(Backstory)
I had a day when i was sick of playing DJ Hero on the PS3. That day was when the network went down and stopped me from playing games. Since then, i decided to dump anything that wasn't console exclusive.

I put DJ Hero on eBay and someone purchased it on 4/2. Despite my emails, they have decided not to pay until today 4/6 (1 hour before i can open the dispute) and paid by echeck which takes another 3-5 days to clear. I am still planning to open an UID on them just in case the echeck bounces but i am starting to smell a rat here.

Why wait this long to pay and then pay by echeck with no communication to the seller whatsoever? Am i just being paranoid here?

It is suspicious, but never ship until the money is in your account. Also make sure to get tracking when you do ship so that they can't pull anything on you and you should be fine.

Hell, I'd even take a few pictures of it while you're packing it up, so they can't claim it was in bad shape when they received it...definitely smells funny.

eh, happens to me a lot. people win, mean to pay later, then forget until the last minute. wait until the check clears and you will be fine

Annoying yes, but I don't know if this is super suspicious. Happens all the time with people who bid and then win but forget about it til the deadline. Like posts above though, pictures and tracking would never hurt to have as defense in case.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I have had something like this happen to me before. The buyer took forever to pay, paid with an echeck, etc. It all turned out fine though.

Sometimes I forget to pay for close to a week, however I do contact the seller and let them know what's up. Also, I hate asking questions on EBay because I get responses back like 4 - 5 days after the item has ended. Based on that length, I hate asking sellers questions.

have you ever received a check as a form of payment? most users just accept paypal for a reason. now that I think about it, are money orders allowed? that would probably another good way to received payment since no pp fees

It's more often the Buyer who gets scammed. You pay then nothing ships and you can't get hold of the guy. Don't ship til it clears and your golden.
