I actually saw this a little whie, but I went ahead and ordered it today. Figured I'd give it a chance despite hearing not so great things about either games. Hopefully it'll be different for me.

I'm thinking about picking it up for the art style alone.

You know, once something is selling for $0.98 at Target, I just can't bring myself to pay that much. I didn't even get the game, but the knowledge alone is enough.

Why does this game suck so bad? I've heard terrible things.

I've heard that the gameplay just is atypical of other RPGs and a little akward. At the same time though, I have seen a few people that like it. I guess it's hit or miss.

I picked it up from Target for about $7 right before FFX-2 was released. I thought it was horrible. I played about 30 mins worth, and that was enough for me - you don't move an on-screen character AT ALL. You sit through some badly done cutscenes, then enter a dungeon and choose to go north, south, etc. Then you run into fights, where the combat isn't really that great.

The best thing about the disk at the time was it had the X-2 demo movie on it. I traded it about a week after I picked it up.

That's part of the reason I got it, it looks so unique (please leave the politcally correct graphic whore statements out of this, lol), plus I like collecting just about any RPG I can find especially from Square. I still haven't got around to playing it though. I got mine in December for $19.99 and it had the FF-X2 preview in it.

I'm not trying to scare anyone away from the game, but if you decide to pick it up be warned: mastery of the game is IMPOSSIBLE. From what I've read (at various websites), the game manual was deliberately left bare so that gamers would congregate and discuss the gameplay mechanics and possible outcomes of magic and forging. (You get to forge your own weapons through an almost indecipherable menu system with no descriptions whatsoever.) If you undertake the daunting task of finishing one or two storylines with any success (there are 8 storylines that overlap, IIRC), you'll have to spend time researching the game with a FAQs page in hand.

BUT... it is quirky and different, so if you have a couple of nights free, why not check it out? I mean... it is SQUARE after all. :)

Not worth your time, just buy Drakengard instead. Unlimited Saga is as much fun as trying to get pubic hair off of a bar of soap.

You can get pubic hair off soap by running hot water over it for a prolonged period of time!11
