others, it has a lot of style. Some jumping puzzles involved...keep that in mind.

I used mouse/keyboard. Since you'll be throwing a butcher knife, you'll need the pinpoint accuracy. The weapons are really cool. At $9.99, I recommend this game.

Armed and Dangerous is a really solid action game for people who are into those. Good comedy and great, creative weapons. Go get.

I remember when I first saw a preview for Breed on X Play I was really looking forward to it. Then I saw the reviews. (http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/454452.asp?q=Breed)
Although, there is a reason for the bad reviews. (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/breed/news_6094509.html)
