*Sorry if its a repost*

Just got my new game informer, man did that piss me off. First id like to put a disclaimer that i have never owned a ps2 nor played a ratchet and clank game....but a 10, isn't that a bit much? I mean, I dont even think they gave vice city a 10

And on an even more disturbing note....They gave THUG2 a 9.75....Once again, I think they missed the mark there. Wasn't it supposedly full of bugs?

Edit* Added Poll

They gave Ratchet and Clank a perfect 10 because its that damn good. with the online battling (which i heard was wicked good or something) and Awesome Graphics Great Gameplay

Personally i dont think any Game deserves a perfect 10

for Thug they are just dumbasses

Ratchet and Clank games have been very good in the past. I played a demo of 3 and it was a lot of fun. Plus the new online should be a great addition.

Knocking a game you have never played is pretty stupid.

Forget Halo 2, Ratchet and Clank 3 is going to be the online console game to have this year. From the beta I played online (it was early, and everything is said to have been improved dramatically) I would have given it a solid 9.5. I love the single player in the previous games, and when you combine that with the multiplayer aspect, you have one hell of a game.

Actually, I'm pretty sure GI did give Vice CIty a 10.
*goes and searches*
Yup, I was right. GTA III (PC and PS2) got a 9.5, while Vice City on PS2 and the Double Pack on Xbox both got 10's.

Thats why i put a disclaimer, and also, i dont belive any game should get a ten...have you ever played a game where u didn't find a single flaw?

No i dont, but my tendency is to believe that vice city is a better game *I will have to play ratchet and clank to really decide though."

Doesn't that mean they thought THUG 2 was better than THUG, cause I think they gave THUG only a 9, and that was way better as far as not sucking goes. For Ratchet and Clank, I've heard nothing but good things about this game, which is why I'm suprised and now worried that GI didn't give it a 2.25.

yes there are games that are 10's. Just because there are flaws does not mean it is not a 10. A 10 does not incinuate it is the perfect game, but rather this is a revolutionary experience or something so refined and perfected that it is damn near perfect.

Well, the first 2 Ratchet games were in my book, 10's. Outstanding games, so the 3rd one getting that high a mark is not that much of a shocker.

I think the best way a magazine said they would rate a 10 is "a game in which any flaws are few and all positives outweight any negative". I guess that's the best way to put it. And either way, whether something deserves a 10 is still a matter of opinion, we just hope that magazines are able to be as unbiased towards a game as possible.

THUG 2 9.75 and Paper Mario 6.75?! Sounds good to me!

Seeing as both Grand Theft Auto games were very buggy.. I'd say neither deserved higher than a 9.25 (and thats ignoring my personal feelings that the lack of being fun should drop them to the low 8s).

However, it all comes down to what you consider a ten. I don't think any publication considers a 10 to be a perfect, no flaw best game ever as some people consider it to be... something more along the lines of extremely fun, no real bugs, great graphics/sound/story/gameplay.. basically excelling in every area.

Normally I think GI is great but with these scores, they must be smoking something this month. They even gave Leisure Suit Larry a better score than PM2.

OP, is this like the first game you've seen rated that high or something? there are tons of games that get tens that dont deserve them as much as R&C 3 probably does...

And you've played all four games to be able to make that comment correct?

We play game for fun and amusement or just to pass the time away. the value of a game is expressed only through those who value the Game.
Yoda says, stop talking BS about bugs. a 10, to me, means go get it. anything under a 9 is on you.

GTA3 had very minor bugs and vice had a few major ones. GTA3 deserves a 10. Vice deserves a 9, and that's ignoring my feelings that these games are so fun that they really deserve 20's.

If no game deserves a 10, then why have it as part of the scale? 10 isn't meant to represent some unattainable achievement because there's no sense in having a representation for an event that can never occur. The point is that when a magazine or whatever gives something a 10, it's supposed to be as close to perfection as a game can realistically get.

I've played all but R&C which sounds good so it could be a 10 ... sure - why not?

THUG2 to me seems like just a rehash of the first one.. certainly no better and with still no Xbox live support.. NO WAY a 9.75.

LSL has lot of good points, is hilarious in spots and I've got nothing against "adult" games. I'd say the score is about the on the mark but just seems a little strange when compared to how much they slammed the Guy Game.

Of course the main problem is low score for PM2. Never played the first one and am by no means a Nintendo fanboy but this game is just great. As for the points taken off for being a "kiddie" game - It's a Mario! -- what do they expect? That he starts decapitating the Oompa Loompas and Princess Peach goes topless?

Finally the comment I made was an just an opinion. GI can give whatever reviews they want... it doesn't mean much. I still think that overall they do a great job and is my favorite magazine. The "smoking something" comment was meant in jest... I'll make sure to put some smileys in next time for you Cornfedwb. :-);-)

the R and C games are incredibly fun, on top of having great graphics and being very well programmed. The controls are just Tight with a capital T.

I think 10 should only be an asymptotic score. As in,
lim x->infinity (GTA x) = 10

Why would you even compare these 2 completely different games?

THUG 2 9.75 and Paper Mario 6.75?! Sounds good to me!

Yes but Thug 2 is "what their readers want" so it gets an elevated score.

PenguinMaster

They also gave Metroid Fusion & Zelda: The Windwaker 10s. I also don't think any game should get a 10, but if anything R&C3 is a much better choice than those two.

On the other hand, THUG2 getting a 9.75 is absurd. I think THUG & THPS4 were both far superior.

They also gave Paper Mario (the first one) only like a 7. It was in Classic GI a few months back.

Also, Vice City is my second favorite game (after Max Payne 2), so that getting a 10 was fine by me. San Andreas, I think should also get a 10 there.

Reviews are stupid. Stick to your own personal opinion. Nobody can really tell you what your gonna like. Especially people on this site or any other with such different tastes in games.
