Yeah....D&D is sort of a geeky game but there is no denying the fact what a huge cultural influence it is. Arguably every videogame RPG owes a debt to Dungeons & Dragons.

Today, I will don my +3/+3 Helm of Celebration. It gives a 20% bonus to my partying skill.

I spent one night/week all through high school playing Dungeons and Dragons. As geeky as that is, I loved every second of it.

odd, that's about the age of it's average player ;-) Seriously though, when i can find a good DM, it's a blast to play.

Yeah, videogaming is pretty geeky too, don't forget. Thank god for Tolkien. It was his vision that inspired GG and subsequently inspired programmers to invent the RPG genre in videogame form. Every hack & slash and RPG you youngin's twiddle your thumbs to owe a debt to Tolkien and Gygax (and Arneson, but that's stil disputable).

I have never played it, and never have an intention on doing so.

Haven't played D&D board games but as a little kid I use to watch the cartoons all the time.

I usually play D&D once every other week, and I have a blast. I also love the D&D PC games, with Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn being my favorite game of all time.

D&D isn't a board game.

The worst thing to come out of the D&D franchise was that stupid movie with Marlon Wayans. Whoever greenlighted that movie needs to be shot in the head. Otherwise everything they've put their name on has been pretty decent, especially the forgotten realms pc games.

I agree the movie is horrible. They should have made the Icewind Dale trilogy into a trilogy. Now those would have been good movies.

I loved the DND cartoon. My favorite character was Venger.

After watching some ppl at Books-a-Million play it a year ago, I've wanted to try it, but I don't have the incentive. First, you gotta read the big-ass rule book, and then you gotta find someone to play with (which can be hard).

I own Icewind Dale II, but never played it. That is the extent of my D&D experience.

Wait, isn't KOTOR D&D based?

Yep- I've run a AD&D group for 7 years now, and played for 9 years (including DM ing). Group is going to start playing WOW because of distance issues.

Anyone in the Seattle area interested in playing AD&D (I.E. Pen and Paper). My wife and I would be happy to play in 3rd edition, or I'd be happy to run a 2nd edition game.

PM me if interested.

KOTOR as in Knights of the Old Republic? If yes, then no, KOTOR isn't D&D based, it's Star Wars based.

I think Knights of the Old Republic is based on D&D rules.

RavingGoat is right, KotOR is based on the D20 rules, which were first used by Dungeons and Dragons 3.0.
