While i was at BB today i was surprised to see Outrun 2 on the shelf.

Are there any reviews for this game yet?
Any opinions would be appreciated.

Not supposed to be out yet, comes out Tuesday. It's at Target with a sign that says 'do not sell until 10/26'.

best buy could get in lots of trouble for that. they always seem to put games out early which is not supposed to happen. it's street date is oct. 26th and anyone that sells it before then can get in a ton of trouble. on a website of microsoft it said that people that sell it early should be turned in.

dnt_h8me2 - Thanks for the links.

biggestinuyashafan - This may sound stupid but does it say you get a reward for turning a company in?

I don't think you do.

It's something like a $10,000 fine if they get caught.

They did the same thing with Midtown Madness 3. You'd think the orange sticker would warn them along with everythiing else.

i'm not sure if you get a reward or not, but either way they shouldn't do that. we get stuff in early all the time at GS and we can put it in the console, as long as we don't sell it,we can't get in trouble.

That's awesome that you guys put it in the console. They don't even do that at EB, they just hide it in the back.

we don't always do that, only on certain titles. i saw a game in one of the consoles the other day that wasn't released yet (that we got early) and i asked if we would get in trouble for that and the manager that was working (the assistant manager) said that we could do that as long as we don't sell them. i doubt that many of them do it because the DM might come in and say something to them, but my manager and assistant manager are both leaving, so they don't care anymore if he did or not.

Yeah Gamefaqs board was flooded with posts about Outrun 2.
I'm pretty suprised that Sega shipped this game early, only to go by a streetdate? wtf? This game was delayed in the first place, now theres a street date?

Either way I went to hop on the turnpike today and checked TRU, Best Buy and even Circuit City to see if they had the game early. I was gonna break my budget and get it, but ended up picking Friday the 13th collection.

Theres only two other XBox games I remember with a street date with the label, both happended to be racers as well: Midtown Madness 3 and PGR2.

Atleast this means since my TRU is not breaking street date they'll have plenty of copies come Tuesday, and I'll pick it up in the BOGO.

most places follow the "street date" as they will get in trouble if they get turned in if they break the "street date".

Anyways, the demo on the game seemed like an average racer game. Very simple, could be fun on LIVE though

I agree. The demo was a lot of fun but it seems like a game that would get old really fast.....

Yeah, it seemed like they focused on the powerslide aspect of the game....not really sure if there are any unlockables even. I know there are a few select Ferraris to drive, and that's it.

Glad it's only $40 to start, but maybe for $20 it would be ok.....

It wasn't a sign, actually, each game's seal had that printed on it.

I think Best Buy got busted for selling Doom 3 early.

If bb got fined for puting it out early by the makers of outrun, I bet they would drop outrun as well as any other games from the same production company.

Or.. they'd compare the number of extra copies they sold to the 10K fine they'd incur and wash it out as a business expense.

I have to say, I've just seen a preview of Outrun 2 on G4, and the game looks sweet!...

Got it at TRU 2 days ago. Great game....pure arcade perfection. Well worth the 40 bucks I got it for.

Oh IGN posted there review on it. I would say they are wrong about the length of it.

i bought star wars battlefront from them early also they were selling it the friday before release day on tuesday.

I have the demo from xbm that you can play on live and it's ok, like someone said it'll get old fast REALLY fast when you consider you have NFSU2 coming out next month!

It's now on the retail site....although OOS. Not sure if I want to use my points on this game though...seems like an average arcade racer. It could get repetitive....but maybe not.

I know that I loved this game at the arcades. Played it tons. Don't know how it stacks up for consoles though.

One weird thing about Outrun 2 is that it's co-published by Microsoft. I got my copy from Microsoft, not Sega. Maybe that's just because they wanted to be sure it was Xbox-exclusive.

I busted it out last night for a friend. Looked okay -- similar to the original in many sweet ways, but with quality graphics. Didn't get to play the mode where you listen to your girlfriend's commands, but it sounds like a trip.

I played the demo from oxm as well and I have to say that it wasn't even really that fun, but then again I have burnout 3 on the brain...

I've been playing it here and there, its a pretty fun game but don't expect Burnout 3 or GT blow away racing here. It's simple and fun, and pretty much anyone can get into it. It's meant to be a pickup and play arcade experience, and that's why many people will be hard pressed to pay $40 for it. Anyways, considering I got it in the BOGO, it was worth every penny.

If I wasn't playing so much of GTA San Andreas I would be playing it alot more.

Edit: I take that back, Outrun 2 is gonna be getting more attention from me. I've put 7 hours into San Andreas and just don't care for it too much, gonna try to sell it off to my friends and if all else fails sell it on eBay.

Could someone please go into a little depth of the play mode/styles? What exactly is there to "do" in the game? Is it a basic...just race game? Any unlockables? Anything with substance to the game?

There's the arcade mode, time attack mode and then the challenge mode(You build your skills through 100+ racing challenges)...Honestly I've only played the arcade mode and on Xbox Live...This game is the best...I will play this game for the next 5 years, I can't see myself ever getting tired of it...It's got a classic feel, all about working on your technique and not about unlocking a bunch of stuff...It's best suited for oldschool racing game arcade fans
