View Full Version : Halo 2: Midnight Craziness is Everywhere...

So I ordered my copy, well two copies, of Halo 2 from Overstock.com earlier this year. My roommate ordered a copy from Gamerush. With all the talk of midnight pick-ups at both EB and Gamestop, we were starting to feel the hurt. But then Gamerush announces that it will be open until 2 AM for Halo 2, and that there will be other sales and promotions of interest.
Insert awesomeness. My university bookstore is now opening at 12 AM in order for students to pick up preordered copies! Interesting indeed. Anyway, I was just wondering if any other CAGers saw interesting places where Halo 2 Midnight Madness has hit.

This is just crazy, it's just another average FPS, I dunno what the big deal is? I ordered from MTV.com during their deal and I couldn't care less when I get it just as long as it is within a month or 2 of release.

Just expect a dozen drunken rednecks and a bunch of crashed servers about 20 minutes later.
I have to go into EB around 9 P.M. to pick up a number. Then, I have to come back at midnight and stand in line for it. They took too many preorders, so not everyone will get a copy! I wish they would go by how long ago you preordered, because I would go first at their store.

AFAIK, you have to wait there. I think. I wouldn't mind waiting, I have nothing to do between 9 and midnight on a monday night.. I do have class the next morning at 9 though.
I think my local EB is #4 in the whole southeast regarding halo prebooks.. we're almost at 1000.. I know some pretty big names are going to be coming in to help out..

Your really chancing it since GRs usually don't hold games for people. Even pre-orders. And I think a lot of people will go pick up their copy from your store before you if you wait until after work. Good luck.

Well, I did PRE-ORDER it. I believe mine actually holds them for their customers too. They called me to tell me MK:D was in. I went to buy SW:Battlefront and they had to check to make sure how many pre-orders they had.
Also, my GameRush usually seems empty anytime I go in there. Except on weekends when people rent movies.
Also, the people who say it is mediocre, have you played it yet? Did you get the illegal copy? I for one thought HALO was a pretty darn good FPS....one of the best on any console.

The crazy part for me is that getting home at 1am with a videogame would be useless . . . I'd fall asleep playing it :lol:
I can wait an extra day . . . or more for almost any game.

If I have to come back to my EB I'm cracking skulls. It was kind of funny when I preordered it though cause they told me that the bar and grill at the mall entrance will be open so if I wanna get some drinks while I wait. Woohoo drinking and Halo 2, there's a combo!

The worst part is having to watch everyone walk out of the store after getting their copy. They get to go straight home and play. I'll be lucky if I get to play at all that night, as I probably won't be getting off until around 2 or 3 AM.

I have to wait until Tuesday to get mine. It's not a big deal, my copy is pre-ordered, I'm not worried. Plus, hopefully most people will have picked up their copies by the time I get there.

I'm sorry. Thats why I'm glad I can drive. The only thing that sucks is that I have school the next day. Hm... Go at midnight, pick it up, play an hour, go to bed, and have it bug me all day or get it after school then play all afternoon. Decisions, decisisons..

I'll pick it up at 9:30 on Tuesday. I have 8:00 class, but then I'm done for the day. I enjoy sleeping so I'll go to class, then wait for EB to open up, then pick it up. I'l be on xbox live by 10:00, and have all day.

Well, where I live they keep the malls open all night, they just close the stores. You're welcome to go walking around the mall at 3 am if you'd like. In fact, some of the food stores (the muffin shop in the food court, for example) open at 4 or 5am during the week because old people like to walk around the mall to get exercise. I guess its because the mall is air conditioned and they feel safe there.

I preordered it from EB, BUT...
I can't pick it up at the store apparently. When I bought it, I used the $20 voucher from that Unreal Tournament 2004 deal back in February, and it wouldn't let me choose store pick-up as an option.
Kind of sucks, but oh well. So I'll have to wait 2 days to play it...to me it's worth it, considering I got the limited/collector's edition for 35 bucks.

I know they may open the mall part EARLY for "mall-walkers" & they sometimes keep the door to Ruby Tuesdays open later since it's a bar, but no 24 hour malls here.

I'm pretty sure they will open the mall for this Midnight Madness sale even if it's not a 24 hour mall (is there even such a thing?). They'll probably only have one entrance open and a roped off path leading to EB.

I've seen nice malls and they're not on this continent. Seriously nice ones in Asia. Particularly KLCC in Malaysia and the malls in Makati, Philippines. Holy crap. Malls here don't even compare.

It was said in saracasm. If idiots think Halo 2 is medicore, then HL 2 is mediocre too. There is NO way HL 2 will sell nearly as many copies as Halo 2 and "average" titles don't sell nearly 2 million preorders.
Also, if it's "mediocre" then why buy it at all? Don't act like it's free from the retail site since it's nearly $10 for shipping.
But honestly, I'm wouldn't buy HL 2 for $10.

You mean like when the PS2 was released? I really do hope they produce enough copies... over 1.5 MILLION preorders should be some damn clue. Yeah as long as people don't stoop as low as to harm another to get a copy... oh hell... who am I kidding... give me your copy of Halo 2 Kid!
