I swear to god, wether its used or brand new, no electronics I buy can never come without some problems.
I finally get a brand new TV. 27" Flat screen. My friend comes over to help me carry the old TV and the new, even heavier one into my room. Everything seems ok until I change the channel to one of the blue screens. There seems to be dark spots on the screen, while watching normal TV they are hard to spot, but in games and DVDs you can see this lighter spot surrounded by small darkness on the upper right corner. I dont have any speakers or magnets near it so I dont think its that. What would cause this? And I suppose I will have to bug my friend to help me lug this shit back into my car and then bring in a replacement.

Its a JVC. I thought buying one of those DAEOWWGANA type brands would do something like this.

Same thing happened to my 36" Sony XBR when I first got it.
I got it replaced and haven't had a problem since...So, yeah, take it back.
BTW, Do you usually see these spots when the screen is completely white?

I think Im going to call about the warranty and see if I can get an in home repair because I do NOT want to lift this thing up for another 10 years.

We have a Daewoo 27" flat tube. Had it for a year and a half now. No problems what-so-ever and the picture is crystal clear.
I thought that it'd be problematic also so we bought the 4 year replacement plan with it. But so far so good.
I know it's a lot of trouble but the best thing to do is return it. I don't think getting someone to repair it will ever make it as good as new. It may end up being more of a hassle because you'll have to be home when the repair guy comes.

I can see them on lighter colored backgrounds. I first noticed it while playing FFXI. It seems light blue makes it the most apparent.

Did you get a warranty with the TV? When mine started acting up, under the warranty, the store came out to my house and just replaced it...If you're lucky it'll be in your warranty.

They go away after a few months, they are the result of improper handling.

JVC doesn't seem to have a good track record.
I have one of their 48" HD ready projection tv and it also has some discoloration on one corner of the TV, not to mention I can't get it to portray real widescreen. It was cheap though - $1300 with tax and 5 year warranty so if it gets worse I can always get it fixed.

before you blame it on the tv try a different cord with your ps2 first. I had a bad cord once that made me think my tv had burned out because it had three dots similar to yours. So I would try a different cord and see if you can save yourself a hernia

I work at a Sears, and we sell lots of tvs, and I see JVCs get returned the most. I recommend taking it back and swapping for a better brand (Toshiba or Philips, or Sony if you can afford it)
