LCD monitor

i have a lcd monitor with an hdmi,vga,dvi ports. I have a regular cable box in my dorm so i have my old tv connected using a coaxial cable. How do i connect cable tv to the lcd monitor, would i have to do it through my laptop or xbox 360?

wrong thread. and get a cable box with hdmi out. All new hd boxes have them.
