That's probably the best idea, the way I see things happening is like this: After Halo 2 comes out and assuming it gets good reviews for the next month or so people who didn't pre-order will be scrambling to get the LE copies for the holidays, then after 2 months or so people will slowly realize that these things aren't limited at all and price will drop back down.

I wouldn't buy these things to hang onto in the hopes one day they will be rare, if anything I'd buy them and move them quickly either right after release or around mid December.

I think if you pre-ordered for a copy of the CE or SE or LE edition you will get your copy. I think there is giong to be about a million of these things so no it will not be rare.

Yes. Most, if not all GS (can't speak for EB) are no longer taking CE reserves for the 9th. Anyone reserving the CE now will get it on the 16th. Though keep in mind that a good percentage of people don't pick up their reserves. The store only has to hold the game for 48 hours, so any unclaimed CE's will go to the late-comers.

Also, to anyone who preordered the game before the E3 announcement: technically, you have the CE reserved. If you do't want the CE, just tell them that when you go to pick it up.

ebgames has a nice trade in, trade in select games for $10 credit towards halo 2

I traded in:
dr muto xbox
dynasty warriors 2 ps2
star wars bounty hunter gc
spawn ps2

and paid the other $15 + tax

since all of those were $5 games(except muto, which was ten, but i hated it) I dont feel too bad about this

Ok, so let's just say each store gets about 10-20 EXTRA LE's, that is ot that many at all. I doubt they will have a 2nd pressing of the re-release. I'm sure they will continue to pump out the normal HALO2 Pre-Order. Think, there are about 1.5 millions Pre-Orders....and how many people did NOT pre-order it....I'm sure a bunch. I feel the LE may be snapped up quickly....not like minutes or hours....but a few weeks possibly.

I remember everyone saying the Halo LE Xbox consoles would never be hard to find when they came out because they had made so many of them, but now they sell for a premium on eBay. So you never know.

I refused to preorder and had no problem walking in and scooping up a Collectors Edition, neither did any one else there. I think the CE is kind of just a little something extra like the old gold cartridge Zelda games you'd get on release day or whatever. You spend $5 more you get the shiny box and dvd- they may be rare someday but not anytime soon. Don't let those Gamestop Preorder nag $$$s tell you otherwise either.

Not at all.....I went to Best Buy at lunchtime and was easily able to pick up the LE off of the special "Halo 2" table that contained at least 50 copies.

Sorry, that was a typo, I meant to say 3,000,000. The implication was that there's as many "limited edition" versions of the game as they can sell, and thus it's not really "limited" at all. I probably won't bother getting an LE whenever I do end up getting Halo 2, I don't see the extras being all that interesting

I didn't go for the LE either. I could care less about a DVD, and I don't really think they will end up being worth much more than the RE. Just a way for Microsoft to make a little more money.

Limited Editions of games that are this hyped up won't be rare. I really think you should get whichever box you think is cooler. If you like the metal box, spend the 5 bucks (though I think some Walmarts sell LE for 50 too). I personally like the original case, it fits in better with my other games.

think about it this way... Halo 2 LE is exactly like Madden CE for PS2 in the sense of rarity. They are only making so many and when they are sold, they are gone. At the EB I work at, we only had one extra LE version, outside preorders. According to DM, we are receiving no more, only getting more regular versions.

I think the collector's edition copies of the game will end up getting scratched far more often than the regular edition for this reason. for pete's sake, keep your game disc and dvd in separate cases.

If you look carefully at the case, the center part that holds the discs has a ring on it, which separates the two. It won't completely prevent the discs from touching, but along with the metal casing it's not the disc-on-disc grinding situation everyone makes it out to be.

You could use a D-Skin... I think that's what I'll do to make sure the game doesn't get stratched while in the case. Have to admit that was weird how the games were placed on the same side a top one another.

See when people say this type of shit, they forget that if the CD wasn't there it would still get scratch by the plastic. I know at least 12 people (myself included) who have the CE and the discs are perfectlly fine. I actually believe this will be the new way to package dual disc sets from now on (which isn't bad, so stop bitching).

As for the rarity... well my local EBgames, Gamestop and Gamecrazy are still selling CEs (without preorders), hell the GC even got a shipement of another ten in, so I doubt it'll ever be rare (at least withing the next few years), but then again its a Collectors Edition, not a Limited Edition, theres a clear difference that people just seemed to miss :P

As for the bonus content, the case is absolutely Badass sweetness, and the DVD is loaded with bonus content (though you'll need a DVD remote to play it on your xbox, ironically enough I had to play it on my PS2 :)). Not bad for a lowly $5 more. Definatly worth it if your even a semi-fan of Halo.

Unless the Gamestop hasn't had most of its people come in for their pre-orders I highly doubt it. In the glass case behind the counter they easily had 35 LE's. I don't think it is limited in any way.

I was just going off what the presumption that CEs would be limited to pre-orders as Microsoft had said, but now I'm thinking there is anywhere from 2-3 million copies of the CE.
