In the vein of HOTD2&3 Returns, it's another bundle of arcade light-gun games. This time, as the title says, the games are Gunblade NY and its sequel L.A. Machineguns: Rage of the Machines. At the time, these light-gun games brought some unique features to the table: Your primary weapons was a machine gun instead of a pistol, and your character was positioned inside a moving vehicle (Helicopter in the first game, hoverbike in the second). It's also worth mentioning that, to the best of my knowledge, neither of these titles have been ported to a console before.

Here are some videos of the original arcade versions:

Nice. I played HOTD: 2&3 yesterday for the first time and my wife and I loved it, so we're definitely looking forward to more of these types of games.

Sega. I'm not going to lie to you. If you keep releases light gun games, I'll keep buying them. Take note.

Gunblade was kickass! I spent a slot of time on this game at my arcade as a kid. I would totally buy it! They don't make lightgun games like they used to.
Here is a picture of the original machine:

It was a badass machine. (Oh whilst finding the image, I found a specialist in the UK is selling this and other classic machines for £2000, if I had the money I would totally buy it)

Gunblade kicked a lot of ass. The machinegun that you used gave a lot of kick that made it feel really powerful , but was also murder on your arms after extended play. Never beat the game though since the last boss was totally cheap and required either tons of continues or 2 people playing. Granted I know that was kinda the point but still , I wanted to beat the game without a co-pilot or spending a fortune.

Never played or head of L.A. Machineguns though. Also hope this arcade pack is priced smart at around $20 or so.

L.A. Machineguns also kicks the booty. I've wanted a home port since playing it in the late nineties.

I've been looking for another Wii lightgun game for a while. I love Ghost Squad, but I'm not really into the House of Dead series. It's highly likely that I'll be getting this bundle.

And when this game doesn't sell that great they'll say that "core" games don't sell on the Wii. The Wii is perfect for games like this and I like them to an extent, but they need to lower their expectations on sales and budget accordingly. Most people don't like on rails shooters, so most people aren't going to buy them. Having said all that, this is a port of arcade games, so perhaps they are doing that very thing with this. I suppose this isn't costing them much to produce, and so it may not need big sales to make a profit.

Oh my god. Never in a thousand years did I think I'd see a home port of LA Machineguns. I'm there, I'm so fucking there.

Today, we’re announcing the comeback of 2 classic SEGA arcade games in one package — Gunblade NY and LA Machineguns, exclusively on the Wii this fall.

Gunblade NY and LA Machineguns have been adapted from the original arcade machine games to make full use of the Wii controller. While interacting and shooting on the streets of New York and Los Angeles the Wii Zapper compatibility provides even more immersion for the players. Gunblade NY and LA Machineguns Arcade Hits Pack also contains new features such as the Chain Combo System which enables even higher scores, and the Unlockable Weapon Toggle which uses game ranking to unlock hidden extras such as wide shot, rapid fire and heavy shot.

True to the original arcade games, Gunblade NY and LA Machineguns is set in the airspace above some of the United States’ most well-known locations. Players will be able to combat android invaders in New York City with their Gunblade helicopter gunship or take their flying gunship to battle a new force of android enemies in some of America’s most well known locales such as Los Angeles, Alcatraz, Yosemite and Las Vegas.

Just in case you need a refresher on these games, see the video below.
RULE THE SKIES WITH TWO SEGA CLASSIC ARCADE SHOOTERS!

Two fast-paced and beloved arcade shooter games take you to the skies above some of America’s most well-known locales. Up to 2 players control machineguns on two flying battle vehicles to destroy an android terrorist invasion.

First, combat android invaders in New York City with your Gunblade helicopter gunship. Then, climb aboard a futuristic hovering gunship to battle a new force of android enemies in Los Angeles and West Coast locales such as Alcatraz, Yosemite and Las Vegas.

Wii Zapper compatible and a host of added Wii features like online leaderboards for worldwide ranking and Wii Remote rumble complete the experience.

I will definitely buy this game when it's out. I love on rails light gun games. I wonder how the wiimotes will react like machineguns?

Hopefully it won't be more than $20-30.

Why do I feel I need this and the Wii sniper rifle for my life to be complete?

Played these for the first time at an Aladdin's Castle in Maplewood mall in MN.

Fun games, although Gunblade NY hasn't aged well.

Looking forward to picking these up this week.

When the Wii was announced one of the first things I had hoped they would do is release their arcade shooters on one compilation (although it'd probably be hard to get the rights for Jurassic Park and Star Wars) and Gunblade was on that list. Still, I wish it was all part of one compilation instead of 2 games per disc. Hell, go one step further Sega and just release a bigass arcade compilation... I wanna play Die Hard Arcade again, and I'm sure Top Skater would be do-able with Wii controls (especially the wii fit board)

What do you guys think is going to be the best Wiimote adapter to play these? The Zapper? Maybe the Duo SHot?

That sucks, that means its going to interfere with my Metroid Other M playtime.

Actually, the release dates are all over the place. Amazon says 8-27, Toys R Us says 8-28, Gamestop says 8-31. Must be because the stores get them with slow shipping.

This game has dropped off the TRU website entirely. Dammit. I can't use my $15 giftcard from DQIX. I might wait till this drops in price.

Amazon says they have it, while everybody else says next week.

Why are release dates so inconsistent for $20-30 games?

I need to go to my parents house and pick up my packages in a bit. I can't wait to fire up my wii and play it. I was disappointed with Attack of the 3D Movies, so I got my hopes up for this one.

EDIT: After a really good play through this past weekend, I would recommend this at a $15-20 buy price. Gunblade NY is outdated and short, I guess all those quarters really made this game feel longer than it really was, I don't remember finishing this game to say the least at the arcades. LA Machine Guns is a bit more difficult, but has more replay value than Gunblade. All in all, its a fun game but really short. It's a great co-op game to just pop in and play with a few friends. It has some what of a replay value, you do level up among the police ranks unlocking certain things. I would recommend for people to wait for a price drop as far as replay value goes, you don't want to make this a $30 one time play. I seriously don't know how big of a print this game got, so don't wait to long if you really want it.

Picked this up at best buy and I'm disappointed. I guess the gimmick of the shaking machinegun in the arcade brings more to this than I thought.

Games are short - 15-20 min. to beat each game, unlimited continues, and you have to avoid hitting innocent bystanders in LA. Pretty stupid for a machinegun game.

Wait 'till this drops to $10, which it will.

Yeah, I find it hard to support this at 30. But damn, I do want more of these compilations to come out. But not for full price, for me to pick up on clearance. Yet that will never happen if these compilations flop. So I have to buy it for full price.
