here in Michigan, they are replaying the Red Wings playoff final games every few days on TV. its really cool to see hockey on TV again, even if the game is years old.

fox sports last night began taking the team the Red Wings are supposed to play and then play the game in a video game and then report the score and show the highlights of the game. last night the Wings beat Carolina 6-5!!!!! they showed video highlights of the goals and then showed old post game player interviews pertaining to the "game." it was really funny!!!!

I think that these are also classics:

Blades of Steel - NES - $3.99
http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/194313.asp

EA NHLPA Hockey 93 - SNES - $2.99
http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/119382.asp

EA NHL Hockey 94 - Sega Genesis - $2.99
http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/118146.asp

EA NHL Hockey 95 - Sega Genesis - $2.99
http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/118709.asp

EA NHL Hockey 2000 - Playstation - $1.49 (First EA with Franchise)
http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/168390.asp

SEGA NHL 2K2 - Dreamcast - $4.99
http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/214325.asp

I couldn't find the classic Nintendo Hockey for the NES that has the Four on Four Hockey with the Fat guy, Medium guy, and Skinny Guy. That game was a true classic.

First hockey game I bought was ESPN NHL Hockey Night for SNES. Fascinating isn't it?

I read "Vintage" and thought it would be NHLPA '93 on Genesis -- my pick for best hockey game ever.

That reminds me. I'm compiling a list of the best and worst hockey games ever. I'll post it in the Old School forum; I'd appreciate CAGer help.

I would have to agree,
NHL 93 for the Genesis and NHL 94 for the Sega CD are tied as my favorite Hockey games of all time.
94 would have been number one if they didn't take out the fighting that year but it had manual goalie control that truly worked and allow me to stop the "Genesis Deke". The Sega CD version had that awesome FMV intro and complete stats for all the players, a prelude to the Hockey games today.
NHL 95 for the PC is another favorite of mine, it was the last 2-D EA Hockey game for the PC. I played that game for 4 years.
My current favorite is NHL 2K5 for Xbox. It does have it's bugs but the good makes up for the bad. Some of the best/realistic gameplay for a Hockey game I have ever experienced.

You mean they came out with hockey games after that?

Warms my heart to see I'm not alone. Just one of the many reasons CAG kicks the proverbial boo'tay.
