Because I'm such a big JRPG whore and had nothing better to play, I took a chance on this.

About an hour in so far. Voice acting is passable, battles seem like tales games, although lack the proper "feel" - it's like I'm wiffing the air when I hit enemies. Graphics are decent. There's not alot of music in the game, and it was ok what I heard.

I'd say give it a try if you like JRPGs.

Yes, I did. Took one for the team and tried it out.

Well, about a couple more hours in, and this game isn't wowing me so far. Probably one of the worst JRPGs I've played in quite awhile.

There's no music during the overworld walking, the battle system is proving to be pretty repetitive and shallow. Voices are atrocious, and the story isn't really grabbing me either.

Still, I'm committed to playing through it all the way.

Bonus impressions:

Graphics seem pretty decent in this game, which is about the only positive.

Massive loading before fights; slight loading after fights and when you access your inventory.

Pervy characters - standard fare in most low-rent NIS and Aksys RPGs like this.

I heard the dungeon areas are easy to get lost in since there's no mapping system. Is this game comparable to Crimson Saga ?

I found the game awful. It only took a few hours for me to beat (14 hours and 23 minutes ). I ended up trading it in to Game Stop right after I bought it. Every battle was extremely easy and the voice acting didn't really impress me.

Wow. Really?! I was expecting at least 20-30 hours.

Sounds like this game'll go straight to the boards/ebay when I'm done with it.

Crimson Gem is a much much better game (although I gave up on it early; but for personal reasons)

i dont ever recall getting lost in dungeons in Saga.. I loved that game... So much i ran out and got it again when i found it used for 10... Doubt i ever play it again but it looks very nice in my PSP rpg collection

Got it today Via gamefly will pop it in tonight during RAW and play it

UPDATE

wow played this for 30 mins and got killed by a stupid crab LOL....

got to say you got to be really hurting for an RPG game fix to play this game... Random encounters are very high... Lag time is bad (loading loading loading) you miss as much as you hit .. and the magic spells are just lame...

Game looks like it would sell at 20 bucks... Its a good laugh thinking this game is worth 39.99

Can see this game falling to 29.99 by end of month
Falling to 19.99 by june/july
and even falling to 9.99 By end of summer or even sooner just to clear it out

I probally pick it up for 15 tops

EDIT Seems gamefly has it KEEP IT NOW price for 28.48 (with my 10% discount) too bad gamefly didnt issue a 10 off any game 30 or higher coupon for easter.... Might of been tempted to Buy it off gamefly for 18.48 BUT even at 29.00 I wouldnt touch it

You and Diehard Gamefan agree. This game is absolutely ABYSMAL.

They said if you don't do sidequests, this game is 9 hours long. 9 HOURS.

Worse yet - there are 3-5 more games planned for this series.

I'm like close to 7 hours into this.

I'm not even going to try to sell this on the boards, because I know no one will buy it. Off to ebay it goes when I'm done.

I'm kind of worried about how Record of Agahest War will turn out after this.

If anyone seriously thought this would be a good game I would suggest they go to an optometrist for new eyeglasses. It looked like gutter trash from the very first NA announcement trailer. They couldn't have made it look good if they had tried their darndest.

EDIT: From the Diehard Gamefan review referenced:
It’s also worth pointing out that if you are trying to climb up or down stairs when a battle is triggered, you will be set to the beginning of the stairs after the battle leaving you to try it again. It once took me seven times to get down a flight of stairs. SEVEN TIMES.

WHAT THE FUCK?! This review is a goldmine.

I admit, I was totally blind on this game. I bought it pretty much from the boxart.

I'm gonna be more careful with my next RPGs (although I probably foolishly pre-ordered Record of Agarest War)

At least I avoided Sands of Destruction.

At least Record of Agarest War has tits. Literally, if you get the premium box.

I think all they sell is the premium box.

I didn't even bother to keep playing this game.
It went on ebay yesterday. Hopefully I can get close to what I paid for it.

I didn't even rip the soundtrack (iTunes database doesn't have the track listing)

Well, it's only coming out on PSN for PS3.

I remember the days when JRPGs were so sparse and unloved in the Western market that you could just pretty much blind buy them all and they'd always be at least decent (for the most part).... Now so many shitty JRPGs get released here because the genre has gained popularity. I'm passing on at least half of the ones that are released nowadays.

That's probably not a good sign.

Just got out of the FOREST of DOUBT.... dont really know what people are complaining about this maze about... Yes its long but i dont see why people are saying they get lost very easy in it... Took me around hour maybe 90 mins to get out of it but never got lost (without making a map)

if the game ends when you get the 7 stones then i guess im almost done (cause i just got the 6th stone in the forsest ) at 7 hours

When i first popped in the game and went into the first maze (the cave) i though the game was sort of hard as the boss killed me 6 times before i finally was able to beat it... After this first cave the entire game was VERY VERY EASY never died once again any boss and never had a problem beating any boss..... What i dont like about the game is the LAG when you cast any spell during battle... if you cast MID HEAL in a fight your just standing there probally for 30 seconds before you can cast it and if a monster hits you the spell is NOT CASTED...

I would say BUY the game at 9.99 Rent the game any thing higher then that.. If you can get this game at a trading place like GOOZEX i would say wait till it falls to 300 pts or lower...

ALSO for anyone who beat the game ..... What is up with the jobs at the guild if you cant even take them.... It says there is a list of jobs open but when you go over to check on them it says something like

IM already on the job to get the 7 gems so i dont have time to take another job

What is even more sad dont know if i read it here or someplace else.. but this is part 1 of a 7 part game (dont know if they merger into one another or not)

Overall it was a VERY easy rental and sort of an okay game.... I would play this before i play

Sands of ... or Space for the DS
