ok so here's the hypothetical deal(somewaht inspired by the "saw" trailers)

lets say you have no games and no systems
You are given 20 dollars, and a choice of any three systems(ps2, xbox, or game cube)for free. the catch is you will never be allowed to have another system other than the one you pick and the twenty dollars can only be used on one game that costs 20 dollars or less.

what system do you pick? and what do you get with your 20 bucks?

I would say PS2 with Kingdom Hearts..

But I'd have to go with XBox and PoP. I mean, I love KH and all.. but I'd need my XBox somewhere down the road.

Hmm how about an Xbox and look for a used copy of Halo. Or maybe counterstrike.

PS2 - and even though I'm not a die hard GTA fan, probably Vice City because there's so much that you can do in the game and so much extra stuff you can uncover.

I refuse the $20 and purchase a console and wahtever game I want rather than being stuck with one console. Who here really wants to only have an Atari 2600?

I have them all, but if I didn't I would have to pick a PS2 with Pandora Tommorow.

That's what I'd do too, but not because of the one console restriction. I don't think that there IS a game that you could never get tired of playing. Nothing has that much replay value, especially since you've eliminated PCs (mods for games, along with the Sims, Civilization, and lots of other high-replay titles) and the Game Boy (if only for the Pokémon titles). Everything grows old eventually.

Xbox and Morrowind GOTY

I don't have a Xbox and I don't care for it much, but we can't choose PC, and this is the only other platform with Morrowind on it. Morrowind isn't an amazing game, but I could probably spend the rest of my life trying to finish it.

Here are my choices for each console:

Xbox: Project Gotham Racing 2 (it is $20 now)
PS2: Gran Turismo 3
GCN: Although my favorite is Metroid Prime, in terms of replay value I would either go for Super Smash Bros Melee (it has hit $20 at times) or Super Monkey Ball 2
