Where are all the GTA:SA reviews???

The game comes out in a day or two and I haven't seen a SINGLE review for this game. Usually a mag or a website will have an exclusive review before a game comes out but this time I don't see anything anywhere. Anyone know why? Is this a bad sign? Or is Rock* so confident about their game that they don't feel they need to send advance copies to journalists?

It's a game that it's devs estimate to clock in at over 120 hours and has branching paths as I recall. It will probably take the non-hack reviewers a while to go through in detail.

Maybe its good that you lower your expectations and you won't be as dissapointed if its bad. I jumped into Vice City with huge expectations and was a little bummed by its problems. You should reallly not get too hyped about any game really because no game can truly live up to mass hype which leads to countless discussions of "most overhypped game ever".

Yep, 100+ hours of killin popos is all I really look for in my GTA games, give me a few nice guns and a couple of fast cars and a nice vantage point and I'm set, I really liked the tall buildings from Vice City, sniper heaven!

Well maybe there aren't any reviews because they are selling this game on hype alone and even a good but not fantasic review kills hype. Look at Fable I was all excited but then the reviews came out and if I hadn't already paid for the game with trade-ins I probably would have just passed on it.

I don't think you have much to worry about. It's hard to believe that they will drop the ball given their track record. They put out VC in one year after GTA3 . . . they've had two years for SA. VC sucked in some ways but was still better than any other game on the market (in the genre).

SA will get 8s, 9s and a few 10s (points will be deducted for lack of originality).

Yeah, my favorite is the chat station, especially in Vice City with the Florida guy who wants to keep all the new people out even though he's been there only a few years. Its great because I've met more than one person down there who's exactly like that.

Well, what I'm saying is that we don't really know that it will get 9's and 10's. We EXPECT it to do about that but, like a previous poster mentioned, look at Fable. It got decent review scores but not 9's and 10's and the previews for it were often very favorable.

It was at E3. When their ego gets big, bad things happen. Don't get too cocky. If they start thinking the game will sell itself due to the name alone, they're right. The initial shipment will sell due to that fact, but if word gets out that it sucks.. not good.

R* has two big faults with GTA:SA. #1, whether you hate this subject or not, the main character is black and that has people here and in other states pissed off, leading to a decline in prebook sales (GTASA has roughly 1/2 of the prebooks Vice City did at the local EB). Three out of five people I've talked to said that they aren't getting it just because the main character is black. Me? I'll get it, and i'm getting a copy for a friend.

#2, the whole sims-like eating crap. The fanbase is wannabe 13 year old kids. This will not appeal to them.

Which bashes it for being just like the other 2 but then slams it for being racism? I think I smell contradiction anyhow the review is basically pissed that the game portrays certain groups in steriotypical ways. He really doesn't mention much about the gameplay itself.

The game hasn't been reviewed online yet because Rockstar is very careful about their code -- especially since the leak. They've always been one of the most protective companies. Most websites have to wait to get boxed copies from Rockstar to review (I think IGN or GameSpot will get an early exclusive).

there is supposedly going to be some FPS elements in a few missions. i think i will like any twist they throw at me. i also think that the eating part and working out part is a great idea. not like its going to take forever to get one thing to each(which will probably be needed like once a week by game time standards)

The game and system hating is disgustingly reminiscent of gamefaq. The difference Is I don't expect much from them, but I do from CAG, so what is up with all this immature hating? I don't know if this was already posted or not but IGN will have their review of GTA: SA posted sometime today. I hope they got it ahead of time because I'd like to know a ballpark figure on total time for the main game and not some review like I've seen a few of in the past weeks where they haven't rated a game. Thats really sweet then!!! I usually put in 100 hours in doing drive bys and exploring everything in the city and just causing chaos lol. I cant wait to do a drive-by on a bicycle lol

The game hasn't been reviewed online yet because Rockstar is very careful about their code -- especially since the leak. They've always been one of the most protective companies. Most websites have to wait to get boxed copies from Rockstar to review (I think IGN or GameSpot will get an early exclusive).
