studio reported it was $20 at a Gamestop in New York. I just got back from a Gamestop here in Utah and it was $20 in their system. And if this price is good in both places as opposite as New York and Utah, I'd assume it is good everywhere else:

Here is my theory as to what is going on here:

A little while after this game was listed on their site, Gamestop made a promotion for purchasing this game (Xbox or PS2 pack). When you bought this game you could receive either a special Rubik's Cube or window decal free. Gamestop then set the search in their website to only show the two promotional bonus products and removed the game only products from the search.

The bonus promotion for this game recently came to an end and the two bonus product pages were removed. But it seems that they did not bother to restore the game only products in the search. The game has probably not been selling since it doesn't show in the search. They probably then saw their numbers on sales for this game and thought they had better drop the price to start selling it. I would hurry and purchase this before they see their sales increase again and raise the price; I doubt this is a price drop.

I can't seem to find the link for the PS2 version (even after searching Google), but it is still listed for $40 on Amazon so I'd assume it has not been discounted.

FWIW, the default control scheme on Xbox is far better than the PS2 (L trigger=brake, R trigger=accelerate). You can also use the PS2 controls if you find that uncomfortable (which it is for those who put several hundred hours into the PS2 versions).

i just caved and ordered it. I figure the price drop coincides with the san andreas release, but at least gamestop has free shipping. Actually i have a feelin this will be clearanced soon at CC and BB and target.

It's probably a price drop before the Andreas release... the double pack was $25.xx a while back at Target... It's just another $5 off...

Thanks for posting this. I was fighting the temptation to buy this last weekend at Wal-Mart for 29.99... but 19.99 shipped free with no tax? And new?! That's a great deal. I haven't spent much time with these games because I don't own a PS2, but I've heard you get your money's worth on play time. Anyway, I bought a copy.

How does one get them for 17.22? Ebgames sells the Xbox version of Vice city used for $29.99, and the Xbox version of III used for $14.99. Even after coupon codes, that is $33.74 + tax.

I don't think this is a price drop, even with San Andreas coming out. I doubt they'd sell the games at 10 bucks a piece new. I think it's just a temporary thing.

Pretty decent, I picked up GTA:DP for $20 from a pawn shop a while ago (and suprisingly GTA3 wasn't even opened) and for the price they're good games. A few of the gameplay mechanics bug me, but at least they improved it quite a bit over the PS2 and even PC versions (analog acceleration/break, nicely improved graphics, and custom soundtracks, woot!). Definatly worth jumping on this deal now, I have a feeling they won't drop to $20 retail for a while.

Awesome price. I bought mine at Target for $28.88 a couple of months back. I get a lot of use out of the custom soundtrack feature, as I've already listened to the radiostations 100s of times on the PS2 versions.

Just got back from school. Thanks for the edit CheapyD. I guess people don't want to spend time reading an extra sentence to see what I had posted.

To clarify to some of you: I found this deal at Amazon.com and posted their link because I could not find the link at Gamestop. I then found the link looking at the strategy guide and updated the Gamestop link into my original post. You still cannot find this listing at Gamestop using a search. My theory for why this is is in the fourth post of this topic's forum.

If someone could go to a local store and retrieve the product ID number for the PS2 version or just check the price at the store I would appreciate it, but I think it is still $40. Xbox version is way better though.

I don't think this is YMMV. I just saw this in-store when I was picking up a copy of Smash Brothers. Definitely a great deal if you don't own it already (unforunately for me, I got the PC version for both, kind of a waste if I get this too).

Just got back from a local Gamestop and the $20 Xbox price was good there.

I asked them for the product number for the PS2 version so I could get the link for it since it doesn't show in a search:

As you can see, the PS2 version is still $40, but I'd maybe keep an eye on it. (Still, the Xbox version is much better.)

I think the PS2 bundle is out of print now. Does anybody know if they've ended print on the Xbox version?
